This was the music of my Youth. 70s many I had never Heard before. But others I recognize from many elevator rides, radio stations commercials. t.v. ads, etc. Ennio was a brilliant artist appreciated by just as many here in America as well as across Europe. Sometimes I wished I could go back to those more simpler times.

I tried to find this beauty on Apple Music to download but, surprise, surprise, it wasn’t there. So I went and pulled each of the individual tracks from each album and made my own playlist. Of course, I had trouble finding the final track (appropriately titled “L’Ultimo” from Ideato, Scritto e Diretto Da Ennio Morricone) because that album is out of print but luckily someone had it on UA-cam so I was able to get it that way. So many great songs from the Maestro, he will always be loved and appreciated for generations to come.

Imagine that "Maddalena" was not a successful movie. I heard concert versions without voices, only the orchestra, and it was still catchy and breathtakingly beautiful. Morricone hadn't forgotten this score, and obviously still liked it, during his concert tour days.

I have to admit... I forget the main character's name, but ...his journey from self-absorbed materialist, to crash and burn, to awareness of having a purpose in life beyond what he takes/gets, to someone with renewed integrity/ideals based on caring about what he gives... "The Sounds" of Maestro Morricone embody every form & level of deep rooted Emotions; and heightened even moreso, with his complex installments of Simoltaneous Feelings.
I am always STUNNED by his Compositions and unexpected layering of his unusual Melodies and unprecedented Arrangements. (A sure Sign of his "Italian (Roman) DNA"!! And his Father, Mario Morricone added his own Musical DNA to Ennio, as he, too, was a Musician!)
This blessed Soul is in his own CLASS.

Yes, instead of a solo singer, a Moog Synthesizer starred. (btw, the version here is with , what is it, a clarinet?, and not a synth!)
The Moog was relatively new, in those days, and Morricone used it rarely, I think he didn't consider it a "real" instrument.Imagine what he found of the mellotron! He never used it.
Fanzine Musico Sul Velluto once did an item on organ music in EM music. I no longer have that issue, a pity. Up to 1977, for Hammon and church organ parts the maestro used Bruno Nicolai. There are sparse synthesizer bits though in Le Trio Infernal, My Name Is Nobody, his delightful "Arrangements" album and a few other 70s scores.
The Revolver track you mention I discovered on the fabulous double LP "Il Filmi Della Violenza" from 1975. At that moment I only had about 15 Morricoine records collected, so that compilation release was a revelation-- a cornucopia of EM filmmusic, the themes were very diverse, and there were no "violent" cues at all! I've ben waiting for 50 years for a CD version, it never came...
I do like the vocal and orchestral 'Un Amico' cues, but stil find the synth version really epic. The CD rellease from 2006 mentions it specifically; "synth version".
