Retro Rides Presents VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE
Retro Rides introduces the Karmann Cabriolet, a creation by Dr. Ferdinand Porsche. The Beetle, launched in 1939, shattered sales records, surpassing 20 million units sold. While retaining its distinctive appearance, the Beetle underwent continuous enhancement, featuring larger, more potent engines and the adoption of fully synchromesh gearboxes to enhance performance and drivability.

Had one with the 5 Litre new back in 1999. Absolutely loved it. 💪🏻
Love the VT, my Dad had one
So is this car basically a Australian Torino?
I have to say the Beetle is a car that doesn't appeal to me. It comes across as a hairdressers car. But in saying I do look for the obligatory beetle when seeing an old street view picture as they sure were a popular car back in the day. A lot of people would not know that they were indeed made here in Australia. WHen people think of Aussie made cars they think Holden, Ford, Chrysler etc. I have to ask Glenn, are you still with Unique Cars or have you moved onto this channel? I've been hoping you would do an update on the original commodores that you recently purchased. Also I tried to comment on the VT video but comments were disabled.
i had around 20 beetles since early 60´s, it wasn´t powerfull but a joy to enter in it for the first time, it might not have a radio but it came with a speaker on the left of the steering wheel this before the modle showed with a dash , the metal one only
this convertible was a karmann, it came in the back originally and a well thought convertible

What a beautiful little car!
I’m in New Zealand and about 27 years ago I looked at an ok conditioned XA coupe that was parked on the side of the road out in the country forsale for 6k . Around the same time my father moved to a farm out country and decided our family car was no good on the land . So he traded our 73 vj charger in for a BJ 40 Land Cruiser and the dealer gave him 3k for the charger . If only I knew what was going to happen in the future . In the past I’ve sold a 34 Chevy pickup and a 64 Fairlane and regretted both . Now I have a half built 60 pontiac and a chev Silverado pickup and I think I’m best to keep both now before I have anymore regrets .
My friend bought a xc hard top for $4000 in 1990 , 4 speed nice car , probably worth $90 000 now
And good luck finding 1 that isn't a Cobra.
Had one, put up for sale around 1982 for $1600 at trading post, had offers below than sold it for $1400.
They where the best days, cost now days added a lot more zeros 🍻🇦🇺❄️🌨🏔🦘👍👌
@@MetalMania3DTV-TAS-AUS In My Days back in the late 70's and perhaps Early 80's when the Cops had the XC 351GT 2 Doors (Autos) and they would sell at Pickles Auction for around $3800 to $4200 . So many people thought the Cops had expired the cars life....wouldnt you like one now ?
@@tilkanash You are Correct, XC became lot more sought after as people loved the front end, bonnet. XA was discarded as ugly and old fashion. I would still go for XA
@tilkanash absolutely and yes please, my address is 😂😂😂👊🍻🇦🇺🦘🦘
Right on.
Beautiful car. Wish I'd picked one up before prices went mental.
