THIS. i have locs but i don’t need people telling me i “hate myself” if i want to try a loose or colored hair look with wigs one day. i just don’t want to comb out my locs or damage my hair with bleach. women of all races wear extensions & bleach their hair, i don’t see why people feel the need to isolate black women for also altering our hair, meanwhile, almost all the white famous women they uplift do too. even miley cyrus says she’s dyed her hair & wore extensions her entire disney career since 13, aside from the blonde wig.

If it is a person intentions to change their behavior, bad personality or something as simple as hair style they should know to learn not to blame other people for the choices they want to make. The natural community is not your enemy or your God. The only psychological reason you are to blame a person for holding you back for making your lifestyle choices of your liking Is because your own self Animosity or self reflection of your own thoughts torward yourself you have much to learn to think better of yourself and never blame others if your truly having a self reflection journey.

Super agree. All that matters is that i have healthy hair, and that the products I'm using dont harm my body (why i stopped relaxing my hair). I have time but I'd rather spend an hour taking care of my hair than a full day.

I am 27 and I can confirm that what she’s saying is true. I lived at home with my parents until a few months ago when I got married. I kept a job, didn’t have people coming in and outta their house, came home at a decent hour, let them know I was safe and did what they asked of me out of respect for their generosity. I didn’t have to pay a single bill so whenever they asked me to do something or grab something from the store, I always said yes ma’am and yes sir. If I went out to eat, I offered to bring them something back. Living with parents is great when you’re appreciative & not lazy

"Made fun of you" is more like _was jealous of you_
The "jokes" really do be subliminal envy. They just hope you don't know since it's wrapped up in "laughter" and tied with a cute little bow. And it's only in the BC that this is even such a polarizing thing anyway bcs other races and cultures don't pay bills until they are financially stable enough to have a mortgage or married. BC is the only race/culture pushing 18 yr olds out of the house. That said, sons should be both financially contributing and saving, or living on their own so that they can gain the structure required to take care of a family, and daughters should not be expected to contribute financially.
I shouldn't have to explain to anyone in the comments why this clear distinction between males and females is necessary..

Yess 👏🏽 I’d like to add a few more things I needed to hear when I was younger :
1: keep your legs closed! There’s no situationship without sex involved. If you wait long enough the wrong man will get usually get rid of himself once he learns he’s not gonna get what he came for. And you avoid getting trapped with kids by a man you regret being with!
2: it’s never too late to go back to school. Don’t be afraid to finish what you started or take a better path altogether.
3: prioritize your health. Have a workout routine that fits YOU. Frequent/heavy drinking, and smoking will age you so fast and break down your immune system, etc. it’s not worth it in the long run.
