I'v watched a couple of these videos and my love of leather work is slowly returning. I'm going to get me one of kits and get cracking on some long awaited projects. Thank you Chuck... you're the best!!! You do a great job explaining and instructing where a newbie like me can give it another go.
Chuck is right! I made a cool mousepad for my first project and I'd never done it before. Sewing also really is as easy as it looks! I wish this kit was around when I'd started, you really do use almost everything on every project!
Thanks for another great video! If I know anyone who is looking to start in leather craft, I will point them to this video. BTW, that wine colored Santa Rosa is gorgeous!
This is a great video. Love the look of this leather and yes, I will be ordering some real soon to make this project. Really like the added part number and description block in the video; sadly though, I clicked on the Leathercrafters cement (because I need some) and it says it's out of stock. I'll check with some local stores that sell Weaver Products. Never the less, Chuck, you are a fantastic instructor! I haven't seen one of your videos that doesn't impress me.
Love all the detailed explanations; never too much when you're learning. So, how do I get a pattern or template. Is it legal to take a screenshot and print it out on card stock?
You give clear instructions and to the point ones and you need some of those finger covers the gloves less ones to cover your fingers and no one is immune to getting cut ouch as it goes for even in cooking measure twice cut once
I ordered this kit, but when I used my groover the first time it blocked up and wouldn't cut. I had to tediously clean-out that little hole. Q.) should I have wet my leather before I used the groover on it???
No, it is supposed to cut dry leather. What kind of leather did you try to cut? If mine doesn't cut it is usually because it is dull, then I strop it on leather with 15,000 grit diamond polishing compound.
@@spasticgeek tried that, it's not the guided arm thats the problem it's the chisel itself no matter how I try I just cant get the darn thing to cut a consistant grove with clockwise pressure.
Hi Noah, The ones used in the video are the 5 mm diamond chisels. We'll link them here: www.weaverleathersupply.com/catalog/item-detail/67-7252/diamond-stitching-chisel-set/pr_55115
When I put on ma leather, and rock to sum Metallica, Delta Parole, Foo Fighters or the Smashing Pumpkins I feel like I can do anything in the whole wide world.
The pattern to download does not match the pattern in the video. The pattern in the video has such small type that it is difficult to read. A bolder font on the pattern would make it much easier to read on screen. I like the project, but now I have to find a magnifying class to read the video pattern and then change the download pattern. Why not always use the pattern in the video as the pattern to download?
Hi Taylor, It's the same pattern, it's just two different options. The Pattern 2 is the same pattern used in the video: www.weaverleathersupply.com/docs/default-source/beginner's-kit/beginners-kit-printable-pattern-2.pdf If you want to make this larger for a laptop or something you can use the first (non tapered) pattern and adjust the size to fit your needs.
Chuck is great at explaining things very easily.. I’m looking forward to trying his tips out soon 😊

I think anyone buying the kit will have an absolute blast. And like you say, that's a taster of most of the things we do day-in day-out. Excellent.
Great to see ya, Chuck!
Your enthusiasm for teaching and leather work is contagious!!!
Thank you, Mark!

Another fantastic video. Thank you Chuck and Weaver. Even us folks that have been at this for a bit can always learn and improve.
Glad you enjoyed it
I love this guy! His enthusiasm is great 😊
I love the tip on marking the curve starting point.
Hello from Scotland, Chuck...always love to watch you work...only been doing leather craft since last Nov but I sure love it!
Thank you so much, so glad you're loving leathercrafting! Cheers!
Thanks Chuck, entertaining, concise and informative as always!
Thank you, Bob!
Chuck is awesome!

I need a stitching chisel set like that I’ve got a hodgepodge of different junk
Nice starter project and very useful for all types of applications, keep it up Chuck
Thank you, Robert!
I just made one similar for cigars
Would you be willing to share some pics of your Cigar Case? I would like to try to make one as a gift for a Buddy of mine.

New blade every time is correct! I get mine from harbor freight
Me too. They’re so affordable that you don’t mind using a fresh blade every time.
Nice little project!
If you want to hide hand injuries, most people wear nitrile gloves.

I just wish weaver sold the Groover for lefties, it's so awkward trying to use my groover in my right hand.
Can’t you just take the guide arm out and put it in the other side though? 🤔

Your pattern links not working
Chuck what is the name of the stitch chisels that you use?
