Isn't ironic how Jean Claude Van Damme was supposed to be in this game developed by Ed Boon and John Tobias, but ended up becoming Mortal Kombat and then this movie popped up and we ended up getting this game with Van Damme that looks like MK?

Johnny Cage was practically meant to be a parody of Jean-Claude Van Damme, especially since in the first Mortal Kombat game he was seen wearing the exact same outfit that Van Damme was seen wearing in the movie "Bloodsport".
So basically mortal kombat and street fighter had a one night stand back in the 90s, and this is what came of it.
They had to put it down because it's eyes were too close together.

Pretty much everyone looks like who they're supposed to be except whoever's playing Akuma and Raul Julia as Bison (though Raul more than makes up for it through sheer force of personality).

I was always surprised that with all of the Street Fighter vs Mortal Kombat Mugen games that no one ever used these sprites. These sprites would fit in with the mortal kombat sprites much better

@@dexterdingle4774 no doubt a real mk vs sf would be terrible. I just know a ton of mk vs sf mugen games have been made, and im surprised none of them use these sprites. Having mortal kombat and street fighter characters on screen at the same time looks awful since the art styles are drastically different.
@@darrellgardner4561 Well in some versions of the mortal kombat Project mugen games you can play as Akuma and he tends to be on the stronger end but not overly so like he's meant to be a mid-boss. His signature move the Raging Demon was made one of his fatalities in that game which is fitting of course. To make it a bit easier to pull off you can do Akuma's taunt as a means to have him hold still as you do the input.

Sawada was one of the platoon officers during Guile's speach. He also shows up in the USA Network SF cartoon with the same Katana move set and hated Guile's guts cause he was told Guile went rogue after the movies events
You know it's kind of ironic. I mean Mortal Kombat was going to initially be a Blood Sport (starring Jean Claude) game, but then became MK and then he became apart of Street Fighter game, using digitized actors and starring Jean Claude. XD

The only reason we played it here is cause Raul Julia, a beloved Puerto Rican actor, played Bison in this fiasco of a movie. He died soon afterwards. He is still remembered here in PR to this day.

As bad as this game is, you gotta give the developers props for the effort they put in this to make it look/play as the original.

No, what I mean is the effort to put things special moves (like hadoukens and shoryukens) and how they kinda do the same thing as the original game (like Akuma's Shakunetsu Hadouken doing three hits).
The developers are for me on the same level, as the developers of Superman 64
Capcom did the console versions, those play much like an actual Street Fighter game.
If you really examine the basic moves that they had to film compared to Mortal Kombat's basic moves and look at all the extra attacks each character had, it must have been more tedious to make this game than the original Mortal Kombat. They could really have put the game higher if they took extra time to improve the sound effects and used the SF2 Music instead of using this crappy music.

At the start of the Guile VS Bison scene:
Bolo would "raging demon" Raul Julia first (as revenge for turning his temple fortress into a secret base), next he gives Van Damme a Round 3 for old time sake, and then a resuscitated M. Bison later enters the fray with his electric-suit.
I actually don't mind Ernie Reyes Sr. as Akuma/Gouki.

I died soooooooooooo bad throughout this whole game. I was CRYING laughing. The Honda part killed me, Ryu part killed me, the Sagat Part killed me harder, and the Akuma stuff put me in a grave. "SLAMMASTER!!!!!" So damn funny. One of Max's best videos ever made.

I can confirm with Max that no one played this shit in the arcade. 😂 My buddy did get it in Saturn and 3 of use stayed up playing it on night. It does still play like SF, a clunky version but it's familiar and the visuals was enough to entertain us for a night. 😂
The home versions were completely different from the arcade versions. They rebuilt it using the SuperTurbo engine for the home "ports"

Max was dead on about the reception that this game had in Arcades. I only ever saw this Arcade game in 2 locations in my neighborhood. One was a Mexican restaurant that had another Arcade which was Killer Instinct and the second being a Car Service base that had SF 3: 3rd Strike, Marvel Vs. Capcom 1 and Kabuki Klash - no one played Street Fighter: The Movie, The Game in either location. I also never met a single person that owned the game on Sega Saturn and I had plenty of friends who owned Saturns growing up.
I had this game unfortunately, cos my dad was a Hardcore streetfighter 2 fan, after we had the cabinet in our shop, but didn't know much more about the game and thought this was a great idea lol...

Fun Fact: This game was supposed to have Fatalities. You can check an unused counter in the test menu for "Fatalities" along with other stuff like "Blanka Found" "Blanka Fought" etc.
