That's because Japanese radios operate at a lower MHz than what the western world uses, resulting in different broadcasting and sound quality. They went as far as to change the filter his voice had in the Japanese version to fit the way Japanese radios' MHz would cause sound to come out differently than anglosphere radios.

I guess they wanted to have the English voice more prominent over the radio filter, honestly an alternative could’ve been giving him a Transatlantic accent (or if he has one, make it more obvious) given that was the radio standard around the time given a carbon microphone made a regular voice sounding muffled and tinny. the JP version is how i first experienced hazbin and it deeply affected my affinity for it. i cannot understate how much better camilla sounds in this version -- her ENG voice actress doesn't even come close. the intensity of alastor's delivery is superb, and the way he speaks is much more reminiscent of old time radio with an injection of sounding like a goddamn ghost (to me). angel's VA is incredibly charming without the cheesy quality of the ENG. it's also so funny to contrast JP and ENG Lucifer. he sounds like an OLD MAN in JP. thank you for uploading these!

I like to think that whatever language someone can speak in Hell hears everyone else speak that language, so this could be what Nifty can hear, since i heard she's Japanese or can speak it.
Most of the songs suffer a bit from some awkward syllable counts in hitting the beats to the music, but the voice actors are killing it so they manage to emote past the occasional awkwardness with pure charm. Except for lucifer for some reason, whoever translated his dad song does an amazing job hitting the rythym without sacrificing meaning or flavor- but then his voice actor fails to match the energy :(
