I'm still in love with my xm-5. People count them out lots of times but i work in a noisy environment and instead of using a different type of earbud at max volume I just go to 70% with anc on these and it saves my ears for the future.

thanks for your video, I got some connection(?) issue when walking in a certain part of an underground train station, more like an interference, but didn’t get that using another brand; so let me see if this firmware would help
When I got my XM5, the first thing I noticed was the static noise compared to the XM4, which was completely silent while nothing was played. I hope they fix it because I'm still not used to it. I also noticed the quality degradation is bigger when ANC or Ambient mode is on. I think the loudness of the frequencies is not that balanced. Around 80 decibels, it's as if the bass is switching to a more aggressive mode I hear the kick drums get a boost measured against the other ranges. But overall I agree, it is a step forward in terms of sound quality, functionality, and comfort.

My airpods do this too, I'm beginning to think it's a global issue with bluetooth 5.3.

Hi Aaron, I posted on the last video, but you are quick, I appreciate that. I myself have had stuttering issues on the xm5 and linkbuds s when I go to a mall. I will be testing the Bluetooth improvements in the new firmware gong forward. I have noted that Sony has suggested not enabling 990kbps on phone, reducing to connection stability rather than sound, and also limiting buds to single connection. Overall, a very interesting update. LE options are also limited. Best Regards J
No problem. Update here if the issues you experienced with connectivity are fixed. Yes LDAC 990kbps could cause problems if Multipoint is on at the same time. Also depends on phone.
LE audio is better than ldac? or what is audio for?

Link Buds S also have updated firmware 4.1.0 with same feature about LE Audio. Also I would like to share my story with Link Buds S. I had problems with microphones. When I make phone calls there was very bad sound for my listener. I discovered that after deleting them from Bluetooth settings and pairing again my problem was solved.
@aaronloudnwireless i bought these buds on the day of this video. Im getting nowhere near 12 hours with ANC off. Most i can get is 7.5 hours. The batteries are acting weird too. I had a drop from 21% to 9% in one bud in 4 minutes. They dont keep the same discharge rate or even charge at the same rate. 5 minute charge gave me 45% on right bud and 20% on left. What do you recommend?
My XM 5 sound better after the upgrade. ANC feels improved also. I recommend it.

Why aren't you making any video on latest firmware on Samsung buds 2 pro. In my experience, in latest firmware the ANC has gone down. I want your words on it.

how come you never did a review on huawei freebuds pro 3? I heard they got the best call quality, but I can't say anything about sound quality, can you do one?
My xm4 batteries are failing again after the second warranty service it got last year. Out of warranty now of course but I’m hesitating buying the xm5’s. Jabra, Sennheiser, Apple, Bose, Denon, etc. of course are options but I’ve been using cheap Chinese buds lately because they actually sound and work fine at a tenth of the cost.

Random question what's the best earbuds sound and comfort wise, I have the AZ80, I just want to know if there's something better?
Depends on many factors...
Just a guess - maybe the connection stability issue - that you said you have not experienced - only occurs when in the presence of several other people/devicess also using Bluetooth audio connections. For example at a gym or a mall (as some commentors say they experienced). In which case some (repeatable) simulation of _that_ would be needed in order to reveal any differences (before and after firmware update).
Because Bluetooth operates on a limited number of public radio channels, occasional clashes (bits being sent by more thatn one device on the same channel) are inevitable. I know the Bluetooth concept includes frequency-hopping, so (simplified) if one device finds a problem on its currently-used channel it can try another (randomly picked) channel. But there is no guarantee that it _will_ find any perfectly clean channel, or even if it did, that it would _remain_ clear. With multiple bluetooth devices/connections in proximity, there could therefore be a kind of "traffic jam of data packets" chaos, causing dropouts on individual connections/devices. In that scenario, the best coping strategy I can imagine would be for the devices to dynamically increase their amount of _buffering_ (of the device-to-bud streamed audio) - with consequent increase in latency (late bits being better than lost bits).
_If_ this firmware version has indeed extended the degree of buffering, or made it more dynamic, then I wonder whether that affects just entertainment audio or phone conversations too (I assume those two categories use different protocols within the Bluetooth spec).
But who knows?

Hi Aaron. I m having connectivity issues on my wf1000xm5. Audio dropouts from left to right. Been to Sony care at Somerset for earpiece replacement twice but the problem still persist. My Jabra elite 10 doesn’t have this problem. Latest firmware 3.2.1 doesn’t improve the Bluetooth connectivity. Is it the problem lies on the case? As Sony didn’t replace it.
Have you set the connection priority to "stable connection"? DId you activate multipoint?
@@aaronloudnwireless Yes. Always at stable connection. Multipoint disabled. Reset and initialise many times also.
Really do love your content. And just as i felt myself after updating, it made literally no difference to the XM5's. (its still a pretty good sounding pair of earbuds) Tbf i don't think they can update much to change the Microphone pickup though. Do change my mind if I'm wrong. All in all, very nice and informative video :)

The WF-1000XM5 will eventually suffer from the same battery drain issues as the WF-1000XM4, but you can not change the ZeniPower batteries inside the WF-1000XM5 like you can with the WF-1000XM4. So anyone buying the WF-1000XM5 make sure you have a 3 years extended warranty on them.
About the connection... yes, it was bad. i have both the XM5 and galaxy buds2 pro(i had to buy the pros again because the call quality on the xm5s sounds way too robotic to my gf, lol). When im at the gym, it cuts out no matter if im on stable connection or prioritize sound quality, especially on prioritize sound quality. so now that they have this update, i will be checking the connection cause I've been using the pros at the gym since the connection issues with the XM5. Don't get me wrong, they do sound better, and the ambient mode is leagues ahead of the buds2 pro, but yea just wanted to confirm that there were connection issues and will see if they fixed it
Just got off phone with my Robotic Wife😂 and had her Xm5s
same here, I do ice skating and there’s a lot of people around. When I do faster moves the sound cuts off pretty often. I will try them out today with the LC3 codec today and see how it goes
Update: the connection was a lot more stable but had really minor microstutters every 20min or so, pretty much not a problem anymore

I think "Those devices" are "Not Xperia devices".
The differences I "feel" are :
- MS Teams can't uses my WH1000-XM5 anymore (no sound, device error message on call). Am I alone ?
- Finally! Day-one advertised BT LE-AUDIO is now supported... but you have to sacrifice lots of functionalities including MULTI-POINT!
- LE-AUDIO does not seem to reduce audio latency as it should.
LE-AUDIO is in beta so I hope they will enable multi-point in the future.
I believe these are good earbuds but overpriced and with shamefull recording quality (I think because of bad background noise cancelling algorithm).
Ok, I fixed the Teams issue: in bluetooth devices services, disable "LE Serial HPC". I suppose de device present itself as LE compatible which is not the case if LE-AUDIO is disabled in Sony's App. Hope it will help someone. How to give feedback to Sony ?
I would stay away from the Sony “WF” earbuds. According to a lot of people, even the 1000XM5 still has battery issues. I bought a pair of XM4’s in 2021 and within six months they were dead. Sony replaced them with a new pair and in six months the batteries were shot on those as well.
Sony ended up reimbursing me the full purchase price just this week for those WF-1000XM4’s. They are fantastic if you get a pair that will last, but it’s simply not worth the risk to try again in my opinion.
Try that with another brand and you won't get nothing bk

Well, they first wanted to replace the earbuds for a second time and pair them with the existing case. (This was better than nothing.) They never followed through and when I called them back again, another person said they would just refund me; which they did, this week.
So yes, at least they made good on this product, close to three years on. I commend Sony for this.
I have ordered a pair of Sony’s highly rated, but wired, MDR-EX800ST earbuds. They are no longer made, but are still compared to IEM’s costing many times more to this day. Of course, they have no ANC to them though.

The usual ones are done in 10 mins. This update took 45 mins. Probably more code had to be overwritten.
I bought these earbuds and I can say that turning on ANC makes no difference, waste of money,
I had the same problem when I first got these. It's all about the seal, gotta gently twist it into your ear, rather than just sticking it in.
