How often should this baffle be replaced in the Heritage model? I have had my Heritage for 5 years and love it!

Sir I would love to have question answered I have a heritage I'm not sure what model when I look up inside it has fire bricks an like a blanket on top of them. the blanket looks bad. All torn up. I just bought the house an I just can't seem to get my stove surface higher than 300 degrees. I don't know what I'm doing wrong or if its the stove.

It is no the same for a Homestead. The homestead is installed in two pieces. If you order the baffle through your nearest dealer the instruction will com with it. You can also reach our customer service via email to recieve the instructions: cservice@hearthstonestoves[dot]com
You can locate a dealer near you on our website under "Dealer Locator".

Why didn't they make a cast-iron deflector? There would be more heat inside the room and it would have a much longer lifespan

The material selected for the baffle is designed to do very specific things for the combustion process. Cast iron does not offer the needed properties. Thanks for the question!

@@hearthstonestoves Ok. Why is there a cast-iron deflector in the woodbox Nestor Martin?

I wound up with a friends old Hearthstone. It is a Harvest I believe. It is hard to tell for sure what model it is 100%.
Single glass door, metal back, cat and looks almost exactly like a Heritage from the front.
The rear heat shield was missing. Any Idea what thickness metal it was made from so I can make a replacement?
One of the most beautiful stoves ever made. Like a work of art that heats your home.
Hearthstone should make a one hour video of a nice burning fire, kind of like a yule log video, for people to watch.

What about the air inlet problem my equinox the air inlet jams if you open the air inlet all the way you can't close it easily and if you close it all the way you can't open it easily have you guys figured something out on that?

    • @MrMaypo59
      @MrMaypo59 10 років тому +1

Nathan, On our original Homestead, we had an air control that would jam/hang badly. I looked underneath and found it was just a little slider, 4 screws got the assemby off and 30 seconds with a pair of pliers had it straitened out and working perfectly. It was a small bit of flat stock linkage that had gotten bent.

I have a Hearthstone Heritage and probably would never buy a Hearthstone again simply because of terrible customer service. They don’t even have a phone number for customers. My dealer shut down so now a dealer is over 200 miles from me. I think there stoves are nice looking but terribly over-priced. You can’t even buy spare parts from the factory. You have to go through a dealer. I am starting the process shopping around to buy a new stove.

For the Craftsbury portion of this video, I can't see 'why' the baffle support bracket that you removed in this video 'needs' to be removed? I'm trying to change the baffle in my Craftsbury, and the 'support bracket' has a phillips head screw on one side (it's rusted & frozen, & I'm soaking it now with penetrating oil) and the other side where there 'should' be another phillips head screw, there is a bolt instead of a screw, and it's NOT EVEN thru the 'Bracket Support' as it's underneath the hole, and there's nothing securing the left hand side of the 'support bracket'. Has anybody done a baffle replacement on their CRAFTSBURY that can confirm what I'm thinking, please? (That removing the 'support bracket' isn't necessary)

What a shame. So over engineered. I have several years of flue n stove sweeping experience. I know wood stoves. Baffles should be able to lift at an angle, then slid straight out. Most expensive and cheap stoves are built in this manner. If you ever replace your stove, look for such a design, not an unnecessarily overly engineered one. The stoves with fire brick, or a type of fiber board baffles are just as efficient, and far easier to sweep the top of your baffles. A 60 sec. job at most. Sorry i can't help you, i have seen few stoves that have such needless complexity in their baffle systems.

@@livefreeordie5534 Thanks AJ, Since I couldn't get the frozen screw removed to take out the bracket, I went ahead and replaced the Baffle w/o removing the support bracket. This was my first ever wood stove purchase, and it might last me the rest of my life, or at least in my current home almost for certain. If I ever buy a wood stove again, I'll know better how to shop for my next stove. This one (Craftsbury) has been good overall, but I'll look for some of the features you mention if/when I'm in the market for a new one.

@@johnpaulrevere5554 I'm glad you figured it out. Yes, such stoves will produce plenty of heat, most do. However, too bad some are such a pain in the neck to maintain. Also, it's not necessarily the make, but the model with difficult baffles. They should "stick to the basics" as they say. BTW, my living room is 84 degrees on this cold 30 degree New England evening. Love my basic wood stove. Happy burning.

I replaced the deflector on my craftsbury and built one of cast iron. it will last my whole life. I put rock wool over the deflector to keep the combustion chamber warmer, and now I have a perfect stove. I have more heat in the combustion chamber and more dancing flames. If you want I can give you explanations.I put several videos of my stove on youtube.

Apparently the baffle is not heat resistant enough if it breaking up like that and need replacing ? I will stick with my steel baffle 4 years and still going strong with no issues ! That item must be a money making schemes !
