Not only rebuilding the legendary Jaguar XJ13 but also other exclusive classic Jaguar E Type sports cars such as the low drag or FHC.
Most interesting is the quad cam 12 cylinder engine.
Mr. Swales who is around these projects year in and year out sounds excited as a school boy showing off his creations.
Seriously a stunning model the XJ13 is.
this car (the body at least) was way ahead of its time due to its curves all around the body.
just looking at at from different angles gives me inspiration.
such a nice looking classic car.

totally agree with you. It is impressing when you see the car in real, but the workshop with the other details on their cars is even more impressing.
"It's quite a pretty car" he says. Typical British understatement. It's stunningly beautiful. Straddles any decade you care to mention. Imagine seeing one as you walk along a road. Your jaw would drop. I know mine would. The Spitfire of the car world.

A shame the XJ13 never raced. They made a 3.0 l restriction and the dream was over.

Brilliant video, interview, and camera work with odd distracting music in the background. I would simply delete this one and reedit as I'm sure Mr. Swales doesn't give this type of interview to anyone- you must have a good reporte with him.

Mr. Neville Swales is one of the most gentle and polite persons I have ever met. A real pleasure talking to him and enjoying his company. A real gentleman. Outstanding cars with high end technology.
@@JaguarEType The next time you have to record a video in a noisy workshop: get the camera a lot closer to the person you're interviewing. The best solution would be to use an external microphone (lapel mic that you clip to the interviewee, or a handheld). If that's not available, getting the camera closer will help.

@@JaguarEType i do. i was talking to a guy two or three years ago that had one built in orange, he shipped it to the US but due to their laws it wasn't allowed in. they were going to crush it, he somehow managed to get it shipped to i believe was Finland, and now resides in a museum there. nice guy, gave me lots of interesting information, who to use and who not to use for a project like this. i know it had a jag V12 engine and a Getrag gearbox. still have his emails somewhere.

Hi, I was aware of the machine sound in the background which is even more annoying than the music. Sadly I could not separate the machine noise so I found it more pleasant to have the music.
I keep improving.

John, you can turn the music off.
They should improve it by making the body smooth, sans visible rivets.
I am loving it as is.

It re-creates the car as it first saw the light of day in 1966 - complete with rivets!
The protruding rivets are one of the things I like most,reminds me of a WW2 fighterplane construction like the legendary Spitfire.
@@mjh5437 I also like them ' but as a car painter ' I suspect that over time the bases of those rivets will be where the paint will crack.
The sound quality. I can't listen. Such a shame
I know, in some parts, but not all the time is a machine noise which I could not eliminate. Sorry as it was a spontaneous video we did not have our equipment with us.

The real XJ-13 is a 13 out of ten…this this is a 3 out of ten.. total hack job. They changed every line and not for the better.

Agree with you, in a certain section was a machine running in the background. Not sure if I ever get a chance to do it one more time.

@@JaguarETypedont feel bad at all ' anyone who is an enthusiast of this beautiful model of Jag is a top shelf chap in my opinion .Are you aware of the Xj 13 replicas made in Timaru ' here in New Zealand by the Tempero's ? I dont know if they still do them ' but they've been doing amazing work recreating exotic sports car's for years .
