This is why Alpha 3 is the best Street Fighter game ever. I bought the Japanese version of this game with the RAM cart on the Saturn and fell in love all over again, after previously playing the PS1 version to death. The amount of hours I pumped into dramatic battle was unreal. Best mode in any Street Fighter game ever. Nothing like fight two characters at once, amazing! Great video as usual Max. This is why we need Alpha 4!!
Did you ever play SFA Anthology on PS2? Its Survival Dram Bat that went through the whole character roster on the game was the funnest mode ever to me and my friends and we still play it to this day. I sadly never got to play this version of 1 v 2 dram bat though but it surely looks awesome as well. The chaos and speed of Alpha 3 will never be topped to me!
...........You know what, it's funny to see these past street fighter games filled with so many modes, characters, just so much content in general. I don't know if it's the 2-d sprites or my nostalgia talking or what but these games have so much charm to them. Like I can't help but smile a bit whenever I watch these older games in motion and I get so hype at the same time. Seriously, wtf happened to capcom between now and then because nothing capcom does or makes recently doesn't hype me up like they used to.
Nico Gaiden well first of all, fighters were losing appeal with the weaning arcade scene and divided resources for Capcom during the PS2 Era lead to the death knell that was Capcom Fighting Evolution, which cemented mainstream fighters as dead...until the next console generation arose with online play and digital content bigger than ever for Capcom to release the returning SF in SFIV, with online play and...DLC. Essentially development teams seem to have got hung up on the idea that a good online experience is all you need to sell a fighter, it was the Arcade scene with new paint. Of course, with Halo 3 arriving with much more content and variance, most people didn't care for the new fighters despite attempts to cater to new audiences with easier controls and combos.
I think people forget that SFV is only beginning to add new content, they'll be adding stuff until 2020. I mean seriously the game just fucking came out and everybody expects it to have the same amount of stuff as the third version of a game, that came out a few years after the first.
Nick Clark 1. That is not an excuse for a dreadful launch product where a good first impression sells to a novice audience. 2. Capcom has done little to prove themselves as trustworthy with the many slip ups (suddenly no Zenny, missed milestones, still unreleased content as of today) they have done for SFV, let alone other titles (On disc DLC and pay 2 win content). I have no reason personally to believe they will add content to make me play SFV over, say, Overwatch. 3. This is not a problem exclusive to SFV. It is a problem that hampers all fighters. Modern fighters are so content barren for some reason compared to most other genres and it shows in the sales.
Nico Gaiden you absolutely right, look how fun this is, the imagination with the extra modes this is what drew players into SF or Fighting games in general. I still remember tekken bowling as an extra mode. I know ppl say SFV just came out give it time when this came out it had everything.
Inside Ryu's heart, there is Evil Ryu. Inside Evil Ryu's heart, there is Kage. Inside Kage's heart, there is Akuma. Inside Akuma's heart, there is Shin Akuma. Inside Shin Akuma's heart, there is Oni. And inside Oni's heart, is death.
This is one of the most hilarious videos Max has put out, and the idea of a two vs. one mode sounds like something that would be great to put into a modern or future Street Fighter.
Fun fact: Bison actually has two visible tells that I can see. The first one is if he crouches down for a few seconds - he is charging up a Psycho Shot. The second one is if he goes for a Skull Diver (jump then Psycho charged punch). If Bison has a bar after doing Skull Diver, he will pretty much always go for his Psycho Crusher super. So if he goes Skull Diver, don't jump or rush him, but immediately block.
False* that actually depends on his mood, because there are literally times he just does the final psycho crusher for no reason at all....not to mention the psycho ball is when he feels likes on off days.
Yes most times like 90 pct if he went to duck down you could stand in front of him then jump over the fireball strong hp or hk into you special or get him with a Raging Demon right before the shot if you were fast enough. Also if he does the fake headstomp in mid-air with bar hes gonna do his Super Psycho Crusher. I always used to own Bison knowing these things back in the day compared to my friends and if he had bar just block and counter with back R1 uppercuts for juggles because he would keep recovering. Thats Shin.Bison 101 on reg Alpha 3. Shin Akuma on the other hand was an unpredictable psycho as he should be. SFA2 Golds Shin Akuma in the windy lighting field who you could only fight once was the toughest Shin ever to me though because you only got 1 chance to beat him on there and he was even more OP.
The stages, music and announcer from this era of Capcom games was topnotch, I equally loved the Marvel Super Heroes announcer too. I really miss it. SFV is alright, better announcer than SFIV...oh did he get annoying FAST.
Нурлан Яхин It is my favorite SF game in the Alpha series and a series as a whole. Everything in it mixes well, from music to sound and presentation. perfect.
I wish every game had a lot of interesting modes to mix things up. Nothing's worse than having like 3 modes and that's it. Especially if all of them aren't that different.
PurpleFreezer Yeah, frankly I wouldn't be too shocked if that and perhaps the lack of cooperate play is the primary reason nobody plays fighters as much as shooters. Why buy a new fighter with 4 modes when you can buy a shooter with double that plus the benefit of level design to add more tweaks to the initial game?

Saturn version had all the same stuff as this one, just minus a few of the Capcom vs SNK2 characters. It was one of the first console ports, released only half a year after the PS1 version.
The initial release SFA3 on ps1 had more modes then almost all of the other SFs combined and the speed and frames per second in versus matches made it an adrenaline fueled masterpiece that I dont think will ever be topped. I just cant get as hype for any fighters these days with their slower gameplay and juggle combo bs that you cant recover from or air block against. I know people could do the infinite juggle on here in V-ism but among casual players I honestly never seen it. I could go on forever about why this is the best SF game ever from modes to characters co-op fun especially in the SF Anthology where you had 2 player Survival Dram Bat that me and my friends still to this day play but I will stop here.. SFAlpha3 Forever!!! Also still playing SFV so add me if you'd like to fight @clutch_french33 psn
@@DeitySkullKid 4 years later, it absolutely changed a lot, nearly 3 times the base roster, adding multiple new modes and gameplay mechanics, yeah it changed a lot
I remember when the Street Fighter Alpha Anthology Collection came out on PS2 back 06' Me & my friend would skip classes to play dramatic mode, I would use Shin Akuma while he would use Ken or Evil Ryu. I miss those days.
When you click on a Max video thinking it's the usual 20 or so minutes and it turns out to be 42. And not only is it 42 minutes long but he's playing reverse dramatic battle which is one of the coolest things in any fighting game ever. What a treat. :)
Jose Colella imagine trying to do that on a PS Vita or PSP when playing the ps1 port. I gave up on getting Shin Akuma, don't know how I even got to Guile and E. Ryu
Reverse Dramatic fights might be the coolest way to up difficulty I've seen in a fighting game, the ai can actually cover itself and make you think differently about every fight. It also feels like this mode was meant for characters like akuma because doing well means going on a rampage and kicking the shit out of two people at once which is awesome.
Maki and Guy are both Bushin-ryu practitioners, Max. COME ON, MAN. :) Alpha 3 would easily be my favorite SF if 3rd Strike didn't exist. Game's friggin' awesome.

No! They will do the same thing they did with anniversary edition. No widescreen as extra. It was just a lazy arcade port. They could've done more with it. They had widescreen Street Fighter 3 2nd impact. If it was possible for that one it's possible for the others as well. They have the files to adjust and they didn't. Why would they add extra after 10 or 15 years with SF V? Lol. THey will release arcade version which is even bare version. LMAO

When I got the PSP version of this I pretty much exclusively played as Akuma in this mode. So much fun, the most fun I've ever had with Akuma and his crazy combos.
27:40 it's a win because in dramatic battle it's the percentage health remaining of BOTH opponents compared to yours in a time out, so even tho Sagat looks like he has more lifebar, because Adon is dead, Akuma has more % of his life left that Sagat+Adon combined.
Yes the X-Ism was kinda like SF2 characters for a lot of the characters on SFA3 with Bison even doing the Psycho Crusher instead of psycho ball and also doing Psycho Scissor Kick as his special instead of the level 3 psycho crusher hearkening back to SF 2 Turbo days. These things kinda made it like SFA3 had nearly 100 or over 100 different characters when taking isms into effect. Nothing like SFA3 and people out here saying 3rd strike?!?! I hear Sagat's classic arms folded laugh in my head when I even try to compute that in my mind and this coming from a man who loves 3rd Strike as well..
It's the PSP version. Also has Eagle, Yun and Ingrid (a character from capcom fighting jam. her story is a load of fanfictiony bollocks but shes fun to play) Wish it would come to PSN and Steam with online cos I loved playing it.
+gluegunassault2010 To be fair, the whole Psycho Power link thay put here was apperantly just a rash-plot they decided to throw in because they didn't know what to do with Ingrid. I mean, originally, she was supposed to appear on a game called _Capcom Fighting All-Stars,_ but since it was cancelled, her original story went to the trash-bin. As such, they apperantly didn't know what the hell to do with the character. - In the >COUGH, COUGH< "spiritual successor" of this cancelled title, Capcom Fighting Jam, she was apperantly some cosmic deity who came to Earth to get rid of Pyron and, after that, she seems to retire, abandoning her two head-pieces and (supposedly) her own powers. - In Alpha 3 Max, her story is revamped and she's apperantly linked to the Psycho Power for some goddamn reason! She comes, snaps Evil Ryu back into sanity, trashes Rose (just because she can) and then beat Bison and takes his power AND his gigantic statue-laser cannon *into space.* (apperantly, they decided to keep _some_ aspects of her character intact) - Then, years later, Street Fighter x Tekken is launched and, accompanying it, is a comic. (now this is stuff I just heard about, so please, if I make any mistakes, feel free to correct me) Ingrid makes an appearence and AGAIN, her story is revamped one way or another. She appears only in the beginning as an almighty goddess looking down on Earth and on us humans, contemplating about our love for war and all that shit. Then she decides to give us a "present", a "gift." THAT'S RIGHT! She's the creator of Pandora and the reason why that goddamn thing fell on Earth in the first place! WHATTA HELL, CAPCOM?! Seriously, they need to pull their shit together and give ingrid a proper introduction. Becausem her character does seem interesting, it has potential and I personally love her, but so far it has been one gigantic roller-coster with her story! @__@
+MrDibara Ingrid's probably one of my 10 fav street fighter characters (despite basically only being in one game) and I agree that Capcom need to get their story together with her, but since they've pretty much botched her intro 5 times in a row (allstars got cancelled, capcom jam isnt particually well liked, SFA3 MAX made her into a spotlight stealing (as much as i hate this term) mary sue, her DLC for tatsunoko vs capcom got cancelled and she's responsible for X Tekken, nuff said) and the fact that "cute moe magical girl characters who aren't buff dudes" characters are utterly despised in the west (tho supposedly she actually ranked rather high on an official top 10 SF characters list in japan) have pretty much killed any hype for her beyond a small niche, and one of the worst thing you can do for a character nobody likes is continue trying to force them... That said, I like the idea of her not being a proper SF character but rather a general capcom crossover character who pops in occasionally, kinda like Asagi from various Nippon Ichi games (Disgaea, Soul nomad, Phantom brave etc) or maybe a Darkstalkers character where her magical elements wont seem too out of place (but then we'd never see her again since capcom hates everyone from DS that isn't Morrigan or Felicia...)
these old backgrounds are so dope!!!! so much fun to look at, and weirdly they actually feel like they have more depth than the new ones do, to me at least.
+mokuba76 It would be SICK AS FUCK if you could team up with a partner online and wreck a single oponent or you'd just straight up fight two oponents by yourself. HECK, make it even TWO players vs TWO players! (am I exaggerating?)
23:35 I can't even describe what I just heard. It was like an orgasm that queued in at the wrong time Also Ingrid and Garuda for SF5. Come on Capcom, make me want to buy your game
Playing dramatic battle on this game with my brother was INSANELY fun. The shit we would do to the computer, we'd get them in crouching punch infinites with one of us on either side for laughs ha ha. Then when we would just fight it was funny doing the juggles and WRECKING the AI. Best gaming moments of my life man.
Alpha 3 is number 2 on my list but only because I have very fond memories of Street Fighter 2 on Genesis with the 6 button controller I got as a gift, closes thing to arcade at home for me in 1992.
Bunny Rabbit Seriously the only thing original about her is the psycho power gauntlets she has, apart from that shes just cammy in a slightly different costume with a mask.
this is what the new street fighter needs awesome modes likes these and a fun world tour that allowed you to lvl up ur character and create your own ism and then import it to the main game to play with friends :3
max is the funniest street fighter player alive Somebody agree? he enjoys the game like he is feeling akumas wrath. jesus i am laughing so hard. max probs

they should release this version of alpha 3 for Xbox market and PS store
Christian Rodriguez it's on psn, only thing it's missing is online.
Christian Rodriguez The should release Hyper SFA too.
for ps3? not in europe,we dont have this version on psn.
They should make an HD remix on the PS4. Maybe add new stages and music with more modes. That would be the best SF game ever made.
Namikaze Minato The version on PSN is merely a port of the PS1 version.
4:50 FIGHT ME!
2 seconds later: proceeds to get rekt
Alpha 3 MAX needs a return on today's consoles, not just basic alpha 3.
27:37 hahahahaaaaa!!! That moment of clarity! Max, your freaking entertaining 😆
Guy and
Maki are rocking Jordans! Too dope!
ay lmao. thanks for uploading on my birthday. you've been one of my favorite UA-camrs for a while
Max pulling a Steve and ducking SVC Chaos
dude, loving this series of videos. it's inspiring me to go though my collection. I played ex plus alpha today. So damn rad. loving the content!!
Man I remember spending hundreds of hours on this fucking game. The Bison screen nuke super made me want to break the TV.
i never seen such crazy matchs on stree fighter ... thanks dude.
lol Max, Gen is the only person Akuma thinks is worthy of a fight to the death. Thats their lore
Isaiah Bryant Oro too
Gouken and Evil Ryu as well
max this has been my fav video of the akuma series good job dude 👍👏👊
Are Maki & Guy rocking Jordan 1s?
Nike Dunks
27:40 it's a win because in dramatic battle it's the percentage health remaining of BOTH opponents compared to yours in a time out, so even tho Sagat looks like he has more lifebar, because Adon is dead, Akuma has more % of his life left that Sagat+Adon combined.
I don't know why but I was expecting to see Shin Akuma vs Dio's stand for some reason
Vuljivylyrics BUT IT WAS ME, RYU
You were expecting to face Bison, BUT IT IS I, DIO!!!
ZA WARDO
It would be pretty hype if Capcom made an 3rd Strike versus Heritage for the Future, but I don't even think they have the license anymore.
Anime gamer agreed
I really enjoyed this one. This Akuma legacy series is quite entertaining.
It's not a secret - Chun automatically puts that costume on using X-ism
O wow
4:44 was hype "come the fuck on.....fight me!" Akuma was truly taking on all! I was too hyped to be at work. Lucky my boss agrees.
The image on the right is my profile pic
Akuma's RSNL okay
Akuma's RSNL omg you don't say!
You inspired me and I beat this for the 1st time as Guile last night! Challenging but so fun! Love your channel!
Maki's in this game?? Must be one of the more recent editions.
It's the PSP version. Also has Eagle, Yun and Ingrid (a character from capcom fighting jam. her story is a load of fanfictiony bollocks but shes fun to play)
Wish it would come to PSN and Steam with online cos I loved playing it.
WaffleAfterHours whats sad shes not in sfv. what is the point her inclusion in the psp version if shes not in the main sf games?
She comes, snaps Evil Ryu back into sanity, trashes Rose (just because she can) and then beat Bison and takes his power AND his gigantic statue-laser cannon *into space.* (apperantly, they decided to keep _some_ aspects of her character intact)
- Then, years later, Street Fighter x Tekken is launched and, accompanying it, is a comic.
(now this is stuff I just heard about, so please, if I make any mistakes, feel free to correct me)
Ingrid makes an appearence and AGAIN, her story is revamped one way or another.
EAGLE!!! that was my dude.. can u imagine this mode with eagle and dudley...
Man, those pincer attack wombo combos. You seriously got turned into a Max Sandwich a couple times!
In terms of presentation and UI, this game was the most hyped SF
It was and is pure octane heart pounding action that Ive never seen replicated before or since.
these old backgrounds are so dope!!!! so much fun to look at, and weirdly they actually feel like they have more depth than the new ones do, to me at least.
Nash was like, you mad bro?? XD
I remember getting this for my PSP. Reverse dramatic battles were present in that version as well. I had so much fun on road trips with this game!
This is the PSP ver.
They need to put this game mode in SF5
Rashad Crump Maybe an online version?
+mokuba76 It would be SICK AS FUCK if you could team up with a partner online and wreck a single oponent or you'd just straight up fight two oponents by yourself. HECK, make it even TWO players vs TWO players! (am I exaggerating?)
MrDibara I just want to see an SF5 womob combo. And also I want to see an amazing person dominate two people with just amazing skill
I feel like that would work well only if they extend the stages by a lot allowing people to have more movement
Rashad Crump yes u r right
Sooooo satisfying to watch. Miss these days of SF awesomeness. Don't know what I would do with SF 30th anniversary collection
23:35
I can't even describe what I just heard. It was like an orgasm that queued in at the wrong time
Also Ingrid and Garuda for SF5.
Nash: "You mad bro?"
18:12 looks like akuma just woke up the next day after a long night of drinking......."ken where are your pants?"
i love alpha 3 is fun and my favorite.i remember alpha max is a psp game
TwinkieRyu38 cute profile picture
Ninten Jermi thanks
Max mostly used emulation for every game in this Akuma Legacy series.....
TwinkieRyu38 no problem
What exact emulator is this? I know it's a psp one. Pretty much Sfa3max PSP version on a cabinet is my dream cab.
Alpha 3 is number 2 on my list but only because I have very fond memories of Street Fighter 2 on Genesis with the 6 button controller I got as a gift, closes thing to arcade at home for me in 1992.
Akuma's former master was his older brother Gouken, Gen was just a major rival
Alpha 3 max is my favourite Street Fighter. I've played this game for countless hours on my PSP back in the day.
This shit is why SFA3 was so stupid fun. The funnest!
Dood, just started watching your stuff and subbed. You've got such a great commentator voice!
Juni and Juli are way better than Decapre.
anyone is better than Decapre
Bunny Rabbit Seriously the only thing original about her is the psycho power gauntlets she has, apart from that shes just cammy in a slightly different costume with a mask.
Rugalheid Bernstein charge character tho
Laso23 I think Juni or Juli is a charge character as well.
Juni is a charge character.
Dramatic battle needs to make a comeback in the newer games
31:55 WOMBO COMBO!!!
this is what the new street fighter needs awesome modes likes these and a fun world tour that allowed you to lvl up ur character and create your own ism and then import it to the main game to play with friends :3
max is the funniest street fighter player alive Somebody agree? he enjoys the game like he is feeling akumas wrath. jesus i am laughing so hard. max probs
17:42 "suck it Mika, YEEAAAAHH". MaximilianDood - 2016
Charlie kicks you in the back of the head while you're giving Chun-Li the buisness.
40:53 Max you were crouching in the corner (and im assuming holding block) and the CPU just decided to move you out of the corner and standing XD
Even with that goofy Alpha 3 BS, this is still my favorite SF game.
Fun video, as well.
There should be a team up with Shin Akuma with Evil Ryu
You can do that. Lol.
Xedhadeaus I meant as a final battle. Would be epic
BIGBOSS9545 that's actually how it already is. Max just didn't get a high enough score for the true final battle which is Shin akuma and evil ryu
Yep, I faced them as Final Bison
best episode so far Max..
29:23 LMAO Max is so hilarious
Gotta love how M. Bison almost always uses the meter right before the beat drops.....
