Really useful. Thank you!
Thanks for your comment. It is really easy to do, and the kit only costs around £10
Really useful advise Steve xx
Thanks 😊
Is there a difference between the gasket used for woodburning stoves and oil burning stoves? Can i use gaskets made for wood burning stoves, for an oil burning stoves?
Im not sure, i would think the gaskets would be different as the wood burning stove is just a rope!
Really good video, do you need to use all of the glue?
Hi, the kit i used has 2 meters of stove gasket rope, and the glue is designed to fix that amount of rope. I did have some leftover, but it wouldn't matter if you used all of the glue.
@@FixitwithFowlerok thanks for that information 👍
No problem 😊 ☺️
these ropes come in differing thicknesses, how do you know what is correct & also it seems differing temperature grades, same question. Great demo of the application, thx
I measured the old rope and also the recess in the door to get the size. I wasn't aware of different temperatures as I always use victas kits like this amzn.to/3vqmkM6
@@FixitwithFowler thank you. Mine is 15mm but I notice some kits have more of a rope style others have a flatter tape, are these different or does the rope flateen?
@stevekingswell9143 The flat ropes are normally for around the glass on the doors.
Interesting video. Other videos on the same subject all mention the two varieties of rope, hard and soft. Also, everyone else tapes up the ends of the rope to avoid fraying. Are these two things not important?
Hi, i am unaware of such a thing as hard rope and soft rope. I did tape the ends of the rope, but unfortunately, the tape wasn't very good, so i sealed the ends with adhesive. Glad you liked the video!
My only criticism "from Amazon" not all of us like Amazon and they don't need free advertising
Thanks for your comment, i personally use Amazon for things like this as our nearest stove shop is over 30 mins away.
@@FixitwithFowler I think I can do the task from watching the video and it's surprisingly hard to find quick concise instructional videos like this
Hi, it's a bit awkward if you can't remove the stove door, but using a bit of tape helps loads. If you can remove the stove door, then replacing the rope gasket is really! easy
