One of my fav parts about Alastor, is that his filter just goes away occasionally, like at the end of some sentences. Helps to put emphasis on the words he says in said moments, as if he means them more. Also is just funny sometimes Same with his laugh at 5:46, just love it
What I love about Alastor is the fact that he always smiles. So the only way to know his expressions is his Eye movements. Being when he is annoyed he twitches, when he is mad his eyes turn red. These simple animation adds so much depth onto Alastor

Did anyone else notice alastor waited to make a deal with charlie when she was easiest emotionally manipulated, she was upset with vaggie and was experiencing too many emotions to process, so when alastor said he didnt want her soul there was nothing off about it to her because she was thinking about vaggie lying to her, experiencing shock, depression,anger,ect. I find it interesting that both times he made deals with them,he used the other to manipulate them into making a deal with him. Charlie didn't realize what he was doing but vaggie obviously did because he literally said " - or charlie can come back to nothing" Doesn't really get more obvious than that, but charlie doesn't know vaggie made a deal with alastor, wich could have been the same as Charlie's deal or a one time thing, but if it was a one time deal, than i can see vaggie being manipulated into making another deal with alastor getting tricked into selling her soul to alastor ( who would use charlie to manipulate her ) and then vaggie later blaming Charlie, leading to another bump in their relationship, wich might bring lute into the picture trying to get her to make a similar deal like adam tried to when he talked to her in the hotel room in heaven . They know about the similarities, but he wasn't made based on wendigos. They were aware of the lore and the fact he definitely has themes of it, but he's not made based on one.
Everything about Alastor is intoxicatingly good. His old-timey ways and radio voice, the constant smug smile, suave composure intermittently broken by the short moments where he's completely unhinged and showing he's much more sinister than face value, it's fucking great.
And i extra enjoy that he isn't depicted as "being stuck in the past" so to speak. He actually has knowledge of the growing technology. He just has strong opinions and preferences.
His song at 19:57 and his behavior during it leads me to believe that he _may_ lose his mind at some point in the series and go full villain mode on pretty much anyone that dares even look at him wrong. All the disrespect he's been getting lately combined with Husker reminding him that he _is not_ the one in control has got to be eating away at his composure. And that little line to Charlie feels like it's eluding to a bigger reveal at some point. "Just because you see a smile, don't think you know what's going on underneath." And he says how he smiles to feel like the one in control, when in fact, he is not.
this is such an intelligent theory/comment, though i want him to stay on the goofy evil side as much as the next person, i would be really impressed and fascinated and even excited to see what they do if they end up going down that route with his character. i think itd definitely give me a lot of respect for the writers because exploring that desperate, ‘insane’ mindset in a character is both difficult to pull off both tastefully and well, and an absolutely darkly gripping treat when done correctly. this comment is a really beautiful evaluation of his character thus far, and a well-written, gripping read!
Makes sense, it's crazy how despite constantly smiling, you're never lost when it comes to how Alastor feels. This smile portrays a desperate man on the verge of a complete breakdown, different from his usual playful, cunning and mischievous smile or his enraged "don't fuck with me" smile, as Alastor is typically confident in things going to plan, showing no fear or weakness, and so his one moment of emotional vulnerability is surprisingly scary because the guy's clearly a control freak. There's also the possibility that he's realizing he feels genuine empathy, something he views as weakness, and might not even comprehend what he's feeling, so as a result he's trying to double down on his evil, which could present an interesting inner conflict if he plans on trying to go against Charlie if she is the deal maker here.

Everything about this character is so perfect, his radio like voice works so well with his personality, the feedback makes him seem broken and twisted, and the fact that he always smiles makes him seem more insane, as if he believes everything will go his way, or finds every little disturbing thing so enjoying, but he still gives off a sophisticated vibe, like the confidence in what he says, almost making everything that comes out of his mouth is 100% absolute almost flawed though, the perfect combination of insanity and formality. IT'S BEAUTIFUL
The more you watch him, the more you can catch recognize his different emotions. He’s all smiles, but you can tell he’s mad by his eyes and by the way his lips snarl up sometimes. It’s interesting

As others have noted before me, he loves being the center of attention. When someone plays him off or is able to take the spotlight away, atleast without his permission, it rankles his ego. It hits even worse when it’s someone like Lucifer, who easily can punch above Alastor’s class. Thus Alastor goes after what he can to get back, in Lucifer’s case that being poking at the fact Alastor has/had a better relationship with Charlie then Lucifer did

Lucifer is confirmed the highest on the hell totem pole, and thus being the strongest we are aware of, especially when you consider his fight with Adam, one which Alastor lost btw, where Lucifer was simply dancing around Adam, making jokes between shapeshifting, only getting serious when Charlie was in danger. 2. I would like to draw attention to the fact Alastor only cursed 3 times in season one, that being towards Adam twice at the start and end of their fight, and at Lucifer after the later made fun of the hazben hotel name. I don’t think attacking her dad, even if he somehow survived, would endear him to her. B) I’m quite certain Alastor is aware of the power difference. He’s not dumb. C) He has only cursed 3 times in season 1. And I quote “Fuck you” to Lucifer, “End your Fucking Life” to Adam, and “Fuck” after his staff was broken. it's because the whole series is animated on twos and threes, but that particular shot has a new illustration on pretty much every frame. It feels so much smoother than any other shot because it *is* so much smoother than any other shot. There are literally more separate drawings per second than any other point in the show.

You know, im not completelly sure thats the same tower that was in the hotel? When Alastor goes there it just dosent seems like the same place, and there is jungle-like vegetation all over the tower, and even trough the floor, as if it was there for a while. Not to mention ALL those eyes that are all over the place. I think it might be the tower Alastor used before dissapearing 7 years before.

He may not see Charlie as a daughter as he says to taunt Lucifer, but I certainly think he cares about her. The way he told Mimzy to leave, how he talks about her to Rosie, even how he faced Adam head-on. It could just be more manipulation, sure, but it would be so much more interesting if it wasn’t.

All the disrespect he's been getting lately combined with Husker reminding him that he _is not_ the one in control has got to be eating away at his composure. And that little line to Charlie feels like it's eluding to a bigger reveal at some point. "Just because you see a smile, don't think you know what's going on underneath." And he says how he smiles to feel like the one in control, when in fact, he is not.
this is such an intelligent theory/comment, though i want him to stay on the goofy evil side as much as the next person, i would be really impressed and fascinated and even excited to see what they do if they end up going down that route with his character. i think itd definitely give me a lot of respect for the writers because exploring that desperate, ‘insane’ mindset in a character is both difficult to pull off both tastefully and well, and an absolutely darkly gripping treat when done correctly. this comment is a really beautiful evaluation of his character thus far, and a well-written, gripping read!
Makes sense, it's crazy how despite constantly smiling, you're never lost when it comes to how Alastor feels. This smile portrays a desperate man on the verge of a complete breakdown, different from his usual playful, cunning and mischievous smile or his enraged "don't fuck with me" smile, as Alastor is typically confident in things going to plan, showing no fear or weakness, and so his one moment of emotional vulnerability is surprisingly scary because the guy's clearly a control freak. There's also the possibility that he's realizing he feels genuine empathy, something he views as weakness, and might not even comprehend what he's feeling, so as a result he's trying to double down on his evil, which could present an interesting inner conflict if he plans on trying to go against Charlie if she is the deal maker here.

Lucifer is confirmed the highest on the hell totem pole, and thus being the strongest we are aware of, especially when you consider his fight with Adam, one which Alastor lost btw, where Lucifer was simply dancing around Adam, making jokes between shapeshifting, only getting serious when Charlie was in danger.

I would like to draw attention to the fact Alastor only cursed 3 times in season one, that being towards Adam twice at the start and end of their fight, and at Lucifer after the later made fun of the hazben hotel name. Now Alastor is smart, he isn’t gonna try to go one on one against Lucifer so openly in such a situation, thus he would go for other weak points, say Lucifer’s relationship with Charlie?

A) Alastor wants to manipulate Charlie. I don’t think attacking her dad, even if he somehow survived, would endear him to her.
B) I’m quite certain Alastor is aware of the power difference. He’s not dumb.
C) He has only cursed 3 times in season 1. And I quote “Fuck you” to Lucifer, “End your Fucking Life” to Adam, and “Fuck” after his staff was broken. His face, while smiling, very clearly expressed anger when he cursed at Lucifer
D) in his ending song, he mentioned pulling on all the strings, implying he aims to be a puppet master as soon as possible. While power and entertainment is certainly useful for him, I don’t think they’re his only goals.
E) Faaaaairly certain this is the first time you’ve seen me make a comment as I do not recognize you.
F) Again, Alastor is my favorite character of the cast.

Alastor is such an intriguing character. He’s obviously posed as a villain, but I wonder if he’s actually begun to care while he’s been at the hotel. He may not see Charlie as a daughter as he says to taunt Lucifer, but I certainly think he cares about her. The way he told Mimzy to leave, how he talks about her to Rosie, even how he faced Adam head-on. It could just be more manipulation, sure, but it would be so much more interesting if it wasn’t.
He probably cared for someone powerful enough to break his deal and free him, probably knowing that Charlie is "inexperienced" as he called her in the advertisement, there probably is a plan he has to use the "itty - bitty favour where you harm no one" to free himself

I feel like he was beginning to care for everyone, and then Adam nearly killing him reset all the progress. Something in the way he was unraveling during his little dirge at the end makes it feel like he's casting aside any compassion for them in order to free himself.
