7:30 in, THIS is what I clicked for… I remember watching this with my dad growing up, I was born in 86 and I always liked that part of this song, so calming and soothing and melodic, bravo Ennio… Rest In Peace
A great provoking masterpiece of music that even may conquer your mind and spirit; not anymore these days ........not anymore talens like Morricone.....
I think the closest fantasy film of recent years that came close to capturing the spirit of action combined with a great score was The 13th Warrior. It's so true, Whenever someone says what's your fave sword and sorcery films, most times the reply will be "Conan!" :o)
Robert Rodriguez was gonna bring it back, but I guess productions behind the scenes fell apart. Too bad it might have been bad ass. Rose McGowan was gonna play Red Sonja. She said was training for quite sometime for the part. This was back at SDCC 2007. I had an awesome promo shirt with her dress as Red Sonja.
Ennio Morricone was downright AWESOME in making the musical scores for such a wonderful but unappreciated movie Red Sonja. My favorite is the musical score in the ending credits named "Love Theme". Additionally, the movie was great. It was meant to be a great family movie. Can't wait for the new verson who I believe Red Sonja will be played by Rose McGowyn from the old Charmed television show.
I love these old fantasy movies, they really had something that makes you remember them, while the new one, no matter how great they look, you just sit and enjoy them for 2 hours and then forget all about them...
I wish Ennio Morricone would have done his take on Star Wars idk I love hearing composer put their twist on other things also John Williams doing for a few dollars more would be boss.
damn straight. these old fantasy movies had that epic feel of majestic adventures and quests, these newer fantasy movie (thanks to LOTR) are now more forgettable because they're action-adventure flicks with flashy-shaky-camera action scenes and golden bland landscapes with no personality or dramatic sense to them.

I do not understand why this photoplay was fatally stabbed at the box office. It is very good; however, I would have rewritten several scenes and written a new one adding more plot and character development. And it also stinks that two scenes in the theatrical trailer never appeared in the final cut of the picture.
Interesting that in old movie they made good strong female hero, which is also believable and in new movies if they try to make such characters they just have power of feminism ;)
At the beginning the sword master that Sonja is learning from says something along the lines of "...a young woman should never hate men. Hating men might be your downfall." I kid you not, it made a strong female character that was told not to hate men. Maybe this movie should be shown to all feminists.
I don't think there was a soundtrack of this movie. I have a soundtrack called arnold movies i got it almost 15 years ago and that score is ni this CD.
Honestly to classic Conan doesn't have better plot then the new one. Unlike Arnie, Jason can actually act but boy did I hate the reboot. And for some reason I kind of like the old Conan... probably because of the amazing soundtrack.
This may be Ennio Morricone’s most underrated score. And despite how schlocky the film was, Morricone always provided quality. May his memory live on for the ages. Rest In Peace.
@@jswin2084 After watching conan 1 and loving sandahl i just couldnt see her as a villain, its like other actors you get used to see them as good and you cant change that mental image. In one of the last frames of the final fight you can see the actress expression like why im doing this. In these movies you truly need a villain you grow to hate. That same problem happens with conan 2, there wasnt a truly villain here it was more like a mess and betrayal. And of course that dated monster at the end.
@@LtCommanderTato I fell deeply in love with Sandahl B. I dated a woman who had the same eyes, and lost her to sickness. This might be personal for UA-cam. Some times when I watch Conan the barbarian, I see her shadow in Sandahl's face. The scene when Conan lights the pyre makes me very sad. Cheers to you. You have fine taste in women and music my friend.
Gal Gadott could pull off a red sonja reboot. Kinda funny how SJW talk about not having enough strong female characters in movies. Like you said. BOTH characters were total bad asses! :)
For Real this movie was great compare to the Hercules and Xena shows back in the 90s. I was probably 9 or 10 when I saw this. I'm surprised that this was a box office bomb back then cause I loved it!

The performances are awful, the action is awful, the whole film just looks drab and between the aforementioned awful action scenes it is just massively dull. The soundtrack is banging, yes, but a banging soundtrack does not a good film make.
Marvel would have to approve it. Also, judging by the fact she’s a Redhead, they may make her woke or black. No offense or trying to be racist but movies or shows so far with Redheads become dark skinned. Starfire from Teen Titans, Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Batgirl etc.
7:23 was my favorite part. Really wish Hollywood would bring back this amazing heroine from the books/comics to the screen or maybe even a Netflix original series.
I too wish that would happen but I don't think Red Sonja would be suitable to nowadays audiences. Arnold signed a deal to do three Conan movies. Despite a few nifty fight scenes the movie was disappointing. But the music was great.
"Hundra" is a very similar UK film that came out 2yrs B4 in 1983. It was much lower budget but has a much more overtly sexual plot! The films' scores are very similar to me as well...
@tag1989 Well yes, let's be fair! Red Sonya is broadcasted at least once a year. It is a classic like Conan, Flash Gordon or Big trouble in little China...
+Gabriel A. but my point is, i dont enjoy those games and they are not built around high fantasy, they are grimdark and rely on cheap deaths and memorization of enemy layout like a megaman game
+Gabriel A. skyrim is barely high fantasy, dark souls is not, i have played both, i like neither. skyrim isnt very good in general, dark souls is grimdark and set up the same as megaman with memorization instead of balanced combat the like of a platinum game or even a skyrim type rpg. yes, it is beatable once you remember exactly where each and every monster is, which is why they have that "blood stain" mechanic. its basically monster hunter, but the monsters damage per attack is turned up to 11 and they're hidden around corners, so they are impossible to see on approach. if you enjoy the gameplay thats fine, but its not classic high fantasy with goblins and trolls and elven kingdoms, and i dont enjoy the gameplay maybe ill try the conan mmo, or dragon's dogma if i can find a copy
Imho, this movie suffered most from having the wrong director. His style is more humorous than serious kinda like Conan The Destroyer. Music is slamming though.
But i do agree that most big fantasy themed stuff that comes out these days are filled with more fancy effects than actual substance, but not all, they give the look of something that you know for certain that's just alot of CGI, i'll admit that some of oldies can be kinda cheesy, but for those who are not they really give you the feeling that THIS is a fantasy saga, from centuries past. LOTR for me was the perfect balance between story, music and effects, that gaves us something to remember.
Red Sonja was one of my first favourite movies. I'll always remember the score.
