The entirety of the 1993 version is available for free on UA-cam! I think that version was from before “maybe this time” and “money” were written (and possibly one other song but I think it was just those two) but it leans into the more dingy and risqué that’s more realistic for Weimar/pre-WW2 Germany.
In my honest opinion, no-one comes close to Lila Kedrova and Peter Sallis, from the original London cast. This seems to have been played for laughs rather than the unstated yearning that these two characters have for each other. Try and track down the OLC Recording and you'll see what I mean. Judith Dench plays Sally!
I feel like the slightly comedic tone works. It makes things feel lighthearted and cute which makes it even sadder when everything comes crashing down.
I am amazed how all Frau Schneider's songs were cut from the movie and they are some of the best songs in the show
The whole sub-plot was cut, which I agree is too bad. I think it really added to the meaning of the show.

i have always loved this song and in the context of the play it is heartbreaking
That's the most romantic thing I've ever seen.
Just finished a run of Cabaret. Our Fraulein Schneider and Herr Schultz are married in real life. It was seriously the cutest thing ever!
They are so cute, its unbelievable!

That's Arvin Sloan from Alias
It’s all cute and lovey dovey, but then you pull the wool off your eyes...
I'm doing it for a show
Funny how they both were on One Day At A Time.
I bet they both had a lot to say about working with Bonnie Franklin.
@@carrieheffernan1685 Bonnie Franklin was a joy to work with.

They are delighting in each other. I really like the way they expressed themselves
