NEVER EVER, my older sister had to gate keep me. "Did you do you homework?" she would ask me, I would look at her and just turn it off. she is only 2 years older. Then in the mid 90s my BABY cousin got a SNES that I would take home (we lived in the same building) PLAY IT for HOOOOURS. I try to get into them today but it's just not the same, BUT I REALLY want to get into it again. I still have that SNES that I traded my cousin for a GBA. and I have the switch...

Amazing how far technology has come but the nostalgia from this is so great. Mario's physics for jumping are just so legendary they never quite got it right with any other game

2:00 OMG who remembers jumping up from that moving platform to land "above" the game and find that secret "warp zone". It felt like you found out a secret nobody else knew about. As if it were some sort of glitch that only you knew about and you'd show it off to your friends haha. Epic times.

Wow this brings back memories. My favorite game as a kid in the 90s. This and Street Fighter. No game compares to these even in modern times, imo.
I can remember playing this as a teenager. This is a childhood favorite. Fortunately, I actually have this along with Double Dribble, Contra, Mike Tyson punchout, etc, as playable files on my computer. I get to relive my childhood whenever I want to. Occasion fun times.

@@djthereplay I think that's the reason I just knda faded out of video games. Like, not long after the 90's, early 2000's, I just wasn't feeling it anymore. Also, a lot of the biggest games were shooting games at the time, and I got bored with it. I like these simple games.

Like the games that are much easier to play and don't require as much gymnastics if you will the way that today's video games that are more like arcade style games brought to video game consoles and stuff like that. I feel you and I am with you. Really it all depends on the person but for me today's arcade style games would be harder for me to master because there are so many more things to them versus the simple video games of the past.
@@aaronharlow2137it's not just that a lot of them were shooters, it's that they were tactical shooters. Playing any a them CS:GOs or Calls of Duty is nothing like playing, say, Doom, or Duke Nukem or Blood. These "boomer shooters" are very dynamic - it's always best to constantly be on the move while firing against the demons/aliens/cultists with your arsenal. If you stay still, you're dead. Even if Blood allowed you to be more tactical by throwing lit bundles of dynamite around corners, movement still played a big part.
In these more modern shooters tho? For a long while, what you did was take cover, shoot, heal, repeat. Coupled with the drab environments, it's not like it made for the most engaging of experiences. The games were popular with the younger kids because those were the edgy and gritty years, where you were only cool if you played "real games for men, with guns and death and grit, none a those kiddy colorful games like Mario or Kirby".
Now, let's not pretend like there were no games for other audiences. The late 2000s and early 2010s saw a huge rise in the Retro gaming trend, many other Nintendo games had released (even if half of the Mario games were NSMB, I feel bad for the 2D Mario fans of the time), so it was an all rounder - there were games for everyone.
Even these later years have seen a huge rise in the games that everyone wanted yet weren't usually delivered by the AAA studios. The biggest ones by the biggest companies - Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Metroid, Sonic, Rayman, Doom, -Cash Banooca- Crash Bandicoot, -Simon the Door- Spyro the Dragon, Resident Evil... even really small icons of yore, like Kao the Kangaroo and Psychonauts!
And I haven't even touched upon the indie game developers! They're the ones making the games everyone wants, and even the ones you don't know yet that you want until you start playing them! Not just fanmade games, like Rayman Redemption, the definitive way to play the original PS1 game, but completely original IPs too! Even romhacks and mods of already existing games, there are metric tons of those, for many of the biggest and most adored games in history! And the Retro scene has moved away from the typical 8-bit 2D games to the 16-bit era of gaming, and especially the early 3D games of the N64 and PS1 era. There's truly games for everyone, especially nowadays, you just gotta know where to look.

I remember being a kid in the 80's and playing this and being in awe over discovering so many different hidden boards and worlds. I bet I know some things that even the best players don't know. So many different tricks. You could literally be occupied with this game for 3 years at least.

My son still has the Original NES that I bought for him back in 1986 & still has all 3 of the Original Super Mario Bros including The Gun for the Duck Hunt Game.
He also has the Original Ninja Gaiden Game & a lot of other NES Game's as well.

i came into 8-4 big with fireballs and when I beat it i was small!!! I tried to fight Koopa with all I had and those hammers got to me....I was short of breath, tired, mentally exhausted and excited. Just when I thought I was gonna die koopa jumped and I ran as fast as i could under him and got to the axe; once I did it I couldn't believe it...I BEAT KOOPA KING; I BEAT SUPER MARIO BROTHERS!!! I cheered my butt off; I remember it being a fri or sat night because it was way past my bedtime, so it had to be a weekend

I've Played Both Old and New Mario. Even though mario version from 2012 had very Good Graphics Quality and Sounds I still like old one ❤️❤️❤️ music of Old mario is really nice and has something special ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
