    That exhaust is why this bike is legal in numerous countries, that isn't KTM causing this problem, it is government.

  • @TheAhdoodoo

    The reason the muffler is so big and heavy is because they integrated a catalytic converter with the muffler starting with euro 4 emissions. That’s also why it gets so hot. Aftermarket muffler is a must on almost every new bike in my opinion though.

    • @Chris-hj3lc
      @Chris-hj3lc 3 роки тому +1

      Agree with Curtis Xavier. There are necessary mods that must be immediately placed on this bike. Exhaust is one of those. KTM was forced to do so to make it a 50 state bike regarding emissions. If you can’t afford the mods, then stick with the POS Honda XR650 ha ha!

      It is convenient that the CAT is integrated into the muffler instead of in the header somewhere, as it is simple to get rid of it. 😆

    The 701 is a fantastic bike, and I’m very happy with mine. It does however, like you point out, need some aftermarket goodies to perform to its potential, but it’s the same with all bikes 🙂

    Papar air filters outperform foam... at filtration. That advantage only increases as service intervals lengthen. I’d not use a foam filter on a bike with 6000 mile service intervals and a long expected engine life. Foam flows better for increased power... but I just use it on track bikes not bikes that will see a lot of miles. For dirt bikes that will see frequent engine rebuilds foam makes sense... but the 701 is supposed to have a longer time between rebuilds and the poor filtration efficiency of foam could become an issue.

      yeah dude too bad husqvarna doesnt give the rights to other company to make stuff for their bikes, for example if you want to change a plastic kit the only one available is the OEM and it costs like a lot, there are some fixes out there but not for all the problems, the engine has got some weaknesses that cant be fixed for example

    Actually the massive exhaust can does make sense. KTM have to put a CAT somewhere and so they put it in a can that they know everyone will discard on day one. If they put it under the engine like the T7 it is much more difficult to get rid o and makes the bike heavier than i needs to be. That said, it is dangerously hot and they should fit with a heat guard even if just to protect the owner long enough until it is replaced.

    The exhaust part may be fixed with a richer air to fuel ratio. My 800GS ran at the "optimal" 14.7:1 for emissions purposes. I put in an AFXIED to adjust AFR to around 14.1 so it would not stall as easily, but a side benefit is that it runs cooler as well.

    I give you more: the light of the front lamp is just as weak, as the connection points of it. LED should be the stock solution. 2, You cant switch of the front ABS. 3, The side stand sensor can easily get you in trouble, when you cant start the bike becouse of it in the middle of nowhere. Other than that and your list, its a perfect bike for dual sport riding.

    Hey bro! The steel screws of your windshield helped to an unexpexted catastrophic failure. Usually they are made of plastic/nylon ones, its kinda mechanical fuse. The windscreen work as a lever that increase the forces to broke it and everything attached to it, and, thats why nylon screws should came into action. Have a look on some oem windshield, specially Japanese ones.

  • @LimitEdit
    @LimitEdit 3 роки тому

    The exhaust pipe is big, heavy and hot but not that bad at all. Most of the aftermarket Exhaust bring less power, then the stock one. This is due to the lack of volume and if its one thing that emissions restricted 1 cylinder love is volume in the pipe. Totally agree with you the over complicated assembly of some things and the lack of protection

When it comes to the 701, great machine like a giant dirt bike that can actually do tight single, just change the tires for some knobbies if doing mostly 50 50 with some single track in there. 500 is mostly doing trails and single track

      @@RWWRENTAL would a 450 be able to cruise comfortably on the highway at 75 or more miles per hour? Would it be able to do so carrying two up? Are any of them built for high mileage and low maintenance reliability and have plenty of oil capacity?
      It seems like we're stuck between a lightweight dirt bike with license plates, gargantuas heavy adventure bike that you can't even pick up if you're alone.
      A lot of us don't care about trying to compete or drive like a racer Offroad, we just want to explore and have a good time stop being stressed out about dropping the bike, and be able to cruise on the highway back home, sometimes your partner on back
      I had an XT 600 that only weighed 300 pounds and would do that quite well for the day and top out over 100 mph, It seems like we should have a drastic improvement over that today, sounds like the 701 is the bike?

    Any modern bike disintegrates in a crash. All plastic veneer and cheap alloy. Profits v durability. Such is modern life...until we send a clear message and stop buying them they will continue to erode quality.

      you are right. it seems most modern dualsport get wrecked pretty hard in a decent crash. even my TE250i cracked the rear subframe when I sent it flying. they dont make them like they used to. Perhaps my next bike will be a YZ250x I think yamaha still builds it traditionally

    Starts off the video saying "one of my favorites" and then whines about simple little BS issues. Every moto is going to have some weak points.

      You must be a special kind of stupid and honestly feel sorry for you with the kind of mentality you have.
      1. I am not even Mexican nor Have any family history with Mexican descent.
      2. It's 2021 and you are still pulling racism?
      3. People in this world hate your train of thought.
      Good luck in life, you will need it.
