    What are the answers to the 2 questions shown?

    • @OldSchoolNoe
      @OldSchoolNoe 5 годин тому

      1st one the Technician is measuring pinion bearing preload (C). Looking at the image we see a "drive beam" style torque wrench, these are usually 1/4" drive, BUT the pinion nut can require a 30mm+ socket to remove, so in the image they are using a 1/4" to 3/8" converter, and a 3/8" to 1/2" converter to be able to use the larger socket. I've never used a socket/torque wrench to measure backlash, runout, or depth. 2nd question, the technician is measuring side gear clearance (A).

    those nylon unions are junk. they dont work. they are worthless garbage. boy i wish i didnt listen to you. i ended up doing it the old way with the metal barb fitting and ear clamps. so now i have 2 repairs on the hose instead of one. all this after gas blew all over the engine. luckily didnt catch fire. almost ruined my car because i tried those junk worthless snap nylon unions, very not happy. and yes it was secure straigt and tight and had to be cut off

      First time I hear of any issues with the fittings. All I can do is add some warnings to this video so people attempt this repair knowing the possible risks and knowing the nylon union can be defective.

    I wonder if they phase out the current ratchets, if mine breaks, will I be able to just get a new one under warranty?

    • @OldSchoolNoe

      The current icon ratchets might go on clearance! My understanding is, if your ratchet breaks, it has a lifetime warranty, so they would have to replace it with another ICON ratchet, even if its the new G2 ratchet.

    Been waiting to pick up that little icon set when it comes out. But looking at the pics and the $80 price makes me glad that I picked up the Craftsman V-series kit on sale for $39 (of course the regular price was much more than that). Also, wonder how similar the icon will be to that craftsman since supposedly they are made by the same people. (I also have a couple of the tiny icon kits that are already out that I strap a rail with sockets to it and put in a couple of cars) Actually. Wow. After having a much closer look, the box and latch are very very similar to the V-Series. I also modified my V-Series by putting the flex head 1/4" ratchet in there and also dropped a 15mm socket in there for more range. The icon looks like it might have SAE and metric

    Hey Bro, Thank You! You are def the 1st to bring up that module that controls the key fob! I picked up a relatively clean 120k mile 2000 LeSabre with No rust & I cannot get the key fobs to program. Does it require a scan tool? Because many videos say 2 hold the unlock button on the door while cycling the ignition 2 or 3 times, then let off the button & hold in both of the lock & unlock buttons on the key fob. Where do I get a replacement module & what is it called? My trunk latch is messed up so it's a chore to get inside the trunk until I spend another $50-75..

I found a bad connection at the positive replacement cable end, but not before finding the factory grounds missing. I have it fixed now and it starts, but now I need to add a ground strap from that motor mount for sure. Some hotshot mechanic probably shortened that negative cable and put a new end on it and bolted it to the motor mount instead, thinking the starter would ground fine through the block, which it does seem to be doing.

      In theory you should be able to remove the transmission leaving the torque converter in place on the flex plate, you'll just have to have enough room to slide the transmission more to clear the converter, you'll have to reinstall the torque converter onto the transmission when you reinstall it on the new motor, aswell as you'll have to replace all your transmission fluid since the converter will spill its fluid once disconnected from the transmissions input shaft, there's no way around this because the transmission has an anti drain back valve for the converter so draining the pan won't be enough, just be mindful of that and have a bucket under you when you pull it, otherwise it's not much different of a process, once separated you should be able to unbolt the converter without being able to turn the motor
