    thanks man very helpful, i used the total gas tank capacity which was 15.8 for me and then checked the obd2 sensor value for how much gas was in the tank to calculate. After i run out of the current blend i'll prob run a full 93 tank to check the fuel tank display value like how you advised to get it more accurately before returning E30.

      I filled my car up and the sensor was still at like 86 percent I wouldn't go off of that I let it go all the way to 0 miles range and did like a 33 percent mix just to be safe now I just do a 6-7 gallon e30 mix anytime it gets to half

    Surprised no one has asked yet... on the first switchover from pump gas, you would need to assume the 15.8 gallon tank to account for the ~1 gallon still in reserve, yes? and then once you're up to the desired blend, you can knock down the tank size to the displayed 14.5 gallons? is that right?

    • @mcartier713
      @mcartier713 7 місяців тому

      or just add one gallon of gas less than the app calls for? either way.

    As always, great video Kern. Something that isn't very clear now though is whether the stock HPFP on a gen 1 b58 can handle even E30 blends. I've read some tuners have used the stock HPFP for full E85 blends, yet some people say not to even try e30 on a stock pump.

    • @kern417
      @kern417  3 роки тому +1

      Any fuel pump can support any blend when tuned properly. However you're likely to lose power when running more than e30-e50 because you have to reduce boost to a safe level.

    I have a WRX, hoping Cobb makes a Flex Fuel kit again. I technically no need it but then I'd have to have dual tunes and switch back and forth if no e85 available. So most likely I'll wait for a new flex fuel kit. Apparently they're putting R&D into a new one so
    There's a Sunoco nearby that goes all the way down to e51

    Hey I get my E delivered in a drum. Tests for E98. Was wondering if I should mix it with 93 octane or 91. The guy who sells the ethanol told me to mix it with 91 because our shell 91 has 0% ethanol so it makes for the most accurate mix. Our good 93 octane contains 5-10% ethanol which makes it harder to get precise mix. So my question is should I use 91 to get the most accurate mix? or use 93 for that extra octane points and try to get it as exact as I can?

    • @kern417
      @kern417  2 роки тому +1

      It shouldn't matter much. You can test 93 the same way as e85 to confirm the ethanol content.
