    Thank you for the great feedback. The Neotec is a great helmet, it was even our helmet pick of the year for the 2012 ZLA awards! ~Ali

    I have had this helmet for almost a year and all I can say is AWESOME! The first time I put it on, I knew it was the helmet for me. It instantly fit comfortably and has broken in and fits even better. The quality of the pads is first rate. The channels allowing you to wear glasses is key for me. I even wore it all summer here in Albuquerque and the venting works just as advertised. It is expensive, but worth it. The fit and finish are top notch.

    This is the best helmet review I have ever seen. Thank you. I have been through 2 previous modular helmets in under a month, and I saw all of my dislikes addressed with this one helmet. Provisions for glasses, the removable padding is way about the others, amazing ventilation and the locking mechanism. And you can tell that the seal is lightyears ahead of the others.

    I've had the Shoei Neotech Helmet for about 4 months now. It fits great, it's comfortable, it's modular. Living in Phoenix, it gets HOT in the summertime (I ride all year) and this helmet vents greatly!!
    My purchase was solidified by this video review. Anthony's reviews of their products are great.

    I have a Pinlock installed on my Arai helmet and ride home in the dark everyday. I've never had any trouble seeing through the shield and the fact that it is always clear, even on cold winter evenings makes it a must-have. I would highly recommend the Pinlock upgrade for anyone who rides in humid, rainy or foggy conditions. ~Ali

    I have the Neotec and I'm very happy with it. The cheek pads did hurt my jaw for the first couple hours of riding, but after breaking them in, I have had no issues. The wind noise in this helmet is probably the loudest I have experienced, but I use ear plugs so it's not a problem. The exceptional airflow during the summer is well worth the tradeoff. I would definitely buy this helmet again.

    I've had a Shoei Multitec for a number of years and love the helmet, but I must say after seeing the new features on the Neotec I am sold!

    I bought the Neotec a few weeks ago and have ridden 5,000 miles around the country with it. It fits beautifully but I had to swap out the cheek pads for the 31mm. It gets excellent airflow, and is relatively quiet. The included anti-fog pinlock works like a charm.

    I absolutely love my Neotec, never thought I would buy a modular helmet for safety reasons but now I would never give it up. In nearly a year of wearing it I have never been let down, the noise level is on par with my RF1100 and X-12 but the comfort and easy of use is off the chart. Would defiantly recommend!

    Great review which is relevant even here in 2019 where this helmet can be had for about half the price of the Neotec 2. For me that price difference is a no brainer, so I got myself a new old Neotec model😉

    This is definitely the best helmet I've ever owned. I was a little afraid to get a modular helmet but now I'm loving it. This helmet has the features I'm looking for - modular, pinlock inserts, and built-in sun visor. The ventilation is great, and all the padding is removable, replaceable, and you can get different size pads to better fit your face.

    I just came back from my long trip in the Alps. We had temperatures from 4C in Austria Alps to 38C on our way back to Venice!! I had numerous problems with my Nolan and since I give value to my head I bought the Shoei Neotec with the Caberg bluetooth. The helmet is excellent!! We compared this lid to the BMW system 5 the Suomi and the shuberth c3. Honestly Shoei is far superior in all sectors. More quiet, no fogy visor and extremely efficient in the heat (38C). TOP rated by far!!!

    The installation of the Sena 10R into my Shoei Neotec went perfectly. In fact, the better quality and slightly larger speakers from the Sena 20S that come with the 10R fit perfectly
    into the speaker pockets of the Shoei Neotec. The speakers even fit with the Sena supplied foam speaker covers and the Shoei trim that covers the speaker pockets even snapped back into place. All you need to do is remove the foam pads which are too thick and dense from the Shoei speaker trim covers and then use a glue solvent to remove the residue left on them followed by washing them in detergent.

    The Neotec can use any aftermarket Comm system. One of our staff members who commutes daily has tested both the Sena SMH10, the Cardo G9 and the new HBC200 on his Neotec with ease. ~Ali

  • @GregHassler
    @GregHassler 11 років тому

    Yes I use the pinlock system, and I've only taken it out for cleaning. The only issue I would say is that at night you can sometimes get like a double glare from bright lights, but it doesn't really bother me. My insert is clear and I use the built-in sun shade if I need it darker. They do sell tinted pinlock inserts - those are the ones I would guess you wouldn't want to use in dark conditions but the clear is fine.

  • @RevZilla
    @RevZilla  11 років тому

    Yes, either is fine. You just need to mount the unit in a way that it doesn't sit on the bevel line in the shell. Above or behind it both work. -CK

    This is an excellent review of Shoei Neotec Helmet very informative. The local shops where I live can't give me half the information on this helmet that RevZilla have provided here. This is an excellent helmet fantastic ventilation for hot weather. The padding bedded down after 8 hours of riding and is now very comfortable. Best helmet I have ridden with to date.

  • @RevZilla
    @RevZilla  11 років тому

    I think the Shoei Neotec is one of the safest modular helmets on the market. I don't wear modular helmets, but if I had to pick one, it would be the Neotec. There is some compromise when you go from full face to modular because the shell can not disperse as much surface energy as a full face shell. ~Ali

  • @t.kevinwilson6563
    @t.kevinwilson6563 12 років тому

    Aside from the Neotec size / shape issue addressed in another review, it is a fantastic helmet. Flows a bunch of air - you can actually feel it. Surprisingly quiet for a modular. Love the intenal sun visor. It comes low enough to be useful - unlike some others that stop in your field of vision. Everything you'd expect from a Shoei helmet. The sizing / shape change is an issue for me, but I love the rest of the helmet features so much I'm going to find a way to deal with it and make it work.

  • @RevZilla
    @RevZilla  11 років тому

    Yes, and this one in particular runs larger due to the internal sun-visor. -CK

    It takes about 2-4 weeks to break in, depending on how much you use the helmet. If after a month you find the cheekpads to be too tight, you might want to consider a smaller pair. ~Ali

    Great review. Just got my Neotec last week and love it! Another nice feature is the ability to get the center/cheek pads in a firmer/looser fit. The ventilation is very good and makes this a very comfortable lid for long rides.

  • @RevZilla
    @RevZilla  12 років тому

    @energiecell Tough call dude. You should try them both to see if you prefer the fit of one over the other. Can't go wrong either way. We are pumped about them both!

  • @RevZilla
    @RevZilla  11 років тому

    The Schuberth C3 Pro fixed a bit of roundness in their shape, so it is a good option, however, if you constantly get that pressure point on your forehead, I'd consider the Neotec instead. -CK

  • @RevZilla
    @RevZilla  12 років тому

    Sizes are comparable, but internal fitting shape is different. Multitec is slightly more neutral / round and the Neotec is more intermediate oval.

    I love my Neotec. I watched a lot of video reviews online while shopping for a new helmet.

  • @mooderridesordies
    @mooderridesordies 12 років тому

    Based on the video review I gave the helmet a try and couldn't be happier. Seems as quiet if not quieter than my first full face( a scorpion ex700). Functionality is amazing, with the single hinge and the drop down screen. However, I have to say that cleaning the inner screen can be a bit of a pain. When driving through a dusty part of town at slow speed, I raised the visor but left the screen down and it attracted dust in a way that would have made swiffer proud. Overall, still love it.

  • @RevZilla

    Too many factors to make a definitive call of quietness. Fit will have the most impact on noise reduction but then of course the type of bike makes a huge difference. Give our Gear Experts a call and they can talk you through the differences!

    For 25 years I've been a LG in Shoei helmets. I currently own Qwest & Multitec with J&M headsets. When I saw the Neotec, I watched all the videos & ordered a LG with a J&M headset. It was immediately apparent that Neotec has a different shape - it pressed on my ears causing pain making it unwearable. I ended up having to start over with an XL which still requires some tweaking once it's on my head to get it situated just right. None of the videos mentioned the change in shape.

    @CrystalBill Multitech vs Neotec, the Neo is a hair heavier. We believe it's the added internal sun visor system that added the nudge.

    Shoei makes a US version of the Neotec that all have the D-ring. In the graphics and the solid. In Europe and Asia, I believe all versions have the ratchet. We wouldn't be able to sell you a ratchet version, but I think with a little searching, you might be able to find a non-graphic version with the ratchet. ~Ali

    @2rusin I also work in the bike industry, we sell these in the UK, and after seing all 3 there is definately Pro's and cons to all 3:
    Neotec is the first Helmet to have an internal Sun visor without ruining the integraty of the Shell (Doesnt cut away any of the EPs Liner)
    Schuberth, extremely comfortable, provenly quiet and aerodynamic and massively popular amongst those who have on already.
    Nolan N-104 is legal to ride flipped up (providing that you have the switch in the J Position)

  • @AlphaOmega-1776
    @AlphaOmega-1776 8 років тому

    Regarding the sun visor - the coverage is not going low enough as the video suggests. Tried it on and you get pretty much same gap like in most other brands, maybe slightly less, but still not enough. If there are other helmets that have retractable sun visor with better coverage - it'll be good to mention along.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  8 років тому

      +M.J. Baum We have not found any helmets that offer more sun visor coverage yet, but you may be able to wear the helmet rotated a bit more forward. If the chin bar is just a bit lower, the sun visor will come down lower as well. -DrewZilla

    OK, so I'm torn: Shoe GT Air Journey / Shoei Neotec / Schuberth C3.
    Must-haves: 1. Internal flip down sun visor, 2. Lowest possible noise level 3. $600 budget (some flexibility)
    Modular is a plus, but not a deal-breaker. Leaning towards Neotec FWIW.
    Thanks!

  • @bltefft

    My new Neotec (XXL) arrived today and I'm looking forward to wearing it. I just ordered the 31 mm check pads (it comes with 35mm). It's a shame that Shoei doesn't let you choose a size cheek pad when you buy the ($649.00) helmet.
    After I've worn it for awhile, I'll come back and add to my comments.

    I am also in the market for one of these two modular helmets! I would like to see a side by side comparison! This still looks huge in size compared to the schuberth C3... and if its longer and taller then the multitec this sounds like its gonna look like a bobble head for sure!

    The purpose of modular helmets is so the rider can be treated by EMS and ER staff in the event of a wreck without having to remove the helmet and possibly compromising the integrity of the skull and possible intubation in the field by EMS. FYI.

    Good to know. I knew it couldn't pass a Snell test but it slipped past me that these helmets can't pas ECE either. Doesn't make me feel any better about being forced into this helmet. Oh and it ventilates for crap unless your doing 60+, after that it's reasonably good. If your using it in heavy traffic you will have to keep the shield up to keep from suffocating. And there is insufficient room at the front of the helmet to comfortably fit a wind shielded boom mic unless you like the feeling of the foam against your mouth all the time.

    Hello Revzilla, two questions: 1st. I am about to buy a top end touring
    helmet and have narrowed the brands to a Shoei(neotec) or Schubert(c3 Pro).
    My problem: I have a "small"(56cm) but rather oval head, so in
    some brands the choice is "M" and others "S".
    Which of the two models do you think is more suitable for my skull??..(or overall better)

    An other advantage of that shape is that there is more space for a mic. On the part of noise I have an other question: what if I attach a communicationdivice on the helmed? I must choose between a sena smh10 witch is rather bulky and has no radio or a midland BT next (best in motorradtest and very slim) i missed it in your other test (but that 's of topic now) Will the size effect al the good work of noisecanceling? (and do you perhaps know witch has he best speakers?)

    Thanks nice in depth video, but how difficult if possible is it to replace the inner sun visor ?¿

      +numismatric Due to the tight tolerances, it is a bit difficult to replace the inner visor yourself. -DrewZilla

    Love the helmet, saw it in store then immediately ordered it from my phone. My biggest main concern is because I am still a new rider, I wonder if these type of helmet give the same exact protection as my full-face HJC CL17 would, or any other full-face. I really hope it does lol, I want to use this helmet and not feel worried about the protection vs a true full-face where in a crash, there are no hinges or parts that could potentially separate leaving you somewhat vulnerable.

      Daniel Jackson I think you answered your own question. "There are no hinges or parts that could potentially separate leaving you somewhat vulnerable." It sounds like a full-face will keep you focused on your ride and not your helmet. -Hi-Viz Brian
