One of the things I love about watching a choir is how they always look happy to be singing and performing with their friends. It’s infectious and a bit of envy-inducing too.
Me too
You nailed it! "They join because they like to sing - they stay because they make a friend." - Francisco Nunez.
Thanks for watching!
Singing in a choir is a very special bonding experience!
I would do almost anything for the chance to sing in a chorus or choir again. They don’t really do that in rural Colorado
You have no idea unless you've experienced the joy of singing in a choir.
I don't know about everyone else, but I love the guy grooving in the back with the violin... he epitomizes the way music brings people together in that one does not have to be "the star" but rather taking pleasure in enjoying and celebrating the performance of others
Ralf J. Bater, also others that read this comment, this is a true definition of all people working together. Would be nice to see more of this in the World today!
John, Australia.
I loved watching the conductor ❤
truth
That guy is having THE best time huh? 😁
100%
This is what REAL diversity looks like. Young people brought together who share a common interest whose voices combined are so much more powerful than any one of them alone. We need leaders, like this choral director, who can bring people together, not divide them.
Yes,yes,yes ❤❤❤
A great channeling of positive community energy.
Diversity on the same page, that is.
With a director and notes to sing in sync.
We need lead singers.
Diversity of everything, except thought
All the nations , all the colours , all of us , singing a lullaby song . Bless !!!
The conductor doesn't move, he floats .
One of the characteristics that makes humans a most successful and remarkable species is our capacity for teamwork. There is perhaps no more sublime expression of this than a choir or orchestra.
Have you ever watched a colony of ants or a hive of bees?
It doesn’t matter where we from let’s united as one
Beautiful piece from Africa ❤
That conductor was awesome!❤❤
Sometimes, the urge to sing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" is just a whim away...a whim away...a whim away...a whim away...
You... I see what you did and I love it!
It is said that this is taken from an African cattleman song. I was once sitting in a pickup waiting for my dad to get off work and drive him home. It was taking a lot longer than expected. I started singing for my own amusement with no one around. When I got to this song and started singing, all of the cattle that were in the field came to the fence and were staring at me. I guess someone found out a long time ago that cows have a musical preference as well.
I feel there is magic wasted with no herd to hear.
Well, You are not far from truth, the original song is called Mbumbe (1939) By Solomon Linda, who is a South African Male born in 1909. I know the Solomon Linda Family Personally.
in fact, this year, his statue will be unveiled in Zola Soweto.
This is the best conductor ever
Yes fitst time I heard it this evening , think that the Sexes and Nationalty benefit this version so so much : Thank you
This is the sight and the sound of the future. We’re gonna be okay. ☺️☺️☺️
The urge to sing this song has always just been a whim away!
the world needs a whole lot more of this
They looked like they were having so much fun sing that. I love it.
HONY brought me here. Beautiful unique power indeed. And how he invited the crowd to sing along. Inclusivity and encouragement all the way! Love from Indonesia 🧡

One of my favorite songs of all time and i really love and enjoy watching the young people sing and the energy and the enthusiasm of the director! Love it well done young!❤
I meant to say well done young people!
THERE IS NO SOUND MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN A GROUP SINGING TOGETHER
I had to play this twice - the first time, I only listened, and only the second time, I was also able to watch them, to focus on the video, to see how their own tunes move them. If my comment reaches anybody, that will most likely be *after* you've already played the video, but if by any chance not - consider closing your eyes and *just listening* first. This music speaks directly to the heart.
What beautiful words, thank you so much!!
I'm old enough to remember this song in the early 60's on th Ed Sulivan Show and I sang along it is infectious!!!
This is a conductor and choir at the top of their game.
It's simply poetry in motion. They make something that's got to be seriously hard to do look so effortless and amazing..
I totally love it...
It’s not hard if you have a talent for music , I don’t read notes , so I sing and play the piano by ear
Awesome. This is what real music sounds like. More schools should challenge other schools...
HONY brought me here.😊
Wasn't it sweet...😁

Wonderful! It looked like a cross section of humanity, the Leage of Nations - so great to see, wonderful to hear!
This song and particularly this version, it never fails to make me happy
That song just never seems to get old. Great performance!
Right???!!!!!
Ive known this song for 40 (?) years. Its only now i find out its not "wimbaway" but wimoway. Lol. i still cant unhear the "b" though. Apparently my ears are to old now to be corrected.
No matter what these kids accomplish in life as a fifty four year old man I can attest you will look back on this as one of your happiest moments.
The choir director is a former classmate of mine.
Awwwwwwwe-some! How much fun can we all have when we get along and sing!
So BEAUTIFUL, all these Wonderful People here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HONY brought me here. You’re all fantastic and keep making magic and fun!
I would love to have that man direct my choir. Nice job kids.
What a fabulous cross section of kids. Well done
Music defines us as human beings and never fails to pull us together

Another gift from HONY. 👏👏🙌🙌
What a great choir - so much diversity, but united as one in beautiful harmony - an excellent example for society
This was released back when I was a kid. Love hearing it again with a sense of love and passion!
These boys and girls seem to be having a lot of fun while singing this melodious song , your hardwork really pays off ! You all have lots of potential and you have a very unique power in your singing."
Keep up the good work everyone 👏
Glorious. 👍👍👍👍
This version of the classic ALWAYS brings a smile to my heart. Dunno who the guy with violin is, he represents the joy of the spirit of this song.
The entire group is awesome. All your harmony is awesome 👏🏽🔥

Everyone struggling with depression and sadness in general should join a choir.
It doesnt matter who you are or where you are or what your situation is, this makes you feel good. It restores my faith in humanity, good things do still happen 😊
My son, as a member of the Auburn University Concert Choir, was blessed to sing at the Lincoln Center. It was a key marker in my life because I sang in High School and I sang there as well. To sing at the Lincoln Center in any way is an honor. You have made it if you sing there.
Wonderfull gratulation
What an awesome Conductor/Leader/Teacher !! Job well done !!!
I remember hearing this hit song by the Tokens on the radio in 1961. It was revived and brought back to popularity by Disney when they used it in the hit movie The Lion King, in 1994, introducing this unique song and sound to a new generation.
Try the Miriam Makeba version. It's completely different with a deep feeling in it. Love both versions because they give such a different feeling.
anyone who has sung in a choir or an ensemble will tell you what a liberating and enjoyable experiences it is
Inspiring! There's nothing like seeing young people making music..... You just warmed a brutally cold winter night in the UK.....
Incredible, had to watch twice. Love seeing young people having fun. 💕💓❤️💖
only twice?
Gorgeous young people enjoying the day and singing their hearts out. Made me smile...
In the 60’s, when I was in high school marching band, we performed a half-time show using this melody. What fun it was!
Thanks for sharing! I’m the female soloist on This Land Is Your Land.😊
This was spiritual perfection.
Awesome to see some young people sing so beautifully, clothed and in their right mind
I was 13 years old when I heard "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" for the first time.
It was with a group called The Hounds and that song has stayed with me through the years
and still remain in my head with text and only good memories with positive experiences. Funny that it lives on with so many.
“You all sound fantastic!” Thakyou all for taking me back to my choir experiences as a schoolgirl……Love you all xxx
HONY thank you for sharing his story.. all i see here is pure magic from beautiful people ❤❤
The best part of my younger days (and for a long time after) was singing in choirs.🎉🎉 There’s nothing like standing in the middle of a group like this and knowing that you’re adding to it.

the best version of this song that I ever heard, I turn it on whenever I start my PC.
I can't listen to this without smiling.
When I first came to America as a seven year old boy I remember hearing this song .. So, every time I hear it, I become that little boy again …. I get a bit teary hearing it
These folks look like they’re having a wonderful time!! ❤️
Hats off to these young people.
Fabulous! It made my spirit soar.
All those lovely young people making a beautiful noise!! Keep it going forever!!!!
Agree ❤
Beautiful , from Germany! 👍🏼🍀
Hony brought me here 🤗🤗
I love coming back to this video, it is just so uplifting and everyone just has so much energy. Nick Kendall bouncing around in the background with the smile on his face is an added bonus and really tells a lot about the energy and atmosphere there!
Nothing soothes the soul better than music
Watching and listening to young people not only sing excellent music but enjoy it bring tears to my eyes. Awesome director as well. Thank you guys, and bravo! 👏👏👏👏👏
Came here from Humans of New York.
What a thrill it is to see young people putting in the effort to make beautiful music.
Love this song, wonderful to hear it sang by young people! I'm 63 and used to sing it when I was a young girl.

These young people are the BEST!
Several times that Harmony gave me the chills. Love when that happens..
If you are one of the singers featured in this video, we thank you. Idk man, this just hits a vibe I cant explain. And brag about it bc yall killed it. Every one of you.
Brisbane Australia here... Very Good..
This brings me pure joy, words can't even convey it. My toddler and first grader are dancing to this with my wife, now, on their third or fourth listen.
Pure. Joy.
I kind of want this version of the song for download. Not joking. Want to be able to buy it.
That was fabulous! When the human spirit comes together in song, it is so empowering and a state of grace. Thank you.
Just wonderful. Takes me back to 1956, Park forest I’ll,Jay Howell and the Singing Rockets from Rich Township High School. Wonderful Times
There's no way I could watch this too many times! Though I would love to hear them sing this without his direction.
Harmony, both in the voices and the makeup of the choir.
So much joy on all those young, beaming faces. Great performance🙂🙂🙂
One of my ABSOLUTE favourite songs
The violinist... should definitely be a TV star. He has a natural sympathy that is beyond perfect 🤣🤣🤣👌👌
Beautiful…. just beautiful, I hope all of those young people have a bright future 🙏🏼
Many good versions about, but this has to be one of the very best. Thank you Young People NYC. Wonderful stuff.
I watch this every single time it appears in my feed!!
I was a singing member decades ago! This beautiful piece of course was way after my time. What a thrill for every single person participating!
WOW.!!! what beautiful talent, voices and singing .!
