I've been through his shop in Austin. It's like a hospital. They hand fabricate everything. Not just Jaguars. They had an Aston Martin that was in bare metal at the time and it was flawless. Upper echelon of restoration shops!

I wish they had a bit more "shizzle" in their camera work and editing ala Top Gear, but I do like the show. They don't have anywhere near the TG budget. TG/BBC tried to hire him, but he turned down the gig. I had never heard of seen a XKSS. Very sweet. JLR was going to make a EV 60s era E-type for $300K and cancelled the program, I guess due to lack of interest and a high price point.

I love the tribute given to the absolute King of Cool. I was 8 years old when I watched the Great Escape... Steve's motorcycle scenes stole my imagination. For the next six years I worked doing anything I could to earn money, saved it all, and at 14 walked into a dealership and paid cash for a new bike. I raised some serious hell on that bike... great memories.
At 18, I had an accident while racing, woke up in a hospital room, and recall my mom breaking down in my dad's arms. I remember thinking that wasn't a good sign. Multiple surgeries and 48 years later I still ride an Electra Glide Ultra Classic with my wife as the trusty copilot. We have logged many miles across the US and Canada and owe a good piece of our adventures to the inspiration gifted many years ago by Mr. McQueen.

When I was young, a friend of my father had a 1954 D-type, which I worshipped, polished, and occasionally got to ride in. There's one feature of this car which is necessarily different from the prototype, since the motor is a lot taller and not tilted as much; the power bulge in the hood is larger and centred. The real thing had the bulge towards the left side. (Passenger on the original car, because they were RHD.) I'll bet they had trouble keeping the steering column and the exhaust from interfering with each other when building this one.

My father had a black 1936 SS 1.5 saloon and when I found a picture of him in it I vowed to get myself a Jaguar. In 1997 I finally bought a pre-owned Jaguar Racing Green straight six 3.6 manual XJS coupe which I just loved to drive. Unfortunately it was rusting quite badly in the usual places so I sold it to a guy who did it up to race. It didn’t take me long to replace it with a Jet Black 1990 XJS V12 5.3 convertible which I still own today, 27 years later. It has given me so much joy and is as still a great drive today and stunning to look at, when I find the time to fettle and clean it.

This is a absolutely stunning motorcar . I’ve always had a deep deep love for this jaguar . Amazing and with the extra power it must be a absolute lightning bolt . The original car was fast this must be capable of close to 190 mph .
I’d be curious to see one of the jaguar factory continuation cars aside this .
I’ve only seen photos and videos but to me this almost seems a little more beautiful. I am curious if this is perhaps a massive improvement from the original with brakes that actually work without needing to rev the engine first.

In later years Jaguar became a bit lazy touring vehicles with the XJS as an absolute zero point but Mercedes did the same thing when the era of classic motor racing was finished as their 230 SL was no sports car any more but a grand tourer. And think of Pegaso, Cunningham, Talbot Lago, Panhard DB, Gordini, Abarth, Maserati, Ferrari, Lancia, Alpine, Matra and many more who made the pure sports/racing vehicles of the period, a time lost forever now in electric boredom

A fellow McQueen fan like myself. Love his watch he has on (Tag Heuer Monaco). And such an amazing car he had created! Steve would love it. 👏👏

If you turn on subtitles on 26:10 at the moment when Jay throttles the car the subtitle says MUSIC, thats an ideal translation of the moment.

I never realized that this car had a wheelbase just a little smaller than my MGB. Its overall length is 4 inches longer than my MGB though. A truly beautiful machine, its the Jag I've always wanted.

The original design was brilliant for its time, no doubt. The simple fact that the car is as aerodynamic at those extreme speeds bespeaks genius.

Oh boy, what a car, it’s challenging the original Muira for my top spot after a 40 odd year reign!

19:39 Given Jay's struggle just to get into the car, it would be amusing to see how he managed to get back out. I'm guessing he either had to grab on to one of the Stertil-Koni lifts or have the crew turn the car upside down and shake him out. Haaaa! 😅🤣😂

Brilliant as always. Yet there is nothing better than the 'first time'. It was one of my favorites too. We restored Triumphs back in the 1980's. The best TR-4 had a GT-6 Plus motor, exhaust, and suspension. That was a great motor too. A hard to find Triumph would be a GT-6.

Forty two years after Steve McQueen's death, he's still influencing ,still admired and still being talked about .
He died from mesothelioma ,a cancer that starts in the lining of the internal organs .Always associated with asbestos exposure . This cancer is almost always fatal .
    Terence Steve McQueen
    March 24, 1930 - November 7, 1980 .
