  • The rear windshield wiper does not work on this 1997 GMC Safari. In this video we verify the entire circuit using a circuit probe, it may sound like a lot of work, but we're checking for power and ground on certain pins. This way we're not just throwing new parts on the van. This is a "high top" conversion edition of the van, but the testing procedure should be very similar.

Excellent, but I might have to remove this video since we did find a mistake.

At 5:23 double-check that the wiper arm is fully seated before calling it a day!

Hey what should I do if my wiper goes to far and gets caught on the window lip on the way down?

Did you adjust it properly? At 5:23 you can see the proper placement of the wiper arm.

Thanks, very helpful. This should be the same for a 03 Astro. Right?

In regards to the second test of the rear module, A B D E, I have power at A where you state it should be ground and No power at B....Therefore, is my module faulty? Also, while unplugged from the module, no power from the A B D E plug. Thanks

test starting at 3:11 , testing the connector that feeds the motor. Pin info:
A - Dark blue wire, Feeds into motor
      B - White Wire - "Park switch"
D - Yellow Wire, Feeds into motor
      E - Grey Wire - "park switch"
Pin A is labeled as output and D is labeled as ground
Your pin A having power is correct. What do the other pins show when the rear wiper is set to on? (with connector connected to module)

At 3:11, you state that Pin A Blue is ground ( motor ) while plugged in with Switch on, B is power…..Reading your reply, Dark blue is power, white is ground. I’m a little confused….With my Switch ( on ), plug plugged into motor, this is what I see: A-blue wire indicates power, B-white indicates nothing, D-yellow indicates nothing, E-gray indicates nothing. That’s where I’m at. Thanks for your patience and responses! ✌️

@@BigZaddy2112 the wiring diagram is shown at 0:11 , the bottom piece with the "M" is the rear windshield wiper motor. The middle piece is the module. There's 5 wires coming out of the bottom of the module. They are labeled (from left to right) pins A, B, E, D, A.
One of those bottom "A" wires belongs to the top part of the module in the diagram, that "A" wire being the far left one.
That far left "A" wire is a ground wire, so I believe we have stumbled onto a mistake on my part.
Looks like you're getting power, but the rest is an "open circuit."
Perform the test shown at 1:56 , pin info for that is:
      A - Black wire, grounds to G403
B - Grey wire, comes from windshield wiper switch, shows power when switch is set to On.
C - Dark Green wire, feeds into washer pump
D - Light Blue wire, shows power when delay is set

@@OldSchoolNoe Thank you! I am grateful and appreciate your patience. I end up going down a rabbit hole trying to figure things out when I should have referenced the diagram. Peace
