Tip from the automotive world; when installing bearings, you can use a very large socket (i.e. the same outside diameter as the bearing being installed) to hammer them in. It ensures that they seat nice and straight and reduces the risk of damaging the ball races. Very helpful video; I've got a WIL103 that I will be getting new bearings for sometime in the near future.
It should be easy to replace bearings on a washing machine....unfortunately the manufacturers, including Indesit, now use a fused drum that cannot be separated to access the bearings. So for the sake of a part that would cost £10 to replace, the whole appliance is now thrown out. Washing machine manufacturers often use the term 'environmentally friendly' to sell their machines, but in reality they are disposable environmental catastrophes. Good video though...concise and excellently made.

Video is very well done apart from when you used an metal hammer to hit the bearing race you shouldn't do that you should only use a copper hammer or a bearing insert tool which is aluminium an also shouldn't hit a bearing with any type of chisel either bearings are case hardened an hitting them with anything hard metal can cause them to crack/fracture so soft copper hammer or aluminium bearing tools only

I have IWE91281, the butterfly was broken and i managed to reach it as the drum is sealed and after fixing i closed the tub with sealcone gasket maker and tight with rough screws , the problem im facing now the machine is not turning on....pls can you help for advise

Nice job. Unfortunately, I think I've just discovered that my machine IWB 5123 has a sealed unit drum. So the bearings aren't accessible. And I guess I can't replace it with a different drum.

hi, i have a iwb71250 and the outer drum is a sealed unit with no screws to take it apart, is it still possible to replace the bearings?

very bad design then due to it costing £115, i just cant afford that sort of money. i'm not taking it out on yous i'm just grinding gears
david north i know there a hell of a price. they should allow all machines to be able to fit new bearings
even if the spider and the bearing need changing it wouldnt cost that much. im gonna see if it can be done by cutting with a dremmel and use seal and screws to fut it back together

hi my indesit is quit old now and its looks like the bearings are housed on the outside of the outer drum in like a spider bolted to the outside im thinking i could change the bearings without taking the drum out model number indesit wdg1195w can anyone offer me any help on this thanks
WIL 85 EX TE Y - tub has no screws, it's molded into one piece and the bearings are pressed into the tub.

Hitting bearings with brick chisel and ball-pein hammer? Just use the old bearing on top of the new, carefully making sure new bearing goes in level and straight.
I have a IWE 81681 ECO (UK) i can't find any bearings anywhere guessing its a sealed unit

Do you know - how to reset an Indesit witp 102 - whashing machine? Had a doorswitch issue b4 and now with the new switch it does not work after turn on. All the LEDs flash up then the Lock LED comes on constantly.

our one hasn't!!! it just needs bearings!.
Still got our WD10UK - must be over 20 years old! Bearings have just gone for the 2nd time. Part ordered - hopefully will be able to replace them again and get another 5 years or so out of it :)
