- This episode sets the theme for our first Canadian Cruising Experience: A little thing we like to call Adult Summer Camp! First, we set sail and head into Lake Bras’dor by navigating the famous St. Peter's Lock. Once anchored, we do some provisioning in the nearby town. And then its finally time to begin exploring a new anchorage a little further off the beaten path. Once there, we make our first bonfire and have dinner by it's light along with our friend Brian, our buddy boat for the season. The next day we explore via kayak and paddle boards, discovering a vast, unspoiled, and stunningly beautiful place.

Great video guys
Lovely video. Great scenery, and this is definitely on my "wish to visit" list!
We absolutely love Nova Scotia! One of our favorite cruising destinations!
Love the vids
Thanks!!!
Yeay summer camp! :) Hurry down for winter camp...
working on it! after this mini refit Calico Skies is coming to winter camp with all her new toys :)
Another fantastic video. Your editing skills are awesome. Great flow from one scene to the next.
Thanks so much Earl! We've been working to improve :)
Hey guys ;-) cool bit of info about the double doors locks system and the tides ( never knew that ! )
and "Baby Starfish " !!! never seen one before , that was really wonderful . Happy trails to you both ;-)
We went down a bit of a rabbit hole on the lock this morning trying to figure out why there is a lock at the south entrance but none required at the north. Turns out it was a natural lake that drained to north and the southern lock was added to allow access from the south. Fun stuff!
Crazy looks like Oak Island is around the corner 🤔
Welcome to Canada 👍🙂
Thanks! Beautiful place!
Nice video Calico Skies!!! Stay warm over there ;)
Thanks! It rainy and in the 40's, we gotta go south!
Great content and videos.....can,t understand why you don,t have more subscribers .Certainly one of my fav.We used to sail a Nonsuch when we were young. Cheers 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Much appreciated! Nonsuch's are cool boats! So much room and unique rig!
You guys should be sponsored by PBR:)
Ha I wouldn’t be opposed to that! -Bill :)
A bit too cold for me….. I love your voice Grace, so soothing…..you would make a good yoga instructor 🌹
Thanks 🥰 !after a prolonged period in the tropics there is something so cozy about cooler weather! It does get old on a couple months hahahh
Sail me from Mexico to there undetected 😁
😂
Hey guy! Your videos are good and I enjoy watching. One small suggestion...when you talk to the camera, don’t look at the screen. Look at the camera so it doesn’t appear you looking off to the side. I think it make your videos that much better. Cheers!
Hey there! Thank you . . . that was a really bad habit of mine (Grace). Learning how to film myself on camera (and even to be comfortable on camera) has been a learning process. I *think* I finally mastered the eye contact thing in our latest season in the Bahamas though. Also, getting a real camera and not filming predominately on our google phone has made it much easier not to mistakenly do that!
Calico Skies Sailing hey no judging here. I would be much worse! Found you guys through watching Delos. Happy Thanksgiving and cheers.
Fantastic! Lake Bras’Ord is fresh or salt water?
Brackish! We were running our watermaker at 400psi instead of 850psi to account for the lower salinity lol
🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
How was the mosquito situation at that time of year in Nova Scotia?
not too bad actually, around sunset we would put the screens up and hide below but right after the sun went down it was fine. Cape Breton is a pretty perfect cruising ground!
You don't say "over" on the radio until the conversation is over lmao
over and out 😂
