@@SantoshiAtkare hey:) my bodyweight is 43kgs and I just wanna say that if you have more weight than someone else it doesn't necessarily make you more stronger than that person. If you keep on doing a movement consistently then you will become better at performing that movement over a period of time. So just stick to doing half pushups then gradually you will feel your strength increase, after that do pushup negatives..then maybe, you will be able to do a full push up. But keep in mind that (your goal may take time, but you will get there!)
I agree its almost impossible especially as a woman, to do a proper pushup when you are even 15 to 20 lds overweight. After all you are lifting your body weight!
Push-ups are one of my favourite exercises ever. There’s just something so satisfying(at least to me) about being able to go all the way down and come back up smoothly. I do them everyday. A total of 50 push-ups but spilt into sets. The maximum that I can do in one go without stopping is usually 15 but 20 on a good day. Being consistent with this, you will really start to see your body change. I don’t do any other forms of strengthening exercises just push-ups and my cardio daily and I’ve started to see my back, my abs, my chest and obviously my arms become so much more defined. It’s amazing.
Hi! Could you please share your cardio routine? I’m trying to get shredded and my routine doesn’t seem to be working, so could you please share the routine?
I see that you're really into push ups. Be careful though of training one set of muscles over a long period of time and neglecting the opposing muscles - the lats, biceps and rear delts in this case. This can lead to an imbalance and an increased risk of injury. For training the lats, biceps and rear delts, you could add inverted rows to your routine. I do those under a chair. It's pretty much the opposite of a push up.

Thank you sooooo much for saying how long it took you to do a push-up. It gives me hope. I used to be able to do them in the military and then depression kicked in and I gained almost 100lbs and am so out of shape
Try doing the pushups in a normal position, but instead of on your toes, you are on your knees. That reduced the weight quite a bit and it's easier to train coming back up
I have been trying to get this done for 6 months (attempting them twice a week). I started on an incline. I can do 5 now but just realized what my coach meant when he told me to try eccentric push-ups as well. I relate to each word in this video. The struggle, the progress, the mistakes. I'm determined to get more strength and get my form right rather than counting my progress in sets and numbers. Thank you Lucy.

I'm pretty new to the whole working out thing. I thought push ups were supposed to be really basic, easy stuff since my PE teacher in elementary school tried to get me to do them. I couldn't do it then, and I still can't do them now. My arms shake just holding myself up in position, let alone moving without landing on my face. It's great to hear that push ups are something to build up to, rather than something I should feel bad for not being able to do off the bat. I'm finally going to do a push up! I swear on my honor!! But maybe in a few months or so...

A timeline of months to get to a push-up is so much more doable for someone who struggles to do them and ends up hurting my back. Thanks to your first video I’ve been slowly losing weight built over a lifetime. I’m 5 months in and have another 5 months to goal. I think it’s time to work on the exercise component. Thanks for your inspiration.

I still have to get over the reality that not every one except myself is able to do a push up. I always thought I was just very bad in sports or weak or lazy. So many fitness tips, workout routines or instructors on YT incorporate pushups and it's super frustrating when you are following a workout, getting by just well and suddenly you need to do pushups and fail terribly. Thanks for talking about the reality of it. That it is quite common for not being able to do them right away and that it will take some training. My goal for this year is to finally do one correct one! I gladly will incorporate some of your tips in my workouts. Thank you!!
That is because you are stronger in the eccentric(negative pahse), than in the concentric(positive phase). So, if you performed a bicep curl, the concentric phase would be curling the dumbell/barbell towrds your shoulder, then the eccentric phase would be lowering the weight back to the start. If you tried to curl a heavier weight than you could handle, if a partner assisted you, you would be able to lower the weight under control even though you could not lifrt the weight up without assistance. With press ups, the eccentric phase comes first, so you can lower yourself down, but cant get back up. Try this, lower yourself down in perfect form, slowly(all the way down), then, put your knees down, press up, then bring your lower body up. Keep trying, you will get there.

Please can you follow this up with a video on push up progressions that you could start on once you’ve mastered form and strength for the standard push up
Thanks 👍🏻 I did 1/4 of a push up 10 times. Then I slowly progress into full push as I noticed I was able to go down little more and pick my self again. Your body lift itself up and down not really your arms.
That was super helpful! I always get discouraged because in fitness videos they always say "beginners can do push ups on theirs knees" and I feel like the biggest looser because I can't even do that. Thank you so much for explaining. Do you have tipps how to do planks?
For someone who is already kinda chronically tucked under at the pelvis I wouldn’t recommend trying to create it even more. I’m actually trying to recreate the natural lumbar curve. My lower back tends to be flatter. The best tip I am getting from this is seeing how to unshrug the shoulders so the arms will bend and chest can release.
I am 75 now. Three years ago I was in a terrible shape and my body was degrading fast due to age wear and not doing any exercise at all. One day I decided to change that and started guided training at the gym. Push ups was one of my challenges. It has taken me 2 .5 years to reach the floor and push back! One at a time and rest…. OK, does not sound great. But I did it. I am trying now to do reps, as many as posible… and keep progress as long as I can. My advise: fist, don’t let your body rot when you retire. Second, if you do, you can reverse the process and build up muscle. But do it early… otherwise it will take more time or you might miss the train! 😅
@@emmaburgess7535 mine tend to hurt for days after lifting a kilo of shopping in each hand...so very painful. It wasn't the same before and all the wrist exercises recommended for other people are supposed to make hypermobile wrists worse :/

I’m doing a “12-week push-up program” but I’ve started to think that this might be an unrealistic time frame for me. Unless the push-up police show up at my door in the near future, I think I’ll be happier if I set a new goal to have my first push-up in a year or less.

You are the sweetest and the most humble fitfluencer I have seen so far ❤
🥹 thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for this video! You get dircouraged so easily with all the people saying "I managed to do a push up within 3 weeks" and I'm like how?? Am I doing something wrong?? Almost a year sounds more reasonable, especially how my progress is going. 2023 will be the year I manage to do a push up.
This is the best video on how to do push ups for begginers. Thank you.
I am doing this over the weekend and I will update to see if I can get my first ever push-up!
Never had it explained like this. Thank you 🙏🏼
So excited to have discovered you! I've recently joined Calisthenics classes at my local women's gym and am loving the sessions so far. Your journey into Calisthenics has inspired me to embark on my own journey. Please keep posting and share your expertise and experiences as I would love to know how I can get better at it 😊👍❤
I was waiting for this ! Working on my pushups . This will help ALOT . Thank you sm!
It looks like my new adventure will be guided by your videos.
So excited
And thank you.
I got this video on my front page and omg lucy you look absolutely stunning
God bless yall !! Keep going on your journeys ❤️❤️
I've learn push up by doing upper body strength training and doing push up negatives and yoga and I'm proud of myself that I keep showing up. Back then I'm so unmotivated and lack motivation but I'm happy that I did not give up and I can do 8 reps max of Full Rom Push ups
Thanks Lucy for that great tutorial. Yes, push up are hard to master. Patience is the key. Alignment & control in the movement. 👍❤️
8-9 months!?! You have no idea how much better that makes me feel. I thought I was just doing something wrong. Most videos are like "Here do this, CoNgrAtS! U donE GuUd PuShUP" Thank you for helping me realize it doesnt mean I am a looser.
Fantastic video. I've not been very consistent due to wrist pain, but pushups is something I'm definitely looking to achieve. Thanks for the info and encouragement ❤️
I can do 100 push-ups but I still watched cuz I was curious. Awesome training tips, great quality video! Wish everyone the best of luck on their fitness journey!
Please can you follow this up with a video on push up progressions that you could start on once you’ve mastered form and strength for the standard push up
Your exellent explanation gave me proper knowledge .Now I learned how to use the angles of our body.Thank you so much 🙏🙏
Thanks 👍🏻
I did 1/4 of a push up 10 times. Then I slowly progress into full push as I noticed I was able to go down little more and pick my self again. Your body lift itself up and down not really your arms.
The dumbell tip for sore wrists is SO helpful! Thanks!
Amazing. Just in time when i finally got my first push up w knees :) thank you for sharing 🥰🌹
Nice explanation, what should the width be between the hands, please let us know. Thankyou!
Any tips on hypermobility of the wrists if they hurt?
I need this too…I always wonder why nobody else seems to have screaming wrists!!!!
@@emmaburgess7535 mine tend to hurt for days after lifting a kilo of shopping in each hand...so very painful. It wasn't the same before and all the wrist exercises recommended for other people are supposed to make hypermobile wrists worse :/
@@emmaburgess7535 Maybe using push ups bar can help with the pain. For me it was a life saver.
You have to strengthen your wrist with specific wrist training. Normally used for handstand.

The video is a bit dry but the informations gold. Fast forward to the exercise.
Or look for handstand training and use their warm up for the wrist.
Thanks so much! Amazing, clear instructions and tips on how to work your way up to the full thing! really helpful.
You’ve inspired me to keep working on my push ups. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for this clear and concise video and for the pep talk, which was much needed. I’m in my late fifties and have been on my push-up journey for about six weeks now. I’m doing a “12-week push-up program” but I’ve started to think that this might be an unrealistic time frame for me. Unless the push-up police show up at my door in the near future, I think I’ll be happier if I set a new goal to have my first push-up in a year or less.
Thank you for making this guide, Lucy! I'm about to start and I can already see how helpful this will be
this young lady do push up better than most guys...amazing 😊
i actually find that once we re close to exhaustion to change to the modified form is actually a really good idea to increase load . cuz ur body is already at that point where any extra little bit more work gives a lot of gains! as long as u do the right form still lol
I'm not good in push up so I hope this knowledge helps me to do it. Thank you!
Very nice explanation especially for beginners. Way to go!
Haha I've never done a pushup due to no upper body strength 😅 so I really appreciate this video
Same. I have strong glutes and legs and find lower body strength moves easy, but my chest is SO weak after years of bad posture and neglecting my upper body during workouts. I'm glad I'm not the only one!
So clear! Thanks for sharing!
This was so helpful!! Loved hearing your journey and the specific tips!
thank you sweet Lucy
Has been my goal for a whole year, my arms improved but I'm not able to do the full down movement yet 😢
This happen might be everyone 😯
@@tanishkasthings6291 I saw hydrid calisthenics said that you should be able to do 40 x 3 assisted push up on a higher surface before lower down to another, I can do 20 x 2 on my sink 🤣
But I'll keep working
Hey there. I accidentally learned how to do several pushups just by doing yoga every day. I was really weak before and couldn’t do a single push-up… then the first lockdown came and I started doing yoga for fun - after a month or so I gained so much strength in my upper body that I can do a lot of push-ups now.
@@laurafrey5372 oh! That's nice
I really enjoy yoga but only tried simple routines :)
Do you have any recommendations, pls?
@@sahtification I was and am really into Yoga With Adrienne… she has great videos to get a routine and just have some fun. If you want to die on the other hand I love Boho Beautiful - but she is not messing around 😂🥲
First UA-camr that doesn’t love me. But ill have a great day! Thank you Lucy and have a great day too. Wonderful video.
Super helpful!!! I've never quite understood how pushups work and how your hands go, but i think i understand now😻
The form is perfect! I will try to do that.
Great tips, thank you! I am quite into fitness and dancing but I am not very strong and would love to be able to do one push up! I'll use these tips 🥰
Thank you so much , that really helps me a lot , so I just did it yesterday , so now I know how to do it , so I'm still going to practice my push ups , thank you very much again love the video too.👌❤️💪
love everything about this video! so so helpful and motivating xx
Thank you sooooo much for this video! It’s really motivated me to on doing push ups again ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for the inspirational tutorial. It’s quite an eye opener. My next comment will be when I have done my first push-up. Wish me luck 🤞
Thanks for showing me that I have been doing it all wrong for over 2 or 3 years.
This is really a good start as I’m an incoming BS criminology and i want to get prepared physically.
Great advice that it’s a slow process otherwise no other tells this part. I’ve started and will see when I’m able to do push ups. Good tips thanks
You posted this video at the perfect time for me!
I have started doing some stair exercises. Will include your lessons in it!
Thank you Lucy ❣️
Love u always 😘
This video has made me realize I was way farther in my push-up then I realized rn I can do a half of one on tile, I have been doing wall and counter push ups for a few year bc I had seen my dad to it so it became a thing I did when I was bored. It’s gonna take a while till I can do a full one
RIGHT ON TIME THANK U
Thanks for this!
Pushups are my biggest struggle right now in (kick)boxing class and I'd already been working on incline exercises. But it's just so demotivating to be the only woman in the group that can't do them :(
I just put your tutorial while practicing pushups. Its quite hard but this video definitely helps :)
