🤣 Nope, no harmonica - that's Adam Rupp playing the "nomonica". Their harmonies are the best! Three of the boys are from the south - Tim (bass) is from Texas, Austin (high tenor) is from Georgia, and Chance (baritone/bass) is from Alabama. Thanks Debbie. 🍟
Yes, and Adam Chance, or just "Chance", is from Alabama, somewhere near to where this video was filmed. He has a video on YT giving a tour of the homestead. Chance also does the impersonation of the mouth harp using overtone singing. He has it on loop because he said it hurts his voice to do it too much. Thanks!
@@thequestionqueens If you check out the Home Free Sea Shanty medley, you'll also get to hear Adam Rupp perform the "castaNOTs", imitating castanets. ua-cam.com/video/lLGLUSzzuWU/v-deo.html
This song blew me away when I first heard it & I was completely hooked. These guys are all so talented. They lean towards country but they can do any genre. They all can take the lead depending on whos voice is best for the song. They are known for their tight harmonies. Tim Foust is one of the best bass singers out there & their beatboxer vocal percussionist Adam Rupp can simulate any sound. This song is very old & is done in the bluegrass country style. It was used in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" starring George Clooney.
Adam Rupp (beatboxer) and Rob Lundquist (bearded tenor) are from Minnesota where the band was originally founded. The rest are southerners: Austin Brown (high tenor) from Tifton, GA; Adam Chance (bass, baritone) from Mobile, AL; and Tim Foust (bass) from Texas. Home Free fans are "Home Fries" and most of us are likely Pentaholics as well. Alan--Nightwish Army, Atlanta Division at your service...Breathe, Debbie!...Breathe!
I love your reactions to Home Free. The pure and utter joy that you get from their music is all over your face. You never stop smiling and laughing from the happiness that their music brings to all of us. Keep the Home Free reactions coming.
We just saw them live in fort Smith Arkansas on March 1st. Had a wonderful time. They are as wonderful live as they are in the videos. You will be busy a very long time going through their video catalog. Check out the collaborations with Kenny Rogers, Lee Greenwood, oak ridge boys, Alabama, and Don McLean.
Your journey down this deep rabbit hole just begun LOL. Adam the beat boxer has been a 2 time beat boxing champion. Austin has a solo YT channel and his voice is awesome. You'll have enough material to keep you busy for a long time with just the accapella groups when you add Voiceplay and Voctave LOL
Tim (bass) is from Texas.. Austin brown (high tenor) I think is from Georgia.. Rob Lundquist (lead tenor) is from Minnesota.. Adam Rupp (beat master 3000) is from Minnesota.. Adam Chance (baritone/bass) is from I think Alabama but if I remember right he currently resides in California.
Tim, the bass, is from Texas, Austin, the first singer, is from Georgia, Adam Chance (Chance), the one making the jaw harp sound, is from Alabama, Rob, the second singer and Adam Rupp, the one making the harmonica sound, are both from Minnesota. By the way, I have family living in Pikeville, Logan, and near Lexington. None of them are musically inclined, though
The guy that does the beat boxing and the guy with the glasses are from Minnesota. The guy with the deep voice is from Texas. The one who done most of the singing is from Georgia and the guy that done the jaw harp is from Alabama. Thanks
Stop apologizing for pausing to comment about the music. That is what good reactors do. So is backing up to hear something again as many times as you need to. Those who do not like it can just go watch the official video instead. Love your videos and reactions.
Adam Rupp who is the beat boxer for Home Free is a 2-time World Champion beat boxer! There is a great video showing his live performance called "Adam Rupp's Drum Solo from 2015" that sounds like Adam swallowed a drum set and also swallowed a sound mixing machine! There are also some more recent videos of Adam Rupp's "drum" solos but the 2015 is my favorite that show cases the beat boxing the best in my opinion.
There are a few songs where instruments are used, but it’s usually when they have a guest and you’ll be able to see the instruments, too. Probably 99% is a cappella, this one definitely is.. Adam is amazing! 👍 My first breath was taken in the Blue Grass state. 👍♥️
as for where they are from. The band was formed in Minnesota in 2000 by the Rupp brothers, Chris who has since moved on to a solo career in 2015 and his beatboxing brother Adam, who is still in the band. The 5 members are Adam Rupp the above mentioned beatboxer, from Minnesota, Adam Chance from Alabama, Rob Lundquist from Minnesota, Austin Brown from Georgia and Tim Foust from Texas. The band didn't originally sing mostly country but in 2013 when auditioning for the Sing-Off TV show, the producers "suggested" they sinnify as a "Country acapella" band....and yes they won the 4th an last season of the TV show, and they stuck by being a country-leaning vocal band, and it's worked out pretty well for them
That little riff Rob does just before the end is my favorite, too. Pausing is fine, just back up a bit before restarting. You really MUST do When A Man Loves A Woman as your next from them. ua-cam.com/video/-pygPmfGQvU/v-deo.html
It’s so good. Austin (lead here) is from Georgia. Tim (bass) is from Texas. Chance (back left of video) is from Alabama. Rob (glasses) and Adam (beatboxer) are from Minnesota. Chance was doing the mouth harp. Adam was doing drums, harmonica and other sounds. Tim, the bass, has a 5 octave range and can sing super low and then sing up with the tenors. They are all amazingly talented.
Adam is playing the nomonica. Great reaction. These country boys are the best. Next is the "Butts Remix". You will need your tissues, but it will be tears of laughter.
Love your reaction. Austin's southern accent is so strong that Tim, who is from Texas, had to interpret what Austin said to the two from Minnesota. They couldn't understand what Austin was saying.
So...I think you are a Penta- Fry now. 😅 I just love your reactions and don't worry about pausing...us Home Fries expect it! They are known for creating atmospheres with the songs and walls of sound. The harmonies are so tight, they give me chills! Plus, they have a great sense of humor. They don't take themselves too seriously and you will see that in their videos. Yes, Austin's accent is a lovely thick Georgia accent but we love it! Tim's is not as thick definitely there. Chance's is less pronounced but it pops out from time to time. Rob and Adam really don't have an accent unless they want to play it up.
Lol just knew you had to pause this one multiple times once you realized that wasn't a harmonica. Think you are ready for Butts Medley to see their sense of humor Oh and the two tenors Austin and Rob can completely shed their southern accent and sing the opera song Nessun Dorma together
You should try reacting to Home Free doing "American Pie" with the actual Don McLean. It brought a tear to my old crusty heart as a man of the 70's. Don's voice is still perfect. Done during the pandemic so it's interesting how they edited all the individual singers videos. ua-cam.com/video/9RlTZdYXcKg/v-deo.html
Debbie, if you want to hear the harmonica sound from Adam Rupp, check out their UA-cam video of Garth Brooks' song, "Ain't Goin' Down Til The Sun Comes Up"! They released their video version on UA-cam but the one that isn't their UA-cam release is only an audio version. Welcome to the world of Home Free!
As others have said, Tim Foust was born in Texas. He now lives in Nashville where Austin Brown, who was born in Georgia, lives as well. Adam Chance was born in Alabama but lives in LA now. Both Adam Rupp and Rob Lundquist are from Minnesota. Adam Rupp and his brother Chris began Home Free in Austin Minnesota. Their producer is also based in Minnesota (though I believe they might have a studio in Nashville as well).
And now, hopefully, you are a Home Fry....BTW there is nothing wrong with pausing....as long as you go back a few seconds before starting again....we love to hear reactions....

If you're from Kentucky, you should recognize the sound of the Jaw Harp, done by Adam Chance (their baritone). The guy with the glasses, Rob Lundquist is from Minneapolis, Minnesota.
You referred to yourself as a "Pentaholic". Well, (if you're not already there) you're becoming a "Home Fry". You should check out their cover of "Try Everything" from the movie "Zootopia". Also, a couple of suggestions for their fun side, "All About That Bass", "Butts Remix", and "Meant To Be".
BEAUTIFUL REACTION! …. However, this is actually a very sad, sorrowful song. First recorded around 1910 or so, you will hear them refer to “that northern railroad “. Originally called the “Goodbye Song”, or sometimes “The Farewell Song”, it is the song of a slave bidding farewell to all he knows and loves before running for freedom. Thank you for recognizing a Jews Harp at the fade in and fade out, and yes, pure voice, no instruments.
Tim is from Texas, Austin is from Georgia and Chance is from Alabama. Rob and Adam are from Minnesota. We call that a nomonica😂 Chance is making the sound of a mouth harp. Welcome to the Home fries. My family came from Kentucky and Alabama. Some moved to Arkansas so we're looking for those who stayed behind
go right ahead and pause/rewind. Go ahead and freak out - we love to see new people fall into the HF rabbit hole. And I STILL occasionally have to remind myself that there are no instruments. I was sort of listening one day and in my mind I said, "that was a lovely orchestral swell before the voices came back in - oh, yeah, no instruments" I don't know if Adam does spoons, but he does do castanets which sound sort of like spoons. HF has videos that range from hard country to 80's pop. Sacred to profane, somber to hilarious. They have a few that are 5 part harmonies where Adam sings instead of beatboxing - gorgeous. Enjoy!
What a great reaction! I love your expressions. It's fine to pause when something strikes you. Lots of opportunities for that with these guys. They fill up my happy tank, too. I suggest The Driver (ua-cam.com/video/6ElHDO-yeXE/v-deo.html), How Great Thou Art (ua-cam.com/video/tXQpDDcrN-w/v-deo.html) or I Can't Outrun You (ua-cam.com/video/cgBYNQBHK8o/v-deo.html). For a good look at Adam Rupp's percussion abilities, try one of his live drum solos, such as this one ua-cam.com/video/pZz6uhEzSSY/v-deo.html. Enjoy the ride.
3 of them are from the south and 2 from the north. Tim is from Texas, Chance is from Alabama, Austin is from Georgia. Bot Rob and Adam is from Minnesota. Also Adams brother, Chris (who founded the group with Adam) that you haven't really seen yet is also from Minnesota.
3 of the 5 guys grew up in the south. The group actually started up in Minnesota and 2 of the members still live there. The beatboxer Adam and his brother Chris started the group in High school /college. Chris left the group in 2016 about the same time as Avi left PTX. If you have viewed Pentatonix on the show "The Sing-Off" season 3, (they won it). Check out Home Free on videos of Sing-Off Season 4 (They won it), both groups know each other and Avi has appeared in a couple of Home Free videos too. Ring Of Fire and Champagne Taste On A Beer Budget (Tim the bass wrote that song). Lots to see, keep going down the rabbit hole. Howdy! I'm from your neighboring state Virginia.
Yes Mam 3 out of 5 boys are from the south Tim the bass is from south Texas Austin is from south Georgria and Chance is from Florida and Alabama and Adam and Rob are from Minnesota great reaction I hope this helps.

Austin Brown, the lead singer of this song, is from south Georgia. Tim describes Austin as country as corn bread. Austin now lives in Nashville. Rob Lundquist , the guy with the beard and glasses, is from Minneapolis, Minnesota. He still lives in Minnesota. Adam Rupp the beat boxer, originated from Minnesota where he still lives. Tim Foust who is the bass singer is from southern Texas. He now resides in Nashville. Adam Chance, known as Chance, is originally from Alabama. He now lives in LA. All the guys are now married except for Austin Austin, the youngest member, has a girlfriend that he lives with in his house.
When Home Free tried out for the show, The Sing-Off, they happened to sing country music. The show said. "We haven't had a country group on before" so that is how they started singing country music, but they can sing ANYTHING!!! I especially love it when they are goofy.
I cannot WAIT until she reacts to "The Butts Remix" Her freak out should be EPIC!
Yup, with that you get all the rap, rock, and country in one.
YES!!!! LOL
The Butts and then immediately followed up by Austin and Rob with Nessun Dorma. The shock factor will be great to see.
