Yep I was on a 1400 mile trip and my o ring gave out!
I now have the Rekluse slave cylinder!
I would note that mine gave out at 15,000 miles yes that’s right 15,000 miles.
But I fixed it with a 7/8 o ring from a tractor shop.
I was solo 600 miles from home and in the middle of nowhere when it happened (video coming soon lol)

    Good news are:
    1. For bikes from 2018 to 2020 there is a recall for the slave cylinder problem.
    2. Starting 2021 there is a new slave cylinder and it seems they have finally fixed this issue.

Replaced mine about a week ago with the Oberon so far so good. This was on a 21 the oem slave looked different from the 2020 on the inside so I believe so they might have changed it. I did mine because I didn't want it to go out while rideing

welcome to the club....it's very known that the O-ring of the membrane breaks down. I changed my O-ring to 3'rd party based on different rubber material (I think hdpe) like dozens riders in our group and for them (I'm new) it's working for long time.

I had the slave cylinders fail on both the KTM 950 and 990. It's just one of the many things you pretty much have to plan on upgrading. I see a lot of reviews of new bikes and I often hear "well one downfall is that it has a cable clutch". Well, they might not be as smooth as a hydraulic clutch, but a heck of a lot easier to fix on the trail.

Mine failed me in town. My phone was dying...luckily, a 701SM was going past. He went, got his truck and took me all the way home and wouldn't even accept gas money. I have a rekluse slave cylinder in now, me thinks? Was a couple years back.

    • @craighoffman6876
      @craighoffman6876 Рік тому

15 miles? Kinda good actually, at least he got the clutch slave replacement deal out of the way. Ya, one could warranty it, but why bother? KTM clutch slaves may fail immediately or after many years, like it did on my 2010 450. The longer they take to fail, the more they lull you into believing that you "got a good one" and that it won't fail. Don't buy into it - they all eventually will fail, the question is when. 😆
This reminds me, while it is working fine, I need to order an Oberon for my new 1,000 miles on it '23 701, for the peace of mind if nothing else. Shouldn't have to, but I knew this going in as a long time KTM owner. The 690 platform is just plain awesome, and it's little quirks are worth dealing with.

      Hi Lavi
Suggest joining the Facebook Husqvarna 701 group - thousands of owners there to give advice.
      From my understanding:
Husky 701 - bit more trail focused (Enduro version) and trick bits
KTM 690 - bit more road focused
Up to you, I bought the 701 and think it’s a great bike, but let’s face it there’s not much between the two!

The same happened twice with my 690. The first at 300 km and the second at 3000 km. Dealer says the factory had changed smth in cylinder design at my second time. Will see. Anyway the one recommendation is not to pull the clutch lever up to handle bar with the lever regulated for far travel.

@@whiteknuckleracer1182 I dont understand what you are trying to get at. its obvious all off road motorcycles fall.
