The drive from Sugarland airport to CRP is about 180 miles or 2 and a half hours. By the time this lady drove to SGR…then from CRP by Uber etc. to downtown Corpus…this was a very expensive way to maybe save her a couple of minutes. I have done these flights from KAUS to Memphis etc. in a C-210 and A-36 and although still cost quite a bit more than round trip on Southwest…I was looking for a reason to fly anyway. Your Malibu would be great for longer trips and God bless you for helping!
Yes, you’re absolutely right. This is one of the missions that made me slow down on accepting flights. I’ve become much more picky. I even had someone tell me offhand that they didn’t really need a flight, but wanted their family member who was traveling with them (and capable of driving) to experience it.
i rode with you while helping a lady to chemo appt--i am a bonanza guy but that malibu sure seems a great plane --thanks for the ride along--mike in iowa n1566z
I’ve done a lot of PALS and Angel Flights and it’s possible someone is abusing it, but that’s ok because the vast majority really need these services. So many interesting stories from passengers, but overall they are just having a really difficult time in their life and this really makes it easier on them.
I also own a Malibu so I love watching how other operate theirs. Would love to see additional camera angles, especially of the panel. The fish eye lens doesn't provide great clarity or view of much in particular. Thanks for the video and I look forward to the next one.
David, good call out! I swapped cameras maybe two flights ago (GoPro 10 on the ceiling) and it looks much better. Soon you'll see the difference - hopefully it's better :-). How long have you had a Malibu?
@@TaftLove I've had it 2 years now, it's a 1986 with the Continental 550, love running LOP!! Such great airplanes, I always look forward to going flying!
Vetting of Angel Flights seems to be inconsistent. On the last one I did (years ago), the passenger talked about their new Cadillac Escalade and how they did the flight only because it’s free. Still good to help others, of course. And very nice Malibu!
Hey! Excellent video! I'm also based out of EDC, and would love to connect with you! Owning a Malibu is part of my long-term goals, and it would be really amazing to chat with you about it!
really interesting flights. Many thanks for posting. Flying is so different in the States than UK/Europe
Thanks! What are the ways you see that it’s different? I’m unfamiliar with flying outside of the US and Mexico.

Great video and love that you are doing volunteer flights!
Thanks Greg - I appreciate it!
Nice, thanks for sharing. Texas BBQ, yummy!
You bet!
I failed to activate just last month! All of a sudden I wondered how I blasted through final approach course.
It’s definitely easy to do! Hopefully it didn’t get you in trouble with ATC.

Yeah that totally makes sense!

Good video but the camera shot to the cockpit is horrible
Thanks Byron. Completely agree! I swapped for a Hero 10 and it’s much better now. I use the 360 to see the views outside now.

Oh man that's painful... Hope I don't get anyone like that. Thanks - really enjoying the plane so far!

Thanks! We meet a while ago (through Chris L). Still need to get with you to set up a trip to Mexico. We should pick a day and go fly soon.
