In Dominican Republic we make pasteles en hoja with malanga, plantains & squash and we blend it and stuff with fillings & wrap in banana leaves. This food is definitely rooted in our African Heritage. The okra stew with peanut butter looks very yummy.

Rural African diets are often some of the healthiest in the world sometimes over 110g of fiber a day (its difficult to get even close to that on a normal whole food plant based diet) and nutrient packed. Unfortunately the health benefits are often offset by accidents, poverty and limited access to health care.
