No, you are wrong to think this. Society distinguishes minors from adults for important reasons some of which are backed up with scientific evidence. We cant have it both ways and decide to only ignore that if a kid does something particularly brutal. If he was 17 or even 16 I might be able to agree with you but only because that would bring up the larger issue society has regarding when and how we distinguish people as adults.

Why doesn't the law establish some children as an adult when it comes to voting, drinking alcohol, driving, sleeping with adults, etc? Kids make up their minds to do those things, too. No child should be tried as an adult.

Charles Manson the notorious Mastermind serial killer talked about this and why his reasoning why and many others like himself turned out to be the way he is better to put it he said something of the sort that Society made him this way. Instead of rising above the obstacles they made a conscious choice to do evil and be evil and be the problem a generational curse to society instead of becoming the solution and advocates in deterring violence and destruction in the world. Sad all around the level of deviants and the progressive perpetual degradation that society is lowering itself to becoming as due to this reason society itself is breaking down.

People are selfish, and entitled.
