- After 16 months I finally got to see The Tedeschi Trucks Band. A friend from college turned me onto this song; I then played it for my brother, who then showed me Derek and Warren playing “Into the Mystic” from 2012. My brother Jeff loved a good Jam and during his final week here on earth we listened to Warren Haynes and Dave Matthews do “Cortez the Killer”, John Mayer doing “Covered in Rain”, and Derek and Susan doing “Midnight in Harlem," Jeff and I deemed it “Midnight in Johnstown.”
Watch an amazing 11 minute, live version of "Midnight in Harlem"with Derek’s ability to make his slide guitar sound like a vocalist; some of the best Jazz and Blues Voicings one could ever experience in a live setting. Let’s just say the solo can be a very emotional piece of music; as there were many tear-filled-eyes during the final guitar solo.
Thanks to Susan, Derek and all The Trucks Band members, you guys Rock!
Super Close-Up of SOLO - Спорт
Are you kidding me. How lucky are these fans. The band is underrated. But we get them all for ourselves. Wonderful.
I can't believe there is so few people. This will go down the greats of our time.
He doesnt play with his heart, his heart plays him. Mesmerising performance all aroud. Natural beauty.
They are the best and long live their family the allman brothers💖
Derek's guitar tone is so beautiful....💚🎸
these are good tears, healing, purging deep sorrow and releasing its grip from my soul. Dereck is a liberator of souls, once captives of their hearts sorrow,. he breaks the chains and sets them free to flow joyfully into the river of hope and dreams.
Well if a guitar solo was ment to make you cry this was one of them wow!
Another one of their Greatest! Consequently they are one of Top greatest Blues bands in recent Memory, Allman Brothers set the Bar, & they have actually Complemented that & Reached even Greater heights, I give them a Solid 10 out of 10! Thanks TTB for all that You Do, & so dam Good At it!
Damn I love his playing
3 year's ago I flew to the states as my brother suffered from cancer. He died 5 hours after I sat by his bed. The next day his closest friend played me this track as an example of the music he would listen to. And he played slide guitar too. As I stood on the shore at Chatham where they fished, and listened to this tears ran down my face. It will always bring me memories of Mike, and of the kindness his friends showed me, a stranger in a foreign land lost In grief. Unknown guys buying me beers in Squires to numb my sadness. . Thanks guys I hope you got the beers I left in the pump for you before I flew home
So sorry for your loss , it's impossible to understand cancer. Glad this song brings you some healing. Are you from Leeds by chance?
@@allanbass2242 not from Leeds but a long suffering supporter of LUFC. Long story. Thanks for the kind words
That's very powerful I can feel the pain of the loss. I can feel the energy of those wanting to help and comfort. Your Dear Brother had excellent taste in music.
I’m sorry for your loss. That is one of the most beautifully written stories I have ever read. You should be a writer.
@@misterree1443 thank you sincerely. The residents of his adopted town were staggering in their kindness and sympathy. I will never forget
To the tools standing, read the room!
That band breathes together. Beautiful.
What I would give to be in a beach chair this close to TTB... these people sure got the show of their life...
And if those two guys up front woulda sat down... blocking everyone's view ...
Me too
I can't believe how few people are there
On LSd
Love her fond smile at him near the end. What a band.
Amazing band! The drummer and his ghost notes subconsciously fill the sound. killer musicianship!
Never get tired of this song!
Every once in awhile I listen to music and get moved to tears of joy of love for the sheer appreciation of great musicans... so thankful for TTB
Surprisingly good sound quality for an outdoor recording. Thanks for posting.
Definitely! Amazing actually.
Does not get any better than this!
Best slide player alive,RIP SKYDOG
I wish I had been there for this so open
Incredible thank you
Yeah, this song is like a drug to me.
Great song, looks like they're playing out in the neighbor's backyard! Yeah that was sweet.
Jacksonville's finest.
Thank you for sharing this.. Derek is great and has been onstage with the likes of Clapton and she is amazing. I know it was during the pandemic, but I hope this crowd knew what they whet able to experience. I only wish I could have been their in person.
The Goddess Susan!
Reminds me of Indian music. What a beautiful deep sincere musician. What a beautiful band and song. I'll be checking you out.
Derek Trucks talks in interviews (check out the one with Rick Beato) about listening to Indian music, not just sitar but another instrument, and reading Sufi poems. The whitest Indian classical musician 😉, and deep.
@@skierpage Sarod. He goes to the Ali Akbar school of music in San Rafael, California to learn.
Oh so Sublime
Go Derek GO
How could such a small group of people turn out to see Derek & Susan's band, WOW. Derek's guitar and Susan's voice are incredible. What a lucky group of people to be there that day.
The show was sold out. This was the venue’s method of social distancing. Tickets sold in blocks of 4, with marks drawn on the grass for our 6 x 8 foot rectangle . Seriously
Top drawer band. Beautiful mindblowing free flow interlocked beauty.
This is my first time hearing this band. Excellent!
Be sure to check out the Live in E-town version of this song...sublime...
Watch their NPR Tiny Desk concert! The band bleeds soul and commitment, the sound quality is great, and the transition into "Anyhow" is the greatest 90 seconds of live music I've heard in years.
Derek,is one of the best slide players I ever seem, he never plays the same solo just an amazing guitarist and Susan"s voice is just the perfect fit for such an incredible band her voice is just amazing. Great video and playing!!!
I agree. They are the perfect union of musical harmony.
I've listened to them separately but combined it's even more incredible. Their accompanying musicians are top notch as well. Haven't seen them live but will one day and watch Derek work his slide magic with my own eyes.
This is the pure soul of what music is
I used to think if a band didn't sound live like their recordings they weren't worth a sh*t. Now I seek out every live recording I can get my hands on of the bands I love. Derek offers a different take, musical ideas and expression in his solos in every live performance. Thanks UA-cam 😊
I don't know about the rest of you folk, but I'm looking up as many live performances of this song as I can find. So far the solos have been amazing, but this one in particular I find is so beautiful.
I have watched all the live performance solos as well and this particular solo, while all are unique, this one is longer at the climax of the demise if you will. The conversation that can be conjured when listening to the back and forth sounds of the slide, well, it sounds almost as if the guitar is pleading. What a real treat. This show was after a year and a half of no concerts because of mandates. I love the solo version of this performance, however I am biased since I was there.
One of my all time favourite live bands 👏👌 cannot believe such a small crowd 🤷♂️ but sure the band gave them everything 🎶 Class act
I heard the young crowd went to listen to bts, don't want to take away from those guys but this is art & that's performance & today performance has a greater demand but ttb is pure art.
Man what a band. Derek plays so deliberate and classy. Susan sings like angel. Such a great band !!and to see them at such a small setting. That crowd sure got a treat!!! 🌞🌞😃😃
I see Derek's been practicin
Wish you were here
A most beautiful band of Brothers and Sister. Thank you Dear Friends. I wish Jimi would of made it. He'd of been at home.
Incredible rhythm section. Just grooving this so hard. Just then perfect bed for the incredible solo. This is a band.
This is THE band.
Definitely an Electric guitar Wizard.
Few bands have the emotional effect that TTB have on me. Her voice and his slide and a match made in Heaven. Not to forget that Kybd players use of the Leslie All Top shelf.😁
It seems like someone is transmitting to us the feelings of deep meditation forth his fingers on the strings.
Well said.
Mesmerising beauty.
Derek's been learning Sarod and you can hear that influence in the beginning. It's wonderful to see a Hindustani feel from a slide guitar. He talks about it in his interview with Rick Beato.
Also, sorry to hear about your brother's passing. May his soul rest in peace.
Derek al legend….👌
WOW!!!
This is a great song, I enjoyed your story, even if it was very sad. So sorry for your loss. Thank goodness for the great music.
My Sissy sent this to my beautiful daughter and I in 2015 during our amazing escape. I was mopping a 6 story building for women and children of Domestic Violence. Our new-temporary home. I hadn't heard from her in a minute...I'll forever remember how not alone I felt from her reaching out and when I hit the play button Headphones in, cranked up..Love you Sissy. So cool/360°to have randomly seen you and da hubby at TTB 3 years later at the Count Basie Theater..The turn out from then to now was so worth the struggle to fight for what we deserve. Peace, Love, and Happiness. Thank you TTB and my Bruddahs..😎✌💋remember me..?🙃🤣🤪😘
Hell yes!
Goosebumps
My favourite. Good for them keeping it going with this small crowd. Pros.
Great band. We have tickets for this July!
Amazing!
What a talented band! Have seen them a couple of times and then DT as the DTB and ABB. Never a disappointment. Musical, energetic and classy. And Susan’s voice IS the blues!
I had never heard of this band. I like it. Thanks! Listening on Amazon now. That lady is exceptionally talented! Breath, pitch, phrasing, and quality- the whole package.
They are just amazing. Can't wait to see them in Manchester UK this year.
That was beautiful
The description of this performance is touching. So soulful. 💜🎸🎤🎶 RIP. And carry on.
Small gig for those guys to play at, great band, always so on it.
Good Lord; this is an incredible video!
Best song ever, the soul of this band is so bright and shiny.gets me every dang time, cry like a lil baby . ❤️
Omg. That always leaves me in a blubbering mess. Truely amazing. Thank you so much! x
Amazing, simply cannot get tired of this band, the voice, the musicianship. I am looking forward to seeing them here in the UK and Paris later this year. It’s been a long time coming…thanks for sharing
Great band with so much soul to their bones.
Down in front!
Outstanding!😎
Nice catch ! #Props
Derek is awesome and Susan is Janis Joplin reincarnated her voice is soulful pure soul I love when they look at each either you just nailed that look and they love what they do. Pure love and joy
Been following Tedeschi Trucks for almost 10 years now and it is so fine to see them in a recent concert sounding as good as ever. Lucky crowd to see them up close from a beach chair.........they usually play at large venues filled to the max!!
Saw them several times on summer “Wheels of Soul” tours. Always in smaller outdoor venues of under 3000 or so with lawn seating. Only way to go!
OMG derek reinvents the solo and the intro every time. What a genius. I have watched hundred of midnight in harlem version and everytime it is incredible. I have to say that this intro is probable my favorite Intro i have seen. Thanks for sharing the video !
These are musicians and this is a band that clearly does this for the absolute love of the craft, the music, each other and obviously the requited love of their adoring fans. I myself having been, since the very first time I was lucky enough to have laid ears upon the magic that is The Tedeschi Trucks Band! Further more such as the world refers to Eric Clapton as "Slowhand" I like to refer to Derek Trucks as "Nohand" as he absolutely makes his brand of magic look entirely effortless much like a magician's slight of hand. Though in this case I also jokingly say," the hand is slower than the eye". Thank you TTB!
Derek and Suzi brought me to the highest musical spirit I ever got !!!
John, No offence but you need to go back & listen to the original Allman Brothers , try the Fillmore East album then you'll know what musical spirit really is. Seems you missed the real 60s & early 70s .
@@paullevine1813 Indeed, I did... born in 62.
Brilliantly captured thank you
Dam I'm sorry I missed this...I'm not that far from here...this girl has soulfulllll voice..thanks susan
So Beautiful.
Wow, so few people! Would have loved to have been at this.
Incredible talent all around.
This small crowd got LUCKY …
Definitely
I just love this song.
Sitar intro transcendental..
Amazing
I love the light that you'll bring to this darkness of this world. Keep up the good work
simply beautiful ...
incredible slide solo
This is a small gig for such a high profile band!
Derek plays some of that same "intro phrasing" in Pasaquon... instrumental on their latest effort....
Awesome! Tonal intonation is spot on Derek...and your wife's vocals are impecable...an easily consumed absolute confection! A feast for ears guys...Ty so much!
It’s his sister
I would be dancing around like Woodstock seeing them like this...! Thanks
Groovy 😎
You got it all Mr Confer! Good shooting man! And TTB - hats off to you guys. Magic moments at the farm, totally excellent.
Many thanks for this!
Would loved to have been in that audience, up close & personal. I’ve been a fan of TTB for years before they got famous. Would have to say I think they’re one of the best bands out there now.
Thanks for sharing, how cool is the setup. I love these guys, great version of a classic song😍
Thank you for sharing, sublime sounds
Namaste to one and all...
This is 20 min from my house!!! Wtf! Wish I knew they were there.
