What are the answers to the 2 questions shown?
1st one the Technician is measuring pinion bearing preload (C). Looking at the image we see a "drive beam" style torque wrench, these are usually 1/4" drive, BUT the pinion nut can require a 30mm+ socket to remove, so in the image they are using a 1/4" to 3/8" converter, and a 3/8" to 1/2" converter to be able to use the larger socket. I've never used a socket/torque wrench to measure backlash, runout, or depth. 2nd question, the technician is measuring side gear clearance (A).
@ thank you. I chose those answers but I wanted to confirm. In the process of studying for a3 and a2. Those are my only ones left.
What do you do when you enter the password and it keeps it doesn't accept it it keeps going back do you know the Wi-Fi is correct what do you do
I believe you do not need wifi for this procedure.
Try at your own risk!! I've had only positive experiences with the fitting, BUT the comment posted by kevschuetz proves these nylon unions can be defective and BLOW GAS all over the engine. Please have a fire extinguisher or a fire blanket handy in case the worst happens.
Grateful for you expertise in this subject. I know someone experiencing some kind of a gas/fuel leak and the smell is overwhelming. Hopefully it will be repaired before anyone gets hurt. ❤️🌈🙏💥📡🎶🌎 God Gave Noah the Rainbow Sign No More Water but Fire Next Time
Excellent video, Thank you!!!
those nylon unions are junk. they dont work. they are worthless garbage. boy i wish i didnt listen to you. i ended up doing it the old way with the metal barb fitting and ear clamps. so now i have 2 repairs on the hose instead of one. all this after gas blew all over the engine. luckily didnt catch fire. almost ruined my car because i tried those junk worthless snap nylon unions, very not happy. and yes it was secure straigt and tight and had to be cut off
First time I hear of any issues with the fittings. All I can do is add some warnings to this video so people attempt this repair knowing the possible risks and knowing the nylon union can be defective.
Hello. Will you have any tips or suggestion why my GMC safari 2001 l would act like it wants turn off WHEN I TURN MY STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT ONLY?? GRACIAS
hmmm, sounds like you need to check the wiring harness closest to the driver's side wheel. I heard the wheel can rub into it during sharp left turns.
I wonder if they phase out the current ratchets, if mine breaks, will I be able to just get a new one under warranty?
The current icon ratchets might go on clearance! My understanding is, if your ratchet breaks, it has a lifetime warranty, so they would have to replace it with another ICON ratchet, even if its the new G2 ratchet.
AND ...ASTRO RUNS GREAT....EVEN WITH STUCK STAT....THESE VORTEX MOTORS ARE PRETTY TOUGH
No thanks
Are you giving a hard pass to a certain tool, or to ICON tools in general?
Been waiting to pick up that little icon set when it comes out. But looking at the pics and the $80 price makes me glad that I picked up the Craftsman V-series kit on sale for $39 (of course the regular price was much more than that). Also, wonder how similar the icon will be to that craftsman since supposedly they are made by the same people. (I also have a couple of the tiny icon kits that are already out that I strap a rail with sockets to it and put in a couple of cars) Actually. Wow. After having a much closer look, the box and latch are very very similar to the V-Series. I also modified my V-Series by putting the flex head 1/4" ratchet in there and also dropped a 15mm socket in there for more range. The icon looks like it might have SAE and metric

$39 is a fantastic deal! Yeah 80 is steep, so we'll see what they end up doing with the price.
This video should have 1million view already! Thanks!
Thanks for answering my question!!!
These videos are awesome
Pressure regular for the mityvac kit?
The kit uses the Mityvac MV7102 Fluid Extractor/Dispenser which is rated for 120 PSI, you'll have to set the pressure at the compressor's regulator.
Thanks!
First!
if only I could send you a tool or a shirt for being first!
Amazing walk through of their new items thanks man
Hey its you from the comments I pulled!
I need that filler cheaper. I can get the same filler for 210 from snap on
YES! I'll get it when a 20% coupon is active, or they might lower the price, nothing is fully set yet. Happy to see your comment Supra_Mickey!
Hello, "OldSchoolNoe" I saw your channel and saw that in your channel have some problems, not many. For these problems your channel is not growing. If you can solve these problems, Your channel will grow like a storm. Do you want to know these problem? If you Want to know, I can only tell to you. Can I tell here or email?
Did they say a release date on the pressure tester or the vacuum coolant filler?
around mid 2025
yody; passed a4 today due to your proficient spread of knowledge; wanted to inform via recent video. when the Lord Noe has spoken we listen, bidding of no other is accomplished. May thy soul rest.
congrats!
Good looking out my brother I needed this
just read a report that the "van shuts down randomly while driving" and replacing the PCM did not fix it. could be ignition switch module , ignition key , sensors failing , chassis grounds open , etc
That is correct! Good info! Diagnosis was done beforehand and we concluded a faulty PCM. This video focuses on the PCM aspect. I should have added a sentence such as: "There's a few things that can shut down the van while driving, in this case it was diagnosed to be a bad PCM."
Damn icon stepping their game up for sure. I want that thermal camera! Thanks for the video.
Number part Big relay
I used to be able to do this in about 30 minutes start to finish, it now takes me 2 hours. The old hands don't work as good as the used to. Great video
How hard is removing the wheel assembly?
with the vehicle lifted, remove the 5 lug nuts with an impact wrench, or you can use a breaker bar and socket to loosen the lug nuts while the vehicle is on the ground, then finish removing the lug nuts after jacking up the vehicle.
@ can i do this without removing the wheel assembly?
@@Dbacks77 when I refer to the "wheel assembly" I mean the tire and the rim. It is highly recommended to remove them to have easy access to fasteners.
@ thanks for clarifying! Awesome video by the way.
Excellent video. My Astro, 175,000 miles, is shaking just like yours. This weekend I will change the mounts. THANK YOU.
Great stuff thanks. I just replaced the coil(original)from a safari 2005. Now it's not starting ,so I'll check the I.C.M module cheers.
Could you post a link to that exact pneumatic one you talked about? Thank you.
They're on sale today 11-8-2024 for Members for $29.99. I'll be picking up both SAE and Metric! It lasts till December 5th, 2024 so, go get your Christmas shopping done for your mechanic.👨🔧🎅🎁🎄
What a deal!
This is a damn good video. I didn't know grounds were hidden all over the place like that.
Very well done video. Thanks!
Whats the diameter of the hoses?
Inner diameters are 3/4" supply, 5/8" return
Is really needed take off the fan? Thabks.
It is going to be in the way when you remove the power steering pump pulley.
I don't even know this dude but I like him.
Hey Bro, Thank You! You are def the 1st to bring up that module that controls the key fob! I picked up a relatively clean 120k mile 2000 LeSabre with No rust & I cannot get the key fobs to program. Does it require a scan tool? Because many videos say 2 hold the unlock button on the door while cycling the ignition 2 or 3 times, then let off the button & hold in both of the lock & unlock buttons on the key fob. Where do I get a replacement module & what is it called? My trunk latch is messed up so it's a chore to get inside the trunk until I spend another $50-75..
The module is called the "Remote Control Door Lock Receiver." I found one at my local salvage yard, BUT that service info is for the 2001 through 2005. This info most likely does not apply to your 2000 model.
I thought the Lesabre was the same from 2000-05? Anyways, Thank you! no one wlse has mentioned that control module! I appreciate it. Nothing happens at all when i hold the door unlock button & cycle the key 2 or 3x. Like many of the other videos show. I need to try a multi directional scan tool next. I don't have 1 though.
@@d.j.9961 I just checked service info for the '00, and it is the same procedure, you DO need a high level scan tool. I believe the difference is it uses a different key fob than the '01 to '05
Be interesting to see if any of these things post election days come to pass. Trump is running again this year in 2024. Curious is what I am.
What us the name of the yellow colored module in the trunk of the Buick LeSabre that controls the key fobs? Where can one be obtained?
The module is called the "Remote Control Door Lock Receiver." I found one at my local salvage yard. ebay only has 1 that I know of. These are becoming hard to find!
Passed my A6 Today! Thanks to all the videos I’ve seen. And the notes I’ve taken from you. Couldn’t have done it without your vids🙏🏽🙏🏽
My coill started arcing. I replaced it about 5 years. ago. Thank you for posting a refresher course. You are the man.
i remember doing the drum brakes my first time it was pretty easy if you forget to take a picture just use the opposite side as an example
Going to see if the fuel sending unit ground runs to the trunk...swapped the pump and sending unit...keeps reading full. Disconnect and it drops to e.
Really no 7 mm seriously. That was almost a perfect set. and how come when someone use sockets they never ever ever talk about the broaching whether it shallow or deep. Drives me nuts I mean, how much is there to talk about when it comes to sockets in one of the most important things is always left out.
Good point! I believe all sockets from HF are shallow broach, so I did not think much of it. Nowadays it seems like deep broach is a specialty thing. Do you have a recommendation for a deep broach deep socket set?
Important Note: Before removing the A-Pillar trims( 0:48 ), remove the Vent Cover First! ( 2:35 ). During editing I figured that taking out the A-Pillar Trims first is a good idea, BUT if the vent cover is still in place you will bend them!
Good video! I just found out today that my wife's '98 convertible is missing the strap from the motor mount to the unibody and also missing the strap on the starter. Where does the other end of the strap at the starter connect to?
Starter should connect directly to the negative battery terminal
@@OldSchoolNoethis one has the negative to the driver's motor mount and an empty stud holding the starter on. Then there is no strap from the motor mount to the unibody. We know the engine was swapped in the past, but it was done by a Ford dealership. I would hope that they would do better work than that. Looks like they didn't though.
@@elburno454 sounds like a rushed job, what kind of issues does the vehicle have?
@@OldSchoolNoeI was checking all the grounds because the car would click once and then go completely dark when trying to crank. I found a bad connection at the positive replacement cable end, but not before finding the factory grounds missing. I have it fixed now and it starts, but now I need to add a ground strap from that motor mount for sure. Some hotshot mechanic probably shortened that negative cable and put a new end on it and bolted it to the motor mount instead, thinking the starter would ground fine through the block, which it does seem to be doing.
thanks Noe
best videos on the asto stuff out there :) keep up the rad Noe :)
Excellent video. Was planning to follow along with this until I realized it’ll be hard to turn the crank shaft of a seized motor 🙃. Now I’m not sure what the “easiest” option is.
In theory you should be able to remove the transmission leaving the torque converter in place on the flex plate, you'll just have to have enough room to slide the transmission more to clear the converter, you'll have to reinstall the torque converter onto the transmission when you reinstall it on the new motor, aswell as you'll have to replace all your transmission fluid since the converter will spill its fluid once disconnected from the transmissions input shaft, there's no way around this because the transmission has an anti drain back valve for the converter so draining the pan won't be enough, just be mindful of that and have a bucket under you when you pull it, otherwise it's not much different of a process, once separated you should be able to unbolt the converter without being able to turn the motor
