When this show was on the air I was a bar tender at the local Marriott hotel, every Sunday night when it came on everyone in the bar stopped what they were doing and came out to watch and I mean everyone, managers, kitchen staff, security guards, bus boys.....all cracking up. It truly was incredible....
Thanks to the 90s and Al Bundy my girlfriend can't stand my crude humor. Wish we could go back when Al would say on TV what we all felt about things around us. What a time to be a teen in the 90s.
In the words of Christina Applegate: “If you like things about me then talk to Ed and Katey because they raised me. If you hate things about me then talk to Ed and Katey because they raised me.”
MWC was probably the best cast show of all time. The entire cast was gold, even the secondary cast members and the occasional characters. Al's friends, the shoe store customers, etc. All fantastic.
I don't know. I would say the best cast sit-com of all time for sure. But there are other shows where they got the cast better. Though only slightly. And Katey Sagal was one of the main stars on one of those shows, sons of anarchy. Every casting choice was literally perfect for SoA. Breaking bad the same, and shows like the Sopranos, Boardwalk empire, better call Saul. There has been some true magic in casting for tv shows in the last 20 years or so. But MWC was pretty perfect, except some of the supporting or extras casting wasn't great. Some of the girls who would come in dating Bud or for Al to perv over, were awful. I get that they used models and so on rather than actors for a lot of it, but there seemed to be some real airheads there. But the main cast, including Steve, Marcy and Jefferson, were all pretty perfect. Though it took a couple of years for Faustino and Applegate to really get their characters right. But that may have been more of a writing problem than an acting problem.
YES! This cast, Sanford and Son, Frasier, Seinfeld, The Jeffersons, All in the Family, Hogan's Heroes, Cheers, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Martin, Barney Miller, Everybody Loves Raymond and The Golden Girls were casting magic. Every single character contributed so much to the show and not a weak link in the bunch.
@@w0bbl3r May be a lot of dramas today hit the right notes casting but imo most sitcoms today miss the mark with few exceptions. On your point about Faustino and Applegate though I think it just took time because they were conceived differently but as Christina and David grew as actors Kelly and Bud grew. Every show does that though. Look at Seinfeld and how long it took to find all the characters.

Watching every season once again in HULU, I am 63 and watched with great joy, fun and laughter the originals from 87 until 97, in my humble opinion MWC is the very best sitcom and cast in history, pure gold. 👏👏
I can’t tell you how many times that I came home from work depressed after a shitty job on the Police Beat. I would pop in the cassette of Married With Children and within 10 minutes, I wound be on the floor of my living room convulsed in laughter. Many thanks to the Cast for keeping all of us laughing and thinking, “ Did they Really Just Do That. ? “.
The thing that tells me the most, is the reunion of Ed and Christina. And it just melts my otherwise cold heart. I adore all of these guys, but that is the most top moment.
Did you watch the episode where they did a on site UK trip. Al's family line was curse with bad luck in a town from UK so they went their due to a phony contest while the villages plotted to kill the bundys 👍
The critics wanted an idealistic family, and learning lessons (the typical 80s formula), and forgot what "comedy" means . This lovely show, which was just meant to be satire, flew over their heads.

i'm so glad to hear that they all got along because it looked like they had a blast doing that show. for 11 years MWC was part of my life and i love it still to this day. tv's ultimate dysfunctional functional family, the bundys STILL rock!!!!
They all look great. Chemistry is what made this show. They had it then and still do. Nobody could ever put together a better cast for this show. They were collectively perfect!
I always thought it made it better that it was so obviously a dummy they were using. Because the people being flung or battered were usually dummies themselves maybe
When my wife and I were first married we made married with children part of our family and enjoyed every single episode together and just want to take this opportunity to thank the Bundy family ha ha for really just making TV fun for a couple years thank you
Thank God this show is on Hulu. I watched it when I was a kid (probably not the best show for an elementary kid to watch) and loved it, but now as a father with two kids, it is so much more relateable and funny.
I remember my wife's uncle getting mad at me in the early 90s whenever I would say that MWC had really solid family values. Yeah, they insulted each other, but they always had each other's back.
I watch the show on dvd every night, and sleep to the reassurance and comfort that al bundy will be there to make me laugh and cheer no matter how shitty life gets.

Its their chemistry that was the core success of the show. They were a perfect family. They really thought of each other as real family n it showed in their performances. Even till now they're still a family, David n Christina its like Ed's son n daughter. They all keep in close contact with each other. Everyone except for Amanda Bearse(Marcy). The ironic thing is (which also ironically contributed to the show's success) is Irl behind the camera, Al n Marcy really didn't like each other, so really, they didn't really need to act, it was authentic lol which made it even better or in my opinion, perfect!! They all played their role perfectly!! My favorite is Al, Bud n Jefferson, but really, the others are not that far behind i just like them just a bit more. I'm from Edinburgh, Scotland and I remember telling my Mum & Dad (then in their 80's) about 'Married with children' which was then shown at 10pm on STV - when it was put back to midnight, the first thing my Mum wanted was for me to go and show them how to set the timer on the video so that they didn't miss an episode !. They used to talk about what went on in the show with family, friends, neighbours etc - they absolutely loved it - and tbh, it was strange as they never really rated American comedy but they LOVED 'MWC' - as much as I do !
I watch it every episode so much that i know what they will say before start talking... but still enjoy every episode even i watch each other probably 10 times EPIC SHOW !!!
One of the best ever and it's crazy to think how this show would never be able to be made today because of all the crazy cry babies... glad we were able to get it when we did.
Or maybe people are really stupid nowadays. It was obvious from the beginning that everything was an exaggeration. It was excess. There wasn't real ill will against anyone or any group in particular. They had a dumb blonde who was extremely dumb. They had a lazy wife who did nothing but spend money and relished in it. They had an unsuccessful bitter man where his negatives were strongly embellished. Husband and wife both made fun of each other constantly. When they made fun of fat women, they were super fat. When they made fun of people who marry for money they made them completely despicable. When things were sexual, it was oversexualized. While there were bits of reality mixed in, it wasn't reality. That's why people who get it aren't offended by most of it. But if someone cannot recognize that then of course they won't like the show. Marcy was the perfect antagonist. Her and Al were fantastic together. And while they portrayed her character in tons of negative ways, they also made her successful in her career and pleased with herself. People like you are becoming really annoying. Instead of whining that because of cry babies the show wouldn't be on today, how about you point out why the show is actually not horrible or degrading?
The four of them were like the perfect storm and when they came together it was just comedic genius.! I've belly laughed at Carol Burnett, Lucille Ball, etc. but the episode about Al's bad teeth had me rolling! His trying not to scream while biting down on ice chips was pure gold...so damn funny.
As the series continued it became more ridiculously hilarious. I also love the episode where all the guys were on the roof and each one felled. But one of the craziest moments is when Bud was caught giving himself the "Bundy" in the library, and later on in that episode the whole NO MA'AM organization came to protest for Bud with a tv crew. Even when Steve stepped out of the series and Jefferson joined! All of them were magnificent! Even Griff... and Buck the dog! Awesome series, can't be topped!
I'm so glad christina took good care of her skin. Some women tan so much when they are young and still look like a wrinkled bag. The producers really hit the jackpot with this cast. Best sitcom ever!
I love show now they going do animated show I hope it’s good

It's so great when the cast loves the show. It makes the audience love it even more.
The casting on this show was absolutely perfect. Even the neighbor lady and her husbands.

This show was off the chain. I loved every minute of it. Long live Married With Children.
I can watch about ten seconds of an episode and know which one it is. My favorite show of all time! long live NOMAAM.
"NOMAAM HUT! PRESENT. BEER BELLIES!"
"we could all work off of each other. It was like it was real." - This is the reason the show worked so well. 'Real' is very a powerful thing.
What makes it sweeter to watch the reruns is knowing that the cast truly loved and enjoyed working with each other.

Many critics confuse building up valid critsism with just throwing in an winy-bitchy opinion, that's often-times dishonest.
