You missed one important piece: Violin Concerto in G Minor, Alma Deutscher (2017) which is arguably the most I N T E R E S T I N G violin concerto by far.
I really want Brett and Eddy to make a video about modern "classical" music. Concertos and symphonies composed within like the last 20 years. They could explore what it means for music to be considered "Classical" and highlight some of the more renowned composers of our own lifetimes. Nobody seems to do that. Everyone always focuses on works by long dead composers, and it can feel dismissive and condescending of our current generation at times. As if we are no longer capable of composing music worth playing.
Well I'd wager that's because modern classical music pales in comparison to stuff that's far older. Like honestly when I go to the symphony and they have some modern stuff before they play Tchaikovsky or Beethoven or whomever the crowds have really come to see, it just doesn't really compare, it's almost to the point that I don't mind being late if it means I can skip the modern piece. Some modern stuff is good, but most of it is overwhelmingly unpleasant, for whatever reason they've decided to go the route of "atonal" music and what not despite us having centuries of works that don't even approach such a thing because by it's very nature it's unpleasant.

Well, Mendelssohn did compose a concerto in D minor... Maybe Eddy secretly wanted to play it, but was forced to play the E minor one instead. He was trying to ask for help through the captions ! 😅
Alban Berg's method is dodecaphony, avoiding the rules of conventional harmony. The notes relate only to each other, not confined to any key. If you want to get the hang of it, start listening to partly tonal composers such as Bartok and Stravinsky, then move on to Shoenberg and Berg. To make the process less painful, listen to the same piece over and over again until your ear becomes accustomed. In no time you will no longer be an "uncultured swine". Enjoy.
my friend constantly says “ling ling practice 40 hours a day” and always talks ab u guys and now i’m subscribed to u guys with post notifications on and part of ur subreddit smh
@Elektra The Ant Oh, he thought.....he thought that upending centuries of skill and innovation in favor of tonal socialism and change for the sake of it was a good idea. I think his ideas were wrong-headed, but he is an interesting (if somewhat funny) study of the ideas of the time.
GreatNorthernDad What an exceedingly ignorant comment. The Second Viennese School, including Webern, did not want to upend any tradition for the sake of it. You are simply regurgitating century-old propaganda about the decadent boogie-man Atonalism. Read Schoenberg’s own words. He was a conservative (with a messiah complex) who revered the Austro-German musical heritage. He called himself a Romantic. Berg was much the same. Listen to the heart-on-sleeve emotionalism and romanticism of the Violin Concerto. The music is not far removed from the late style of Mahler.
Watching this in 2020. Doesn't seem from the comments that anyone has commented on the actual playing going on here. I know they're only playing a few bars of each, but even that requires such a high level. Good job.(Love the bloopers, too.)
I think I like brett’s Tchaikovsky and eddy’s sibelus rather than the other way around. I feel that eddy’s sound colour is kinda blue-y and brett’s is more like a brown. So when Brett plays those nice low notes in Tchaikovsky, it’s like a rich chocolateykind of feeling while eddy’s sibelus is more of a light blue, which I like.
I agree, Brett's Tchaikovsky is just SO WARM. Like warming your frozen hands near the fireplace on a cold night. Or the warm orange-u hues of a summer sunset. I've listened to different recordings of this violin concerto, but nothing's as warm as Brett's. It's almost like a love song. It may not be the best (to all you classical music fans), but i think it's really special.
To help all of those people that want to add these songs to their playlists, that Mendelssohn violin concerto was actually in E minor, not D minor. Make sure other people see this please!
Well, the Bloopers answered my question about why they both look like they're going to start laughing most of the time while they're playing; (well, except for at 2:24 when Brett's shoulder rest hits the floor........that one's obvious, lol)
Brett doesn’t look real when he plays. He looks extraordinary, do you guys get what I mean? Like the way he moves, the speed of his fingers, the accuracy of the notes... it’s incredible.

2:57 the super amazing transition into the next song puts a smile on my face. Editor, bless you
@@tudorftbl thanks
It's epic indeed, also historically accurate, given that Lalo's Symphonie espagnole may have inspired Tchaikovsky to write his Violin Concerto.
2:35 where brett is actually smiling while Eddy is playing
*pickachu shocked face*
(It’s bc he dropped his shoulder rest)
omg I can't believe I got 32 likes tysm
@@ailem2707 yup yup
ailem 2707 lol yes wanted to commend that. RIP shoulder rest.
1:52 i need someone to look at me like how eddy's looking at brett 🥺💕
Ah yes, the Berg Violin Concerto
(or is he tuning? i can't tell)
But in all seriousness, it is one of the greatest violin concertos ever written.
Jack Domanski strong disagree
Berg Violin Concerto >>> Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto
Now disagree some more.
@Elektra The Ant Oh, he thought.....he thought that upending centuries of skill and innovation in favor of tonal socialism and change for the sake of it was a good idea. I think his ideas were wrong-headed, but he is an interesting (if somewhat funny) study of the ideas of the time.
GreatNorthernDad
What an exceedingly ignorant comment.
5:42 brett trying not to smile and failing miserably and eddy smiling like a madman
HAHA

Pull your lead out you go silent,
You can run but you can't Haydn!
1st and thats the second. Duh...
Brett's deadpan face game is as strong as ever.
Eddy being proud of Brett is 💯
Brett & Eddy have such strong prodigy eyebrow energy in this video
Probably need to bond more with Ray Chen for extra power. Lol
Watching this in 2020. Doesn't seem from the comments that anyone has commented on the actual playing going on here. I know they're only playing a few bars of each, but even that requires such a high level. Good job.(Love the bloopers, too.)
Twoset makes me realize that the same piece can sound so different depending on the performers😁😁😁
8:57 y’all love teasing us huh 🤪
5:32 I literally thought you were just checking your tuning.😆
I thought he was practicing open strings 😂
And then they just-
*silently laugh*
When I saw the title with “Evolution of...”
I KNEW I can watch it for 100 times
Enjoy their music
Pure enjoyment of the essence of music
Same
Same.
IKR I love these videos
after discovering Eddy's SuondCloud 6:40 just hits *different*
Eddy: plays Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky
Brett: plays sibelius
Me: confused screaming
I think I like brett’s Tchaikovsky and eddy’s sibelus rather than the other way around. I feel that eddy’s sound colour is kinda blue-y and brett’s is more like a brown. So when Brett plays those nice low notes in Tchaikovsky, it’s like a rich chocolateykind of feeling while eddy’s sibelus is more of a light blue, which I like.
That's a very synesthetic description...
I don't know about your colors thing, but I agree with your first sentence...
_When you've watched so much TwoSet that you can instantly recognize what they're playing._
Anastasia Wasylinko yay you’ve been educated 👍🏻
Eddy: Plays Tchaikovsky
Brett: Plays Sibelius
Me: 🧐🤨
i thought the same thing!
They were teasing us.
I dont get this?
IKR😭
@A.H Brett played Tchaikovsky for the 2M celebration, Eddy gonna play Sibelius for the 3M!
To help all of those people that want to add these songs to their playlists, that Mendelssohn violin concerto was actually in E minor, not D minor. Make sure other people see this please!
I love when Eddy gets emotional while playing 🥰
Brett always looks like he’s going thru an existential crisis...
because he is
He looks like Sartre OMG hahaa

Well, the Bloopers answered my question about why they both look like they're going to start laughing most of the time while they're playing; (well, except for at 2:24 when Brett's shoulder rest hits the floor........that one's obvious, lol)
Eddy: *serious violin playing*
Bretts shoulder rest: Aight, imma head out.
😂😂😂
Other way around
i love the growing conspiracy theory that the tchaikovsky playing at the end logo is an excerpt of brett's playing 😂
kyaaa i assumed it was. Can anyone confirm???
It doesn't sound like it to me, but I guess it could be.
5:40 i know eddy does this a lot but damn, that was cute💕
2:20 *clunk*
Eddy just knows
I love how Brett and Eddy just smiled when Brett's shoulder rest fell.
i would love to hear Eddy's version of the whole Mendelssohn!
YESS THEY ALWAYS STOP BEFORE THE QUICK TRIPLETS
Btw that was e minor not d minor d minor is the 1st violine conecrto. Duh...

Brett doesn’t look real when he plays. He looks extraordinary, do you guys get what I mean? Like the way he moves, the speed of his fingers, the accuracy of the notes... it’s incredible.
Check out Hilary Hahn
i love the little smirk he makes when playing, he is expressive i love it

I like how Eddy pays attention to Brett's playing, while Brett just has the im-dead-inside face when Eddy plays.
The Berg and Sibelius violin concertos will forever be my favorites till my dying day!!
How Eddy smiles every time Brett plays just brightens my heart
