I've got apple pie shine from before my husband died and that was 3 years ago. Still in fridge and still good. I use it for the liquid in cakes I make.

2 liters rootbeer, 2 fifths of vodka, 3 tbsp vanilla extract, 4 tbsp root beer extract, 2 cups sugar, and 1/2 cup brown sugar, 10 cups water. Mix everything but the booze. No heat needed, just stir to debubble and dissolve the sugars. Add the booze, stir, and then fill the jars.

Shoot, if you heat the lids, it might seal. Even if it doesn't it's got enough alcohol in it it won't go bad... 😂

I've made root beer vodka. Buy a bag of root beer hard candy. Unwrap the candy and let dissolve in a bottle of vodka. Put a shot of the vodka in a glass of root beer. Add a scoop of ice cream if desired.

I am wondering if you heat the sugar and water then cool (make day before) if it would mix together better. Have you ever done it that way? Is that vodka expensive and do they make lower grades of it?

We grew up making homemade root beer. We would make it then have to wait 2 months for it ! It was the easiest, just yeast, sugar, water and root beer extract. It tastes better than any root beer you can buy. One year, we started hearing explosions, ran down to the basement to find the bottles were exploding ! Talk about a mess…. Besides all the broken glass, that was a sticky mess. But it did not deter us.

As someone who actually makes moonshine and drinks real moonshine, you can tell it’s not just by tasting it.
