  • Here we go ladies and gentlemen! My first ever official preview of Microsoft Flight Simulator!
I’ve been extremely excited to show you a little snippet of gameplay from my preview build and show you what this sim has to offer! It’s incredibly exciting!
Today we’re going back to absolute basics and looking at the final flight training video included with Microsoft Flight Simulator which looks at flying a Cessna 152 on a short flight utilising the skills you learn through the tutorials. They really aim at getting you to fly a light aircraft realistically and accurately as possible!
Welcome to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020

For example, I see you had the mixture pulled back to account for the density altitude, but if you hadn't, would the spark plugs have fouled when idling on the ground? What about ground effect? Did you feel any of that on your flare?

It’s certainly not on rails compared to earlier builds and light aircraft handle as I expect, weather seems quite dynamic which is great to see.
As soon as I get a quality 737 I can really pod and proke the flight model and see how the aircraft reacts to various inputs, speed ranges and external factors like weather. XP11 handles this well.

Do they come close to reality in comparison with the other sims? 2) Why don't you have Track IR? :P Looking forward to see you flying the PMDG 737 NG3!

It’s certainly not on rails compared to earlier builds and light aircraft handle as I expect, the aircraft also react to external factors (weather) which is great to see.
As soon as I get a quality 737 I'll be able to really prod and poke the flight model and see how the aircraft reacts to various inputs, speed ranges, something XP11 does well.

Great to see you on MSFS, wondering if it would be possible for you to test the flight model at all. Climbs, banks, stalls etc, there are many vids on here all showing off the graphics, which are the best and are absolutely stunning, no question there. But I’m yet to find any real in depth info about the actual flight model of the aircraft in the sim.
.I’m assuming as a real captain, you would be in the best position to let us know how it feels, is it on rails, does it feel and act realistically or has there been some toning down or artistic licence used?
While I’m sure it will be great, I can’t help but wonder why everyone seems to concentrate on the graphical side or weather side, rather than the flight model.

@@flightdeck2sim That's what I'm curious to see. I definitely love X-Plane with the Zibo mod (especially the price point between Zibo's free mod and the PMDG prices) but PMDG definitely seems to be a very detailed model, and the ability to have the new graphics and weather, and more importantly, the more detailed landscape without my having to spend time babysitting X-plane Ortho is definitely tempting.

I want to get your opinion, have you flown the A2A Accusim 172 in Prepar3d? or the AirFoilLabs 172 in Xplane 11? How does the stock 152/172 model in MSFS2020 compare? My buddy is shitting on stock aircraft (though he has no experience with MSFS 2020 yet...), and in the case of P3D or XP11 I can see why, but I thought both the AFL and A2A versions were pretty good, though I preferred the AFL version myself for various reasons (it felt more fluid, more dynamic) but I only have a few hours in a real 172. Both were good, but I'm curious to your thoughts on how realistic the flight model is? How the systems are?
The other concern I have is how bad the potential DRM might be for offline flying. I'd rather not be connected to the net 100% of the time, and I'm unsure how products might get pushed out. Will we be able to buy 3rd party aircraft from their own websites? or will we be forced to use the in-game Microsoft store? Will we be forced to make an Xbox account, if we buy through steam?

Been watching your videos for awhile! I'm a huge fan of your Zibo 737 videos, as they've helped me improve my sim flows coming from a real 737 pilot. One question I have, assuming you can talk freely: Have you played around with the graphics settings much? I have an i5-6500k, 32GB RAM, with a GTX1080. Do you think you'd want to upgrade your GPU first based on system usage, or is your CPU doing most of the heavy lifting as it seems to be with other flight sims? I'm looking at upgrading myself, though I can't afford a completely new system at this time.
