Hey thanks for the video! I have a quick question... First I will give context and backdrop. I am close to pulling the trigger on an AP, and would load a 91 octane tuning map, as all but one station around me carries 91. There is the one station that has 93. If I run the 93 while having the 91 tune, will this reduce my chances of knock even further? I see this as simply so in my head, but was looking for others inputs of experience, knowledge on this: i know these motors are sensitive... so i want to do everything right if I do anything to the car. I already have plans, but those can change in a moment... I remember hearing engine knock in my dad's Mach1 on 91 octane years back; that's actually the moment I learned about compression and how different fuels burned at different rates and intensities... Cool memory. Anyhow, I think my STI may also be craving higher octane fuel. I know my 11WRX went through some pistons due to my lack of diligence in regards to the tuning of it.. I have the IAG AOS and Cyl4 cooling mods about to be installed on the STI but am kinda just waiting to pull the trigger until I'm confident with the car and it's future in the garage (12,700mi bone stock at the moment). I've heard, from the depths of the forums, of piston ring land issues even on the 2020 with the RA pistons at or below the hp levels I would like to enjoy with this platform, and might end up just throwing some H-tuffs in there if it comes down to that...
I have no battery charger , so I think it's best for me to just buy a new battery the day I do it. just in case, cause I don't wanna mess up anything . thanks good vid
A new battery without a charger will most likely be fine. In fact, even a slightly used battery will be OK. Installation and reflash don't end up taking that long. However, it's a safety measurement. You do not want your battery to die during the reflash, or your ECU could be toast. We tried it once without a battery charger on the factory (almost brand-new) battery, and we had no issues. Better safe than sorry, though.
Each map has notes in it that tells you the level of upgrade you should have. You can do a map with all factory parts, just be sure it says that in the map notes.
The 248whp was our BASELINE. This is with the full Remark Catback exhaust. Stock, this WRX put down 244.95 whp and 247.18 lb-ft of torque. A lot of OEMs don't have accurate engine power, but the wheel horsepower is the most accurate in the end for real-life power numbers that make it down to the wheels. This is the Remark Exhaust video, it has the before and after dyno (Stock vs Exhaust): ua-cam.com/video/ATYcmxG51Mk/v-deo.html
Just watched your video on the REMARK sound test and now this. Will the Cobb tune make the exhaust too loud for California? I've been running Cobb stage 1 and been eyeing the remark axleback stealth edition.
Just got my accessport but also just got my 17 wrx and car doesn’t feel stock when compared to my friends 17 wrx not sure what has been done to it so not entirely sure what map to use.
It's important to know what upgrades are on the car before choosing the proper map for your car. These engines are pretty sensitive to changes, even an intake system would require a specific tune. So be sure to have someone take a look at the car if you can't tell what has been done to it.
We've done it with new batteries before, and it's fine. The problem is the consequences if it dies are really serious, so we always recommend plugging it in just to avoid any freak accidents.
We recommend you talk to Cobb so they give you the exact tune. If you're using Cobb parts, there is most likely an Off-The-Shelf map for it. However, if you're using other manufacturer parts, it's recommended you talk to them to see if you need a custom tune of an off the shelf map that they recommend would work. Good luck.
When you put it back to stock, it shows the same effect as if you've removed the battery. So as far as we know, it would show like you had a dead battery at some point.
As far as the HWG you had mentioned that to only use it if not meeting boost, so im on the stage 1+ w/Big Sf and the program says it should at 19psi boost. I've only reached 15psi, is this something that should warrant the change to the HWG?
Hey Jason, If the map says it should be at a specific boost and it's not reaching that peak boost, then it should justify that. However, to be safe, you should reach out to Cobb in case something else is preventing your ECU from meeting its target boost.
Question, on my mk6 gti thinking ab getting an accessport and possibly catless or catted downpipe, could the port bypass and flash my emissions so i can pass?? Im in the state of idaho and would like to know Please and thank you
We are in California, so we don't know your state laws. Cobb would be your best source to get this answer, and they are extremely responsive and helpful if you reach out to them.
You can get a custom tune for E85/Flex Fuel through the Cobb Accessport. But there is no off-the-shelf map for Flex Fuel, unless they came out with a new one.
You can buy the MA Performance tune off of their website. I believe it's $75. If you decide to go with a COBB off-the-shelf tune, you can call COBB and tell them what upgrades you have to make sure it's compatible.
As far as we understand, flashing the ECU back to the factory map will have the same footprint on your ECU as if you unplug your battery. So, it shouldn't void the warranty. However, be sure to check with COBB just to be safe.
It's not so bad so long as you're not doing excessive pulls and get a protune right away. I fear more for the VAs and the kids buying K&N intakes without protunes

Thank you so much.
im getting this in the new year for my 2016 wrx can't wait .The revhang is really bad on the factory tune
I'm going with MAPerformance 91 octane
Love the content mate! Does this help with the rev hang from 1-2 gear?
Yes it does. It improves the factory rev hang.
Great video not many tell you to check your firmware before connecting to your car...
Big plus
Thank you, 🙏
Yes, it's important to make sure you have the latest firmware update.

Can you run the stage one OTS with all stock bolt ons? Or do they recommend some sort of upgrades before running stage 1?
Each map has notes in it that tells you the level of upgrade you should have. You can do a map with all factory parts, just be sure it says that in the map notes.
Does this allow you to go back to factory settings? This is a must for passing CA smog
Is this worth buying if my 2015 wrx is completely bone stock? 😅 any power increases with a stock wrx?
Yes he is basically stock too an axleback doesn't increase performace the stage 1 tune is what subaru should've had from the get go
Great install video!
Thank you!
what dyno was this? 248 whp seems like alot. I thought it was around 220whp. cool though

The tune will not change the sound at all.
I just installed my axelback stealth exhaust and it’s such a beautiful sounding exhaust.
can i use a small portable battery charger?
If I added a cold air intake on my wrx 2017 and everything else is stock can i just install the tune #1 ???
This helped so much
Cobb should make it in Bluetooth with app. Thus will save consumers lots of money

DSPORT yep thanks, I just put some jumper cables from another car and used some stuff to use some amps and it worked great
I have the Cobb big sf intake and remark axle back, I wonder how much I'm making whp wise. Stage 1+ 93 big sf tune
with the tune, you are probably around 250whp or slightly less.
I got a invidia r400 cat back exhaust on my wrx and I want to get an access-port, should I just go stage 1 91 octane like you did?
yeah you’d rather be safe than sorry, if you got other engine mods then you should probably go up to a stage 2

have literally never heard of "make sure your battery is being charged" before... thats uh... new.
Chances are, your battery will hold up. However, in the case it dies, your ECU will most likely be done. This is also recommended by COBB not just us.
