Dr Barnard I started stocking my shelves and eating this way on Jan 4th at 370lbs today I am 318lbs. Long way to go but I am feeling better every day. AND NO ANIMALS WERE HARMED IN THE REMAKE OF MY LIFE. Thank you so much!!!
Thanks for sharing your progress, it's inspiring. I've been vegan for 3years, but I'm only starting my plantbased journey now. It's great to hear positive stories like yours. All the best, Maeve in Ireland
@@morekindnessnow9231 thanks. I was a junk food vegan with a major overeating disorder and sadly I was a chef in the industry cooking animals. I'm out of that and following Dr Esselstyn's protocol. Stay healthy
lots of love from India. We soak our lentils (dals) overnight. This helps them cook faster and increases our body's ability to absorb proteins from them 🤗
God bless you sir Dr Eseigbe on youtube channel , I will be forever thankful to God for using your herbal medicine to cure my breast cancer which I treated with pills and injection for 15 year
Skinny necked bobbleheads are common among vegans. Lack of musculature unless they go out of their way to load up on crappy vegan "protein" powders and work out like a fiend.
Dr. Barnard is one of the kindest, most amazing people on the planet. And the work of The Physicians Committee helps bring human and animal welfare together in a simple, straightforward way. Brilliant!
Barnard and the physicians committee is a front for animal welfare, he lies and misrepresents studies. A vegan diet is deficient, unhealthy long term and can lead to permanent damage. Just look at that dry atrophied head sitting precariously on that pencil neck of his, and his sunken eye balls. Doesn’t look like his diet is working out for him.
I hope that you’ll find a way to open your mind. Compassion and health begin with what we put on our plates. The Earth cannot withstand our constant assaults and creating a vegan world is an exciting way forward. Our healthcare system would greatly benefit also as chronic diseases lessened. This is the vision which sustains me-I hope one day everyone will see the truth of it.
@@whaleshark19 We should end factory farming. However all agriculture involves killing and is unsustainable. Veganism is extremely deficient, unnatural, unhealthy, and would result human extinction. The answer is in regenerative farming, locally grown nutrient dense ruminants replenish topsoil and ultimately require less killing, less transport and less pesticides and deforestation. The answer is in growing our animals sustainably and ethically, abolishing factory farming and feeding animals their natural diet. We are facultative carnivores, converting humans to an exclusively plant diet is impossible.
@@nomnomgamer9882 *_"extremely deficient, unnatural, unhealthy"_* -> None of this is true, in fact it's the complete opposite. Until you provide actual research, your abhorrent claims are dismissed. After all the burden of proof is on you. We are omnivores, not "facultative carnivores" there is zero evidence of that over the evidence of our omnivorism. *Not a single carnivore on the planet* produces amylase, we produce it in our saliva. Amylase is an enzyme that starts the digestion of carbs, found in our mouth. We're also the only omnivore to have it in our mouth, and in the levels it is. Same for other primates. Humans can't pounce on an animal and rip into it. Even chimps, who have fangs and more strength still use tools when hunting.

I'm living off of steel cut oats, brown rice, spaghetti, Dave's Killer bread, natural peanut butter and fruit spread, beans, lentils, frozen veggies, apples and plant milk. (I also take a daily multivitamin and B12). I managed to save the most money last month I've ever saved in my life. It's not the most exciting way to eat, but it's worth it for the animals and for the money I'm saving during these very difficult times. Stay safe, everyone, and thank you, Dr. B. ♥️♥️♥️
@@sharyn4271 I'm sorry to hear that, hon'. 🙁 You know, if you can find Arnold's organic bread, it's just as good and is a $1 cheaper. I've tried it and now I have two choices.. so see if you can find it where you are. 🙂
JadeMusic The times I've been, there is little to no choice, mostly out of bread. I'm going to Costco next week with my dad, I may get lucky! Thank you. ❤️
@@emh8861 I agree, and I've long thought about that. I know if I run into problems, I'll have to cut way back on the carbs. For now, it's been a sustainable and cheap way to eat during these difficult times. ♥️
Roda Grail it’s possible that this diet is detrimental to those with diabetes. Especially those with severe insulin resistance. Here’s the thing, God made us somehow very different genetically so there’s no one diet fits all. I’m a diabetic who’s struggling with reversing it - I have been following the protocol of listening to the meter. Sometimes the meter results are contrary to Dr Barnard’s recommendation. This the reason for thumbs down 👎🏾
It’s like Mr. Rodgers but for vegans. I love these videos. I’m new to plant based. 23 days without meat. My feet, formerly known as pig hooves, look like feet again. This has been an exciting change that I thought would be miserable.
Amazing....Having watched animal cruelty in the slaughterhouses, I consider turning to vegetables, some fish and fruits as my food..People can find other ways to get protein by not harming those helpless animals...
@@saikesarkar7390 No such thing as active omega 3s. Try again. Keep in mind that I have been vegan nearly 20 years. I am healthier and look younger than any of my peers I grew up with. Anecdotal evidence but I am sticking with it.

SmellyCat And that is why you are smelly, battle to go to the loo, only eat once a day and will be visiting your gastroenterologist within the next two years. Also, why you just HAVE to comment on a programme that believes in kindness to animals!
Lentils are easier to cook. No pre-soaking needed. Red lentils cook faster than brown. Also split peas. Any split legumes don't need soaking. Smoked paprika along with tumeric and cumin spice it up without excess heat. Aldi's also has an excellent organic lentil soup. I would often nuke a white or sweet potato and add to soup. But homemade is easy.
@@serenakoleno9338 yes, no soaking needed for lentils...I DO sort through them to check for pebbles/small rocks and I do that for any dried beans....just RINSE the lentils and they cook in about 20 minutes (the green ones).
@@valerietomsic8454 But if you do soak them, they will come alive and the nutrition will be better. Sometimes I even soak then sprout them just the tiniest bit. They will taste more like bean sprouts when you do that, so you will probably want to use/season them a little differently.
That’s my regular grocery list! Vegan for almost 5 years- before I didn’t eat any of these food on a regular basis. When people started hoarding food, I found that all our favorites were still on the shelves!
Than-q for putting the time and effort into these videos right now. They serve to help people understand the best choices they can make for themselves and their loved ones to enhance health in the simplest way possible, through what they put in their bodies 3 times per day. You are changing lives and leaving this planet a far better place than you found it. You have so very much to be proud of. Stay safe and be well. With gratitude and grace!
With tofu, I've found that if you drain the liquid for about 15 minutes, pat it dry with a paper towel, then slice it up, put in a ziplock bag and put in the freezer for a day, the next day thaw it in the frig, and once thawed coat it in your sauce of choice, then coat it with panko, and if you have a air fryer, cook it at 400 for 15 minutes. The end result is a crispy and more meaty textured tofu, great in stews or stir fries or even on a sandwich.
I love tofu done this way, and so do my kids: 2 packs of extra firm tofu, sliced lengthwise down the middle so you have 4 slices. Place them on a towel. Cut them into cubes. Place a cookie sheet with heavy cans on top and leave for a couple of hours to get the water out. Take off the heavy top and pat dry. Put oven on 300 degrees F. Spread tofu cubes on the cookie sheet. Sprinkle low sodium soy on top of the cubes then place in the oven for at least 30 minutes. Take them out, eat as snack, put in a baggy, use for sandwiches, stir frys or whatever you like. Delicious!
It is Friday night Dr Neil and am watching you. I just realized I have an immersion blender that I never use! Good idea for beans and other stuff. Between you Dr Berg and Markus and Cara ( The Healthy Life ) I got through the first part of the pandemic. Changed my eating habits completely. I was headed that way and u guys all pushed me over to the plant based world. Thanks!
Sprinkle nutritional yeast on the non-gmo popcorn. The flavor transforms the taste of the popcorn from good to super delicious. It also makes it more nutritious.
I love nutritional yeast. I put it on my omelets, with kale, and cheese. When I was a child, and my mom made bread, she would break off a piece of a yeast cake, and it tasted SO good.
I just started this, as I love movie popcorn and miss it. Pop in coconut oil on the stove. I am not vegan or vegetarian so I add ghee and pink Himalayan salt. Healthier option to movie popcorn
For me, grains cause pain. I have underlying chronic Lyme disease. I was able to reduce my pain to pretty much nothing with a grain free diet. I love grains so I wouldn't give it up unless it helped and it helped immensely. I also lost 50 pounds. Size 18 to size 6.

Dr. Neal is a 1000 light years ahead of some other doctors. Everything you say makes sense. I started eating tofu because of your videos and oh the possibilities! Thank you! 😀
I got a big bunch of organic specialty mushrooms at Costco. I whizzed them up to a not super fine powder and created meals with noodles or cous cous or powdered sweet potato on the PCT. I needed food that would hydrate quickly and cook by soaking and adding boiling water. With a variety other things like freeze dried veggies, spices, TVP, nutritional yeast, cashew milk powder I made some really yummy trail food. I ordered the organic cashew milk from Znatural foods. It made a great creamer for coffee and teas. Found its a nice staple to have around.
Thank you Neal for all of this great advice! I have been an ethical vegan for just over nine years and at sixty six feel better now than i was when a lot younger. No health problems, and blood checks i had last November in 2020 all good, plus my weight matches my age and height of what it should be. I limit the amount of processed junk i eat these days and only as treats, because highly processed so called food is not good for us in any way. I love being this active and healthy. How calming to learn from doctor Bernard while slowly changing our food intake. I hope to not only help my diabetes but my hyperthyroidism and also my gut.
These foods he recommends are high carb and high glycemic index (sugary). These are foods diabetics should avoid altogether. They raise blood sugar levels like crazy. If you don't have diabetes you will by the time you're done eating these foods for any length of time. Consumption of carbs have been on the increase and is reflected in the population thru both obesity and increase in type II diabetes.

Scott make sure it is Ceylon cinnamon. The more common Cassia cinnamon contains coumarin, a compound that can hurt your liver or cause cancer if eaten a lot.
Dr Barnard, I notice that Braggs aminos has a very high sodium content. I have been using Coconut Aminos by a company called Coconut Secret. It contains 90mg sodium per tsp. The only ingredients are organic coconut sap and sea salt. It works exactly like soy sauce. It is especially good for people with hypertension who are concerned about their salt intake.
@@BeckRD1 Coconut Aminos has zero fat. It's from the sap of the coconut not the meat. Miso is available in the refrigerator section of a health food, Japanese or grocery store like Whole Foods. I use Miso Master Organic white miso (the white has less sodium than other varieties). It's a paste that you mix with a little water. It takes a little effort to get it diluted, but it's not hard.
I bought some of that too...I am new to some of these healthier choices...I have been know to be the soy sauce queen..it brings good flavor to food....not sure what to do with the coconut amino s yet I suppose just use as I do the salty stuff
plant based or plant only? Our bodies are much different than plants and as such we do not assimilate plant matter very well. In fact many of the nutrients in plants pass thru us without assimilation. It's not what's in food that counts, it's what we can assimilate and take up into our bodies.

I sometimes eat my oats raw loaded with fruit, ground flax seed, walnuts and plant milk. Learned that from the Esselstyn's. It is especially good in the summer when i don't want to eat something hot.
I soak regular organic oats in a little coconut or soy milk and lots of yogurt overnight, add fruits in the morning (or even at night if I’m eating on the go) and it’s so, so delicious! Add a little maple syrup if it’s not sweet enough. I think soy and oats makes for a complete protein as well.

How about sprouting seeds? The seeds or beans keep for ages. When you want some I think a sprouting jar is the best way. Soak them overnight then rinse and drain. Repeat for a few days and then you have sprouts for salad or stir fries. Use mung beans or aduki beans and a variety of seeds for sprouting.
Hi - I was curious where you buy your seeds from. I'd like to start sprouting, but it's kind of overwhelming, all the info out there. However I need to prepare for tough times ahead. Thanks for any information you can share!
@@bethheinecamp1061 Hi Just now I mainly buy from Amazon traders. The garden centres have been closed. I started ogg with sprouting broccoli seeds as its supposed to be very good for you. I went on to mung beans, fenugreek and mustard. Look for a seller who offers a big bag as it is cheaper that way. The broccoli seeds take about five days, then you can use them in salads. The sprouting jars I use are Vogel. They have green plastic tops that drain easily. Where I got the sprouting idea was from Fabulous Fifies, a n exercise you tuber from Australia.. Her name is Shellea Fowler. Good luck, don't do too many all at once unless you can share them, but they do freeze for putting into smoothies.
I am a huge fan of sprouting seeds - excellent nutrient dense emergency food! I purchased directly from Todd's Seeds (they sell on Amazon but direct is cheaper).
Beth Heinecamp You can sprout and grow any whole seed or beans, such as lentils, mung beans, fennel seed, poppy...it’s easy to do, but only sprout what you will eat within a day or two. Do not keep them for more or you will grow mold and bacteria 🦠 because of the wet environment.
Thank you for mentioning that. I could smack my head because we used to eat sprouted beans all the time and they're so good for you! I will remember this. Wonderful way to get some fresh veggies when all you've got is dried beans.
I’ve found small pebbles and mud a few times in beans so I think cleaning them first is worth the time. Hemp hearts in oatmeal is great too and adds protein.
Your body must convert ALA to EPA and DHA before it can use it. This conversion isn't very efficient with flaxseeds as a source of omega-3 fats. Fish, seafood, which contains EPA and DHA is the best. The supplements are useless. Unless you're afraid of dead fishes, of course. ;)
Carsch A Depends on the person. Some people convert just fine, others don’t. I heard somewhere that the level at which our bodies efficiently convert is based on how much direct EPA/DHA is present in our diets. In other words, it’s likely our bodies eventually adapt accordingly. But if it’s still a concern, we can also get their Omegas via algae. It’s really not that hard. I do agree that fish in moderation can be a very healthy addition to ones diet, but I am not a fan of supporting the commercial fishing industry plus I’m also concerned about all the toxins found in fish. Nordic Naturals is the go-to brand for me but now I just get their algae based omegas. I am in support of truly wild-caught (many labels are false or misleading) including people catching their own which is what my 90 year old grandpa still does :)
I make blacken tofu. 1st, I slice extra firm tofu and cut two slices the long way. About 1/2" thick. Next I Get a pan hot. Then on a plate I mix cumin, turmeric, paprika and some black salt (this give a egg taste). Next coat both sides of the tofu with the spice mix. Now drop the spiced tofu into the hot pan. It might smoke and the fumes can be strong at first. So back away a little. I add about two tablespoons of water. This makes the tofu absorb the spices. After the water evaporates flip the tofu and add a little more water. Once the water evaporates let the spices caramelize them remove. I like to eat mine on whole grain wheat bread. Like an egg sandwich I ate before becoming vegan. 8 years August 20th. 13 years no animal flesh. 6 years before I became vegan, i was a vegetarian. Just eggs. A good friend I met online helped me and my wife become vegan. And two of the first doctors I started learning from was, Dr Greger and Dr Dr Barnard. Thank you Doc. You are Awesomeness. To anyone seeing my post and feels the need to criticize me, don't waste your time. We all need to be civil. So be encouraging and positive. Thank you.
Thanks, Dr. Barnard. That was perfect timing - literally! I love hummus & bought cans of chickpeas, some tahini, garlic... to make my own. One of my "to do" list items is "find a hummus recipe". I watched this video & found it. LOL. ☺️ Thanks for the other tips too. I'm currently doing the 21-day kickstart (and continuing on this path) to see if I can get newly-diagnosed hyperthyroidism under control. I asked the endocrinologist if I could safely have three months to pursue this path, before potentially going on medication. He said 'yes'. And so, my journey begins....
Pintos grow best in high desert sandy loam with lots of small sandy clumps that evade the sorting progress. It's a really good idea to sort beans before rinsing them. Also, lentils grow in grain country, so if you're gluten sensitive, sort your lentils for wheat and barley grains before rinsing. Easy peasy.
I remember my mama’s favorite remark... “That girl is so dumb she couldn’t even look beans”. I, like you, have found rocks and dirt clods in my beans. Trust me, I wash my beans before they ever hit the pot. Same way with rice... I guess I’m just old timey.
I love it that he calls out the “wrong food”. Whole food is what our body craves. I am not vegan nor vegetarian, but where we agree is, yes.... we need plant rich Whole Foods.
The problem is the nutrients in food plants are difficult for your body to assimilate since they are bound to plant matter. Plant matter is much different than our flesh. Since we are animals, animal foods are taken up into our bodies easy and efficiently. The Inuit thrived on only animal foods for millennia.
@@johnc.8298 yes, this is true. We do eat a higher protein natural food dietary pattern. More keto/paleo. I love my vegetables but am picky about what we eat. Steak and asparagus, chicken thighs and grilled brussle sprouts. As much as I love proteins, I could not eat just meat. Hubs is carnivore, I need some vegetables, nuts and seeds.
@@lindamcneil711 I have to avoid certain nuts and certain vegets. I have had two kidney stones due to high oxalates in some foods. Spinach, almonds, chia seeds, and sweet potatoes are a definite no no (unfortunately so is dark chocolate :/ ). Rhubarb is the worst but as good as it is, I don't crave rhubarb squares and pie. These plants have fought back against me eating them so I've surrendered. Apple crumble and pie is a different story. :)
Another cooking tip for creamy oatmeal. Once it starts to boil, turn down heat to lowest possible setting and cook it very slowly. Also, use water not milk
I think it was great that you did a video like this. At the same time, I noticed a few things that surprised me. When you listed Quaker Oats, you didn't suggest the organic ones. Also, for cold cereal, Corn Flakes does not use non gmo corn. Silk Almond milk has cane sugar and lots of other stuff in it that's not really healthy. I was also surprised you suggest rice and even brown rice which has a higher content of arsenic than white rice. Also, when you spoke about tofu I would have thought you'd suggest organic tofu. Along the same lines, many veggie burgers in the frozen section use soy protein isolate and have gmo ingredients and that surprised me as well that you didn't mention that. Lastly, I am under the impression from Dr. Fuhrman that fortified nutritional yeast is very unhealthy. So, I'm sorry to call you out on all of this but so many of us are working on doing the best we can for our health and I think it would be helpful for people to know what to stay away from based on the issues I mentioned above.
I thank God this popped up. I haven't seen any preppers or others on here who have been this sensible. Either they buy crap at the $ store or elsewhere, suggest buying the meals from prepper companies that last forever and cost a lot, or they shame you for not being a cook from Little House on the Prairie. This is easy, inexpensive and HEALTHY!! Thank you! I just subscribed. 👍🏽💕
In Mexico the first step is to rince, then soak overnight. Rinse again before cooking them. I used to put them in a pressure cooker and they came out fabulous! If you want a nice creamy soup, take out a cup or so, puree, and that makes the soup creamy. Add a little bacon, tomatoes and onion.
Beans are so versatile, stock up on all kinds! You can eat them hot with rice, curry, etc.. , in soup, cold in salad, make bean dips, I've used white beans to make oil free pesto sauce, so many options. Thank you for the great tips! And for folks who don't care for tofu, try smoked tofu. It's a game changer 😁.
They can also make Burmese tofu...which is basically "polenta" made out of chickpea flour, water, + some turmeric; cooked till thickened and poured into a lightly greased pan. Refrigerate. When solidified, cut and brown in a skillet. Cover with a sauce of your preferred seasonings & veggies.
You have to be careful. This can actually be dangerous. Especially if you are using kidney beans or red beans. They need to reach a high enough temperature or they can make you very very sick. Make sure if you're using your crockpot to soak first or better yet use a pressure cooker for faster and problem free results
Thank you!!! I will never forget my sister who put emergency food in our pantry. All she bought was 50 cans of condensed milk and 75 cans of tuna packed in oil. Those are two items no one in our family would eat, including her. I don’t know why she thought those were great to stock up on. 😂 All of the items you listed are items we would definitely eat. I’m sending your video to her! 🙌🙌🙌 😃

I always cook oatmeal with milk. Sheltering at home, I’m now using dried milk - which is FINE (even in coffee!)- easy and keeps forever. I don’t bother soaking beans or chickpeas. Just put them in a large pot of water with a chunk of onion & bay leaf. Cook til done - taste occasionally after an hour til the texture is to your liking. Freeze in jars. Put in soups, etc.

Dr. Barnard is one of the kindest, most amazing people on the planet. And the work of The Physicians Committee helps bring human and animal welfare together in a simple, straightforward way. Brilliant!
Reid strasma
Well said
Barnard and the physicians committee is a front for animal welfare, he lies and misrepresents studies.
@@nomnomgamer9882 *_"extremely deficient, unnatural, unhealthy"_*
-> None of this is true, in fact it's the complete opposite.

Delicious!

Thank you for being such a kind doctor who really cares about our health! I wish more doctors are like you. It is really fun being a vegan. I just transferred from being a vegetarian to almost a vegan. Still can't give up raw honey.
That’s what I stocked up on!
(I was laughing the first time I went shopping after the apocalypse, came home and said, people hoarded all the wrong stuff! All the healthy, immune supporting food was still there!)
I’ve just been doing my normal shopping.
Good tips with rice cooking too.
Brags flavors all my stir fries.
My fav way to make tofu is fried with brags and nutritional yeast, my kids fav too
Cooking beans to freeze is my fav way to batch cook ( I love making instant pot chili)
I didn’t realize all my kitchen secrets were so popular!
Thanks Dr Barnard for spreading the good word!
May we all stay healthy and enjoy our time to be human BEings, in a world of human DOings.
Erin Halk i am 100% with you
How about sprouting seeds?
Oats have protein. All fruit and veg have protein. Adding phytonutrient variety is important and can be impactful in vitamin absorption.
This was great. One tip. If you’re going to buy rice for long term storage, buy white rice. Brown rice can go rancid. Same for whole wheat flour.
I would add flax and chai seed to this list. You can buy both in bulk at Costco or most bulk stores.
Carsch A I also eat seaweed but didn’t mention it as many people don’t like the taste.
Chia*
Flax is also great for healthy breasts and glowing skin and hair. Just be sure its ground and organic
Thank you.
Congratulations!!!
These are all always my staples! Not just during a pandemic 😃 🌱❤️❤️
Thanks Dr. BERNARD for sharing this video.
Watching from the Philippines.
Went Vegan beginning of 2020 and lost 10lbs. Thanks Dr B and Dr McDougall for your healthy lifestyle lectures.
Thank you Dr. Barnard, reinforced what I've already done. Thank you for all you and your team do. Be safe and well.
Thanks, Dr.
There is a great hummus recipe on the PCRM website. I add roasted red peppers.
@@melissacostello3000
Thanks for the info. The addition of roasted red peppers sounds good. ☺️
Melissa Costello yes I always add roasted peppers.
Try to avoid medication as it can have side effects that you may need to treat, and then you can become stuck in a loop.
You will find all of these things in my freezer, pantry and fridge. Been stocking them for years. Great list!
I make hummus often, but I usually put a lot of tahini 😋
Always soak my beans overnight first and then I boil them with some bay leaves...oh soo good
I have always poured out my beans "pinto" on a tray and sorted. And I have found lots of rocks over the years.
I'm going to try a tray next time I sort. I'll bet it's faster and more efficient than pouring them into the palm of my hand.
Thanks for the tip!
As a, child, our job, was to, sort out the rocks, from the beans. Mom, didn't want any of us, eating rocks, with our beans, for, dinner.
They add rock to charge more by weight. Criminal!
This has to be one of the best videos I have ever watched on UA-cam. Thank you, Doctor.
Julie, thank you for this post. So true.
Yes he supports Monsanto very funny indeed and all these people thanking him and praising him...smh 🙄
Thank you, Dr. Barnard. Stay well. We need you.
I always put dry beans straight into my crock pot. No soaking. Set it on low in the morning and by dinner I have perfect beans.
Eubones I do the same, the crockpot is the way to go! I taught my son to make them, too, so he has a good staple food when he’s on his own.
You have to be careful. This can actually be dangerous. Especially if you are using kidney beans or red beans. They need to reach a high enough temperature or they can make you very very sick. Make sure if you're using your crockpot to soak first or better yet use a pressure cooker for faster and problem free results
@Truth Seeker you've been lucky. You should look it up, it's a well documented medical condition
🙌🙌🙌 😃
Remember,,, condensed milk is not the same as evaporated milk.
Rinse the oil off the tuna.
Somehow I ended up with multiple cans of spinach,
which I don't like at all ! Lol
They say to stock up on things
you actually eat , and I suppose
I should keep that in mind.
@@janettemasiello5560
😂That’s funny. Yes I guess my sister must have thought anything is better than nothing. I don’t like canned spinach either. 😊🦋

Awesome tips especially the tips about bulk cooking, exploring other beans to cook and blending the beans for a creamy texture. Thanks Dr. Barnard ⭐
Just make sure to get non-gmo tofu, oats, and veggies
You make sure and do that.
We like the sprouted tofu, too 👍🏼
I agree! Sprouting seeds is great nutrition when produce isn’t available and ready quickly! That’s always been in my emergency food supply.
NO DOUBT. When I found out how much glyphosate is on big-brand rolled oats, I started buying 25-lb bags of organic oats. Not rolled but whole.
gmo is fine
Love the immersion blender sound effect! Spot on, Dr B!
youre very beautiful

Brocolli - _bitter_ ? It's _not_ bitter!!! Good quality brocolli lightly steamed with salt and pepper and _butter_ ! _Real_ butter!!! YUM!
Man, you're great. Learned so much in little time. And, moreover, I feel like cooking tonight!!
Im from india and we have been in lockdown for a week. I haven't gone to grocery stores for over a week. We have rice dal pickles beans finger millets and the vegetables grown in backyard. 😄 i approve what this doctor said but we like the food with more spice and seasonings.
Guilty of hoarding all sorts of dried chiles and spices in normal times. Got to have the spice!
🤔 The only "crunchy", "crispy" oatmeal I know of is in an oatmeal cookie.
I put it in soup after its cooked, it doesn't have to be sweet.
MsFit Vegan funny!😂
His first several are all laden with glyphosate (Round up). Oats and Rice especially. They are dried with Round up in order to harvest. But soy too. Cannot believe these recommendations. Roundup causes so many horrible health problems.
@@micheleh5269 Organic oats?
@@evetsnitram8866 they are not supposed to use glycosate on organic foods.
Thank you Dr. Barnard for all of these quick ideas!
Don't know why it works but adding a tsp of baking soda helps beans, peas etc to soften.
I was taught not to add salt to your beans till nearly fully cooked - otherwise they will be tough.
That's true, don't add salt to cooking beans. Add after they are fully cooked.
Only add salt when soaking over night. Drain and rinse the next day and add fresh water only then cook.
Wow! Never heard how to cook brown rice. Mind blown. My grocery store has a two can chickpea limit right now. Crying. I've been vegan for about 5 months. So far so good
I love this guy. He is a great communicator.
