I am my son's travel ball coach. Admittedly, I do not know a lot about pitching, and I have been going by his trainer mostly. In 13u the curveball was his out pitch - it was a big breaking slow curve. We worked for 14u to throw it harder with less break. Also (from Dan Blewett's advice online) he between the years threw about 6,000 changeups. That became his out pitch in 14u by a large margin. Vulcan grip, about 4 inch arm movement, 8 inch vertical.
Ive always been curious, should changeups have that pronation necessarily? Well that's not easy for me and legends like johan santana and pedro martinez kinda say they throw their changeup just like their fastball with just change in grip
Not all pitchers need to pronate their changeups. You can learn more about pronation/supination bias in this video: ua-cam.com/video/CYFdqhnBM-k/v-deo.html
Hmmm... gonna try thinking more extension when I throw the change. I know right now that my change feels good when I'm almost throwing my hand at the catcher.
What about Giolito's changeup that has more vertical than horizontal run? He doesn't think about pronation with that one. John Means another example you mentioned. Do they manipulate grip pressure (the thumb maybe)?

NOW THIS IS WHAT I LIKE TO SEE
Hearing old school and a picture of pedro pitching made me feel old.

Plus, I'm worried getting to the inside might vary my changeup release from my fastball one. So batters can see the difference
