BMW Fanatic were these the number expected when running normal gas and testing befor running e85 or were these the numbers for running e85 and checking if it’s working properly
3:20 don't do this! Running your car below 1/4 will cause your very expensive fuel pump to burnout quicker as the fuel keeps it cool and running a low tank will cause too much heat and wreck it.
Hey, Questions regarding the use of Safeguard Ethanol (against pink mystery sludge). Have you ever... Looked at your injectors and fuel filter for gum-up? Looked at your piston tops for carbon buildup and others? Why are you running a tank of gasoline for cleaning purposes when you are using Safeguard for treatment? Ethanol is a greater solvent than gasoline anyway so running straight gasoline sounds superfluous, right?
Upgraded LPFP is a must for adding ethanol. Surprised you did not mention it, but you still get a 👍🏻👍🏻. I went with the Fuel it stage 2 LPFP. #BMWFanaticLife🏁
I don’t understand mixing, why not just go full e85? On my current platform, everybody just does straight e85 no mixing. I see on this platform as well as Audi even a lot of people just mix and I’m not sure why. Even if just an injector upgrade is worth it, why not? The charge cooling in e85 is far superior to that of e30 and e50
BMW pretty much blamed Ethanol in fuels for the high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) failures. Historically even with just 5% biofuel they have blamed this for rotting various parts within the fuel system. Problem is, you can't buy fuel that doesn't have some level of biofuel! Even though, for some of their cars, it's in the BMW manual not to use biofuel you simply can not avoid it. Essentially, BMW cars of that type are not fit for purpose. Owners through no fault of themselves can't meet BMW's requirements. Certainly it seems that even slightly elevated levels of biofuel can badly affect the HPFP (Tesco 99 fuel), and if it's got any weakness it will do so rapidly too (which happened to mine). The only caveat I add is that since you're in the USA your car has probably had much more support than UK BMW customers. I believe your HPFP is warranted out to 10 years, after having serious Lemons with the 335i. In the UK it's a little bit different - BMW are not interested.
It would be nice if my state or any surrounding state near Denver had anything above 91 octane. Lived in OH for 30 years. 95 was available at the pump at almost every gas station. I can't drive within reason anywhere to buy anything above 91. E85 is available at some places however.
👍 I find ur channel very relevant. Ur always giving us good info. Now when I have a question. I find myself thinking “I bet BMW fanatic has a video for this” which usually u do. Thanx for good informative videos my dude. Much appreciated.
So now that there is the Fuel It! dongle available to work alongside JB-4, have you added this and altered your maps? Not the logging prep, that I would imagine is a baseline no matter what extra sensors you would add.
So can I run e85 on e60 n54 ? I have fbo with jb4 what else do I need ? Or can I just empty and fill out with e85 and map5 jb4 pls explain first time trying this thanks
Can you do a video on methanol? I just got a 435i with the n55 motor and I'm looking into the first things I wanna do and your videos help greatly. Thanks.
I have 335i n54 motor. Have catless downpipe, DCI , Charge pipe with Bov, upgraded to bigger intercooler, and Jb4 tune. Will I be ok to run 3 gallons of E85 blend mix with a full tank of 93 octane on stock fuel pump
No but I mean if your running E you’d obviously have a tune. Do you have stock downpipes??You should consider new downpipes that are less restrictive like catless ones or high flows cats
Dude your Amazing!!! I do the same thing just thought it was natural to do....you just confirmed what i already was doing after every mix!! Including maps when I'm not running e85, I'd changing them as i go.....it seemed natural man i tell ya👍
I have a bmw 328i e92 coupe sport N 51 engine I just ran e85 with no tune and I see a significant increase in horsepower and torque so what are you talking about .
Noticed you are no longer running the dual cowl filters anymore and your cowls are installed again. Any reason for this? I run the dual cowl filters after watching your videos and want to know if there are any downsides
Great video man! I honestly had no idea about the ethanol additive, so that info will be very useful for when i run E85 ! Also the info regarding safeguarding your car with different maps was really good. I'll have to be very cautious when I first start out! Lol
I have a 2013 BMW X1 with the N20 and a Afe power schorcher, can I run e85 mix or do I need JB4? Also would I benefit from 100 octane? I brought the car in and needed a new turbo the service people said it was using low grade gas... I only use 93 octane. Maybe it was the tune.
patonga7 That video is correct when discussing most factory unmodified cars. Once you start modding that video (in the presenters own words)"is total Bullshit" and can't be used.

make a video of explaining how read logs will be very helpful 👍
Daniel Hernandez Working on that one 😀
BMW Fanatic did it ever happen?

Gohan335i7 Anything over e30, yep!
Gohan335i7 great choice! 👍🏻
BMW Fanatic so just upgrade my pump to run full E85 should I Upgrade anything else? I have the JB4 in my car already.
Same car same question just in NZ

Stock turbos are maxed by e85. You need a new fuel pump + inlets. E30 can run on boltons

John Sim interesting point. Id love to hear a response on this.

Good job, I had been thinking about this but did not get too much out of forums. Thank you!
Can you do a video on methanol? I just got a 435i with the n55 motor and I'm looking into the first things I wanna do and your videos help greatly. Thanks.
How do you properly calculate a e40 mix with 91 octane??
I have 335i n54 motor.
Have catless downpipe, DCI , Charge pipe with Bov, upgraded to bigger intercooler, and Jb4 tune.
Will I be ok to run 3 gallons of E85 blend mix with a full tank of 93 octane on stock fuel pump
Kate Thao use the e85 mix calculator on google helps a lot with calculating a mix. Ive been running e85 mix on stock fuel pump
Thanks for the reminder. I did forget to swi ch back to pump backend.
+p 2o 👍🏻
I didn't even know this was possible, I just get e91 and call it a day lol.
What is e91
What codes are thrown for high pressure fuel pump failure
E85 is all is sold in the UK mainly now well I run my e46 m54 car snap start first start but when warm ok
As I watch this video I can't help but laugh at how the big brother is drifting his little brother in the stroller. 😂
what happens if you use the wrong map with ethanol?
3:26 BRUH I never knew what that green circle was for on my car 🤣🤣
Ong my shit been dangling 😂😂
Do you need catless downpipes to run e85?
No
No but I mean if your running E you’d obviously have a tune. Do you have stock downpipes??You should consider new downpipes that are less restrictive like catless ones or high flows cats
How much you selling the house?
Dude your Amazing!!! I do the same thing just thought it was natural to do....you just confirmed what i already was doing after every mix!! Including maps when I'm not running e85, I'd changing them as i go.....it seemed natural man i tell ya👍
How much more do you spend on gas per week/month or whatever?
So how much does adding the the Lucas eat into your e85 savings per gallon?
So if I'm constantly at 72psi on the sensor but it drops down to 50psi for a second and then back up after a pull is that bad ?
What if you put a Malbroro 450 lpfp can I run it on map 6 or stick with map 5 ? I have all full bolt ons
Can you run e85 with 92 octane? Hard to find 93 octane here in Washington. But I have e85 just down the street.
yes its basically the same thing. put a quarter tank of e85 and the rest 92
@Splash Smokey Point. The station is about a mile west of I-5 off 172nd.
I’ve been using 5gal for like 6 years no problems .
without a tune?
@@chancemcmaken2353 with jb4 auto tune. The car is dead now tho. Knocking on wood could have prevented this.
yes sir rippp :(
@@whoareyou551 lol still sitting in my garage collecting dust.
yes sir fix it up bro engines are cheap
Is 2 step colder plugs required? Im running mhd 2+ e30 with oem coils/plugs until my PR coils and ngk 2 step colders get here
I have a bmw 328i e92 coupe sport N 51 engine I just ran e85 with no tune and I see a significant increase in horsepower and torque so what are you talking about .
Lmao! 🧐 Peasant 😒
Show me your BMW and I'll give you a 5 second Head start I guarantee I'll catch you lol...
What does that ethanol additive do and why do you need it? First time I see someone mentioning it
Domas64 Prevents rust and corrosion associated with ethanol fuels being in your tank/fuel system. More or so preventative maintenance for long term.
Noticed you are no longer running the dual cowl filters anymore and your cowls are installed again. Any reason for this? I run the dual cowl filters after watching your videos and want to know if there are any downsides
xCapricornzx Long story, but I bought the M3 cowl but got screwed in the deal, so I'm back buying it again. Nothing wrong with the cowl filters!
xCapricornzx dual cowl filter? Can you elaborate a little more? Are we talking about the grill air scoops?
Great video man! I honestly had no idea about the ethanol additive, so that info will be very useful for when i run E85 ! Also the info regarding safeguarding your car with different maps was really good. I'll have to be very cautious when I first start out! Lol
Simply Car Things Thanks man! Yep, gotta be safe!!
Can I still use e85 I have jb4 and map5 on my n55 but the flex fuel connector is not connected thanks
Tyler Banh Of course, stock LPFP can handle up to an e30 mix!
Tyler Banh With nothing else added
BMW Fanatic thanks so what's the flex fuel connector does
BMW Fanatic
What do you mean a e30 mix? I'm new at this so help me understand.
U need to install a flux capacitor :)
The tune needs to be able to make the changes for the added octane - it’s all in the tune if it has a map to support e85 etc
BMW Fanatic Gatcha, Okay, I need a JB4 or similar then.. Thanks
Great video bro
A code P0597 popped up on my 2014 BMW X1. What dies that mean. Thx
Where do you get the ethanol additive from?
Dylan Bowles amzn.to/2xRF18U
06 Mini Cooper s can I run e85
Can u run map 5 without a ethanol mix
Ever plan on making a DIY for changing lpfp sensor no DIY out there
Alan Gonzales Agree on that - no DIY. Oh I'm sure here eventually!
BMW Fanatic that would be awesome I'm sure I'm not the only one looking for a DIY.
What do you use to data log ?
JB4
Am I the only one that was worried about the kid on the back...😬😬😬
Crazy, he’s 9 now and I have 2 more lol. Time sure does fly by
@@BMWFanatic wow, time definitely flys
Hello BMW Fanatic,
May I know How many Gasoline and E85 gallons when you done E30?
3 gallons of e85 and the rest 93
How did you learn so much about BMWs?
Why run E-85 when you can buy Shell 93?
+DirkDiggler6903 more octane and more boost when mixed
great info! you should tell all the people that buy racefuel they are throwing there money away all you need is 93! or just use 87 even better
More octane = more boost = more power. Its just that simple.
patonga7 That video is correct when discussing most factory unmodified cars. Once you start modding that video (in the presenters own words)"is total Bullshit" and can't be used.
Are you drunk son
Cor sexy
I got a 328i
st4ylifted Get him outta here!!!
Purist checking in :P
At 3:18 did you say every 5 fill ups you fill up with JUST 93?
Yep, to help keep the fuel system clean aka fuel trickling
I'm curious, here in California our 91 has up to a 10% ethanol content. Does your 93 have the same?
YoCasinoJoe e10=91 octane. e12=93 octane
YoCasinoJoe 91 octane is always at least 10%. Not up to. Because if it doesnt have 10% then its not 91 octane
You should cover your plate number...👌🤷 FWB 8107
Lucas is really a bad product. Right there with Seafoam.
👍
cute kid
Damn, back when 93 was $3 🥲
Right!
