HERE'S A MONEY SAVER: My wood stove has secondary burner tubes with baffle boards and a ceramic blanket on top. The original baffle boards cracked after two seasons. I couldn't believe how expensive they are to replace, so I looked for an alternative. I bought a 4x8 sheet of HardiBoard 500 and made new baffles. They worked perfectly and lasted two years (about a dozen cords) and only cost about 75 cents each! So each season, I replace the baffles and clean the ceramic blanket. Problem solved.

Thank you for the suggestion. Doubt the fire rating is as high, but I use Hardiboard for my base upon which we have our other woodstove.

Thank you for sharing. Does not seem nearly as intimidating a task now.😊

I got a baffle board and an instruction sheet from my HearthStone local vendor from whom I had purchased the stove. I tried two years in a row to follow the instructions, but nothing made sense.
This video has saved the day. Not only did I have the wrong instructions, I also had the wrong baffle.
I ended up removing the top via two 10-mm nuts. I cut a cardboard template that fit. I cut down the baffle that they gave me (fortunately it was for a larger model).
Now my baffle is installed and as good as new thanks to this video!

Worked great. Tubes took some jiggling to get out. My stove also had a cotter pin on the diverter & front tube that needed to be removed. Baffle was easy to cut, took about 8 passes of my utility knife. I didn't use the chisel to knock the old cement off at first & had to remove the baffle again & do this step. Not too difficult- a headlamp helped alot. Great video!

This video is good for baffle replacement. What about when air tubes fall down easily in a Clydesdale? Thanks

(HUG) We have a hearthstone sterling (DV) propane - pilot will not stay lit, do you have a video on replacing the thermocouple and how much the (thermocouple costs? Can you show where the thermocouple is located. Love your video.

This does not work on the Equinox. I had to remove the front baffle bracket by removing cotter pins. Then I removed the front two secondary air tubes. Very tight but spun with lockjaw pliers to loosen. Then you can slide to the right to temporarily remove. You can take it from there. Gary

I own a hearthstone wood burner with the square stone top, do I need to remove the top or just replace from the inside? Thanks in advance.

Really irritating that it's impossible to clean the chimney above the heritage without removing the baffle first. We've removed the baffle and not put it back. What is it actually made of? Was suspecting asbestos.

Wow the Clydesdale is a pain in the butt. Broke 3 bolts and I can’t get any leverage to get those top brackets loose. Stuck

Ridiculously overly engineered. The 1st one is typical. Most stoves are engineered this way. Simple and efficient. Done in a minute. I should know, i cleaned and swept stoves n flues for years. I saw em all. Don't engineers have better things to do than make our lives more needlessly difficult ?
