I just had a Coast Life marathon weekend. I watched all of them from the beginning to this latest published one. I love all that you both have done to not only this boat, but also your first one. Its nice to see the evolution of your current sail boat from the day ya picked it up to its current state. Keep up the great work and videos. Ive enjoyed each one.
Good job with the new boat, rib dinghy, outboards, dodger and bimini! I just got up-to-date w/this season. Please share the Amazon "bimini" link, as I didn't notice any that were wider than 90"...NS is very beautiful; I want an A30 for my first boat. I'm retired and thought I'd get it this summer, but still recovering from a cancer scare since Feb --- I had to change everything, from diet, exercise and lifestyle --- definitely need more tennis and sailing, now...
Thanks guys for sharing...a great task filming and editing and very much appreciated!! Some magic scenery around Nova Scotia and certainly great sailing waters.I would love to see move of Mahone Bay, what a pristine piece of country. Here in Australia you would have 30 boats in there, people partying and churning up with waters with jet skis........lucky to have it almost to yourselves! You guys are so chilled, nothing seems to be a problem with whatever you do...bimini looks great, well done. Happy sailing Cheers.......
Actually Mahone Bay is full of sailboats and there are a few floating cabins that people live on as well. It is a huge marine village, being only 10-15 minutes from Lunenburg, home of Nova Scotia's bluenose. I have a friend in Lunenburg who says every wednesday they all sail around the bay and then go to the rum runner's shack (floating cabin on the water) where they go for a drink and party. It's a lovely town that just can't be done justice without visiting!! :)
www.flickr.com/photos/142886035@N02/? here's a pic of the floating cottage and some boats moored at Mahone Bay, these shots were taken 2-3 weeks ago :-) (edit: i noticed the date on the site is wrong - my camera has never had the proper date set, I just haven't bothered to do it!)
Nice job on the Bimini and the tender looks great too. That little 2 horse pushes it along quite well. I'm quite envious, I haven't been out for a sail all summer.
The bimini turned out great. Also real nice job on the dinghy. Very professional looking. Love the channel. Keep up the great work. Thanks for sharing.
It was great seeing Backmans Island again. It was my favourite anchorage when we lived on the east coast. I likely used the same mooring ball. When we moved to BC people were shocked to hear that east coasters share moorings. Out here there'd be lawsuits. People even plant fake mooorings just to keep boats from anchoring off their property. I liked the east coast way better. PS: My wife and I have also enjoyed a few beer at a campfire on Backmans with Gino and Jeanne-Mance, back when they were sailboaters. He's the best marine surveyor I know. Say hi from me and get him to show you the free mooring ball at Cross Island. Great spot to hike.
Wait, that didn't come out right. I liked the east coast way of sharing moorings way better. I love my native east coast, but both coasts offer great sailing... Did I mention I love Backmans Island.
Couple tips for you, you can get a RV fridge that runs 12V and low amps to help with power draw and much cheaper than a marine fridge. They sealed so corrosion not an issue. Also you beautiful little dingy you should put sun block on the parts above the water line, keep it looking new for many years.
Over there there is thunder and lightning, very frightening. You are a poet, and you don't know it 😉 Little Coasty looks awesome, you did a fine job on him/her👍 Thanks for your ten hours hard labor editing,I for one appreciate it😊
I visited Halifax for the first time in 2017 and loved it. I found your videos after searching for videos done in the area, and I really enjoy seeing you progress as boaters, sailors, and cruisers. Thanks for the vids. A dodger would be great, and a dodger with a bimini? Greater still!
Great video guys. Love following your little adventures. You sailing season is prob coming to an end pretty soon unfortunately. I sail a smallish reservoir in Ohio but managed to spend the weekend up on Lake Erie recently with some amazing weather. Looking forward to the next video.
for the fridge/freezer, upgrade to a more battery friendly unit like an isotherm that draws less amperage. Its the amps that are killing your batteries.....a wind generator might help too....seeing I am sure nova scotia is just as windy as newfoundland
Great video, and good job with your bimini install (I just paid $1800 to have the sunbrella replaced on the bimini for my Hunter 410, so you came out WAAAAY ahead!).
Bummer about the fridge running the batteries down so quickly. I hate using an auxiliary propulsion until for a generator. Racks up too many hours. Small generator is the way to go unless you're making long passages, then a wind turbine too. Little Honda 1000 would be perfect for you. Plenty of watts and light weight so easy to handle on deck.
I have nothing against "renewable" energy sources, they are great until they break. I am no fan of putting like 30 square feet of solar sail up for obvious reasons, though many don't mind. A decent wind generator setup though will set you back a few boat bucks though and be as good as the wind. For about a third of that you can put an end to this particular issue for now and have a good backup to whatever solution in renewable energy you arrive at for what I believe to be a comparably modest cost. The good hydro generators entail a considerable cost as well for the better ones. The generator will buy you time so if you do not get it exact on the strike you still have that ongoing buffer. Just be sure you run ALL the gas out of it before taking it below. It really does not take much gasoline in warm weather to set the stage for something nobody wants going down. Hopefully you storage array is still up to snuff. FLA and AGM batteries are a real PITA. I'm looking at Carbon Foam storage for my next dance. Sick of the topping issues of the FLA and AGM units.
Nice job, bimini looks good! When you guys were looking for racing boats noticed you had a reef in the main. It didn't look like it was blustery, just a comfort thing? That boat should be able to withstand up to 18 or 20 without reefing. I don't know a lot about that model Hunter, just comparing to my Catalina 320 which is shorter. My point here, is that people go "running for the reef" when a lot of times you can simply lower the traveler (which dumps air) and achieve the same thing. Racing books advise lowering the traveler until you run out of traveler, and then reef. But hey whatever floats your boat. ;)
Hey there! I've always been in the back seat, as some videos I'm more apart of and some not so much. Lately I've been less involved in them, I realize. Honestly, I don't know if it'll stay that way. Thanks very much for watching! :) - Katie
Found you guys on Instagram and thought I’d come check you out and have subbed after watching a couple of your videos 😊... I also have a channel you might like if you have a few spare minutes 🏝⛵️🐠🐟🦀
You can try on amazon. they may ship to the U.K. but they don't to Canada. Our Red Bubble shirts ship world wide. But unfortunately they won't host our Coast Life shirt because "someone" filed a copyright complaint to them. :/
I’ll give Amazon a go... great channel btw, your ‘not sure how but we’re doing it anyway’ attitude has inspired us to spend this years holiday (vacation?) cash on a 25ft’er ... here we go... !
Hope you not trespassing on someones private island. Thats disrespectful of someones property. You cant just walk into someones house, an island is no different.
Gee, another couple sailing to there dreams come true. Great. Just watched Island Hopping. Listen! the( couples go sailing) bit is a saturated market here on UA-cam. No one wants to see your buoy dance or an osprey. Understand?...unwatchable. Your wife is pretty, feature her more. Your not funny, don't try and be. Put the wife in front of the camera and people will watch. Do it in a way that's classy and dignified but get yourself out of every frame. EVERY solid Sailing channel has a good looking wife/girlfriend doing the valued talking. do this and watch your numbers take off.

Ps... I'm also a big Delos fan as well. So now I have two favorite sailboat channels to watch.
That's awesome! Thank you :)
I always enjoy your videos. They are worth the effort that you have to put in.

Another good one. I enjoyed the music in this video, perfectly fit the mood.

Our fridge only draws a 2.7 amps. It's a 12v keco Eco cooler. it's just our battery system wasn't really cutting it.
I love the dog "handle" !
great episode guys. bimini looks nice. cheers from Charlottetown, Bryan.
Thanks Bryan! So far so good!
Glad your dinghy project is a complete success🙂 Nova Scotia sure is nice.
Over there there is thunder and lightning, very frightening.

Yeah, it seems like a generator or solar is in order. Probably both really. more redundant systems the better!

a link for bimini please looks great
what size boat you got , which is the least expensive marina to dock a boat at

We didn't reef on this run, we had just forgotten/didn't bother to shake out the reef from a previous time.
It's beautiful up there♡
Nice video!
Thank you
Always nice videos, so this is your old boat? Maybe your new second boat?
Been looking for a new episode where y’all been
My wharf is in the Back Harbour
I do enjoy your episodes and wounder if you could tell me the name of the artist and song in this video. Keep up the good work and thank you.
Very nice Chad.
Thanks Mr Stirling ;)
Love your style! #ChillDIY
Thanks Chase!
Why so much motor and not more sail?
Nice Acadian flag! Which one of you is Acadian?
Technically, I am (Chad) but that is our friend Gino's flag on his boat.
Ten hours! Ha ha, I hate editing but do enjoy the rewards.
i am thinking about a hunter 31 what you think? 1984
We've been happy with our Hunter 34!
