Ey! This was really fun to put together. I wasn't really sure how it was going to go, and for some reason I thought there was more to the song, but when I remembered the entire thing could be looped, I decided to just hit record and roll with it. I did a couple test recordings and then two takes and we were done! My test recordings are pretty funny. Most of the time I'm just playing around and seeing what will sound good, or soloing (either on the Push or on trombone), let alone trying to figure out the right slide positions for the alto trombone (it's in Eb, while the traditional trombone is in Bb). This means these recordings are sometimes 40 minutes long. Every time I make a mistake, I have to wait for the next iteration of the loop to try again, so yeah... sometimes these things are massive. They're not real recordings, they're more like "proof of concept", but in any case I think it's a funny notion that I end up with these massive 10 minute solos and things. When I did Uptown Funk, my proof of concept recording was about an hour and fifteen minutes. I was REALLY figuring out how to use the Push back then and my solos were massive and ultimately not incredibly interesting :p.
I feel like I keep saying it, but I have some exciting new plans for after we hit 100k subscribers. Now I'm just trying to figure out new ways to get us there sooner! Right now my goal is February or March, but the projection looks more like next summer. That'd be a bummer!
