    I am glad I found you! I watched your interview on the Physicians Committee channel. I love your videos and how down to earth you both are. Very inspiring! I am also WFPB No oil or sugar. I have already lost 21lbs in the last few months. I loved how you say "trust the process." That is the mantra that keeps me eating optimally every day too.

    You guys are cute! Great video with helpful tips! I lost 75 lbs on my plant based diet weight loss journey too! I also did the eating to excess thing and not knowing when to stop. Eating wfpb has healed that for me too!! I love that I can eat anything wfpb and feel satiated and satisfied!!!! Great channel!

      I make lunch my big meal and I have an afternoon snack. Then when I am home from work my hunger level is manageable. I eat dinner: cup of vegetable soup, side salad only greens and low calorie veggies with squeeze of lemon, 1/2 plate non-starchy veggies, 1/4 plate beans, 1/4 minimally processed starch brown rice or potato or yam (usually-sometimes I vary this). Then right after dinner I have a frozen fruit- maybe sliced banana or frozen cherries or frozen strawberries or frozen grapes. I used to eat 1 quart premium ice cream each night so this became my substitute. I close my kitchen after the frozen fruit.🤭👏

    Not that I eat meat (maybe freshwater fish, caught that day by my Dad, a couple of times a year), but I'm learning that eating low-calorie density, whole foods and no oil/high fat foods is MUCH more critical to my weight loss than being 100% vegan. I also had a relapse of highly processed vegan junk food and fooled myself that I was still eating healthfully.
    I tend to use the words "health-promoting food", but I LOVE the word "optimal"!! Thank you; great video!!

    • @PlantFitMeg
      @PlantFitMeg  2 роки тому

      YES! 🙌 Completely agree! Veganism is awesome and I'm vegan; but when it comes to health and weight loss, it's more important to focus on eating as whole food plant-based as possible. I love the sound of the words "health-promoting food" too. So glad you enjoyed the video and could relate! 😊

      You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! 😊 It took some time for me to figure out hunger signals and the feeling of fullness. I found that increasing the amount of green veggies I ate helped and eating large well balance meals helped too. I had to consciously stop before eating or after one plate of food and ask myself if I was really hungry or if I just wanted to eat because it was a specific time of day or the food was tasty. Sometimes waiting a few minutes to see if I was truly hungry also helped.

    • @PlantFitMeg
      @PlantFitMeg  3 роки тому +2

      Starch Solution advocates for 70% starch on your plate and Maximum Weight Loss Program advocates for a 50/50 plate of starch to non-starchy veg. I eat less starch than starch solution. I tend to eat 50/50 plates, but I also include soy products like tofu and tempeh as well as chia & flax daily, and avocado, or nut-based dressings from time to time. Hope that helps. Why no oil?

    • @happycook6737
      @happycook6737 3 роки тому +2

      For me the oil makes the food so tasty I want to eat too much of it. Oil, salt, and added sugar triggers my food addiction to the level I lose control. Like an alcoholic-- I say, "Oh I will just eat one of 'hyperpalatable processed food name here". Then I find myself with an empty container having eaten thousand calories of crap food. My blood sugar spikes, giant insulin release, big dopamine release in my brain, bliss for a few minutes up to one hour until the big crash. I then feel "hangry" and seek more crap foods. A hamster wheel cycle...Yup- all the way up to 300 miserable pounds on a very short person. The very best predictor of future behavior is past behavior so for me NO OIL. If I eat vegan, unprocessed, no oil/no salt/no sugar, limit 3 fruits a day--- I can eat until I'm full, not be hangry, and look like a normal, thin person. My doctor does suggest once people are at goal weight they eat nuts occasionally. I hate nuts so no danger there for me. Anyhow this is the "why" for me.

    • @Prodigious1One
      @Prodigious1One 3 роки тому +1

      @@happycook6737 thanks for explaining. I eat peanuts and nut butters. But I limit nyy calories to 1500 per day. Sweets are my downfall. Too many calories in just one sweet food. Now I prefer fruits for sugar.

      Oil is extremely calorie dense and many plant-based doctors advise against consuming it for optimal health and weight loss. When I consulted with a plant-based doctor, she also advised me to avoid it as much as possible. I have regained my health and lost 80 pounds by focusing on whole plant foods and avoiding oils. Hope that helps! 😊 You can also check out nutritionfacts.org or nutritionstudies.org for more information.

      @@PlantFitMeg you're right about calorie density of oils. I only eat one tablespoon of dressing for a bowl of salad. I also choose low calorie dressings. But I just keep to my calorie limit and I lost 80 pounds in a year. Congratulations on doing the same!
