- Retro Rides Australia showcases the Holden Commodore (VT), which launched in August 1997 as a significant advancement for Holden. Immediately upon its debut, it secured the prestigious 1997 Wheels Car of the Year award, marking the fourth time a Commodore had achieved this honor. The VT series quickly gained popularity among buyers who preferred its more conventional styling over the bold design of the Ford Falcon (AU). It became the top-selling Commodore model, solidifying its position as the leading choice in the Australian market during its era.

I now daily a ls1 wh statesman, after 15 years of an hq daily. Amazing. Love it.
I’ve had a vt s3 ss as a Sunday cruiser for over a year, awesome car
The VT was arguably Holden's most successful car ever - and it's most beautiful. They did upgrades, but they never really surpassed the beauty of the VT. The series I with the Australian V8 is probably the one to have - as you say it had more torque lower down in the rev range, whereas the the Gen III V8 had it higher up. However, the Gen III V8 also had a few issues early on - it was notorious for "pinging" and could go through oil at an alarming rate. These issues were fixed in the later iterations of the engine. Anyone who bought and drove a VT back in the late 90s / early 2000s, wouldn't believe it if you told them that the company would be gone only 20 years later..........
Yeah, Opel did a great job with the proportions..
@@Hapkido82AUS just a little narrow, we fixed that.
@@Hapkido82AUS Opel didn't do the proportions... The VT was laid-out by Holden. As summarised in the vid, it's a totally different car
A workmate of mine had a tiger mica vt ss s2, got rid of it when the box died for $2000.... Told him he'd regret it in 2014 and he does now.
