I reconnected with Doom in the last 6 months for the first time since its initial releases. It's like stumbling on a world I never knew, so I totally agree with you there. Still blew my mind to see that Cyriak made Doom maps, I only realised when I was mid-way through Going Down that it was the funny animations guy!

It's kind of crazy how many names from around the internet you'll recognize in the Doom community. It's been pretty popular and fairly easy to get into for a long time, so it seems like most people have made a map or a midi or a mod or something at some point.
