    It's soo tempting to start relaxing my hair again. Your hair is so beautiful and whatever you're doing you need to keep doing it. Can't wait for my hair to get to your length, natural or not.

    im so glad i found your channel! i have recently been making some lifestyle changes and that includes my beautiful relaxed hair! i have been finding it so offensive how 'natural hair' is always best. because i have been receiving relaxers since i was a child and people ALWAYS complimented my hair.i just want to show people that relaxed hair can be healthy and grow long!

      It can never be healthy using something that breaks down the "natural" state of your hair, its just keratin and elastin which can be easily damaged by chemicals....
      Relaxers is not only bad for your hair its bad for the brain underneath....A certain amount will enter your bloodstream via the scalp.ASK ANY CHEMIST i.e scientist.
      But yes it it your choice to use it.

    • @ESSNTL
      @ESSNTL  7 років тому

      I don't grease my scalp that often but I have dry, itchy scalp as well. I deep condition regularly and when my scalp is really dry, I'll do a hot oil treatment. Since I wash my hair once a week, I don't get dry scalp that often anymore.

      +Denilse Vasconcelos you're probably using a moisturizer or oil that is too greasy for your hair. Make sure the moisturizer/leave in conditioner is water based and the oil you use to seal is light and absorbant

      @ESSNTL  8 років тому

      I normally moisturize and seal on an "as-needed" basis. When my hair is feeling dry or when I'm wearing a protective style that doesnt require heat, I'll do it then. I don't do it every single day/night.

    • @ESSNTL
      @ESSNTL  8 років тому

      +Sandria Walker the leave-in conditioner is my choice of moisturizer. You can use any moisturizer you like. I chose this leave in conditioner because it is light weight and water-based and absorbs into my hair without weighing down and feeling heavy.

      I'm guessing the lack of moisture is why I was experiencing MAJOR static in my hair? And I did see a lil bit of hair in sink because it was dry!
      I moisturizer and sealed last night; ends feel and look much better. However, I have to be extra careful about moisturizing because my hair easily gets weighed down. I prefer the more flow-y look after flat intoning.
      Any suggestions on how to make sure it's doesn't get weighed down?

      I like how moisturizing Eden's Natural Leave-In is but it might be to heavy for my transitioning hair even when I straighten it. I will give the Aphogee a try. Good question!

    Do you grease your scalp?

    • @ESSNTL
      @ESSNTL  8 років тому

      no I don't normally grease my scalp unless its really dry. I don't like my hair being greasy or weighed down so if its really dry, I'll just wash it and deep condition it.

    • @ESSNTL

      no, because I'm relaxed so my hair doesn't curl that much after moisturizing. But when I moisturize, I never completely saturate the hair.

    This is very helpful, thank you! I am starting again with a healthy relaxer journey and recently had my hair cut into a short bob. My hair is not long enough to reach all the way around my head; do you have any tips on how to wrap it? X

    • @ESSNTL
      @ESSNTL  8 років тому +1

      +Cerys Anderson try using bobby pins or smooth hair clips to keep your hair in place. I also use a scarf and a bonnet to make sure my hair stays wrapped throughout the night. Let me know if this helps! And thanks for watching!

    does your hair feel ''wet'' after putting the leave in? my hair hates water so im scared it will get crunchy and revert after using the leave in.

    • @ESSNTL
      @ESSNTL  8 років тому +1

      Are you natural or relaxed? I try not to put too much on my hair so that it doesn't feel wet. Just enough to moisturize it. And sealing it with the oil helps too. Although I've never had a problem with my hair reverting because I'm already relaxed/texlaxed so my hair stays pretty straight.

    • @nao1163
      @nao1163 8 років тому

      im relaxed as well.whenever water touches my hair it goes ham lol so that's y i was asking. also is there a reason why you only moisturize the ends as oppose to to starting closer to the roots? thank you for your help! :)

    • @ESSNTL
      @ESSNTL  8 років тому +4

      No problem! So I don't like my hair weighed down with a lot of oils so I only seal the ends of my hair, as they are the oldest parts of the hair and are more prone to breakage. The root of my hair is already moisturized from the natural oils coming from my scalp. If my scalp ever gets dry, I wash my hair and deep condition. I don't like putting oil on my roots.

    • @nao1163
      @nao1163 8 років тому +1

    • @ESSNTL
      @ESSNTL  8 років тому

      +Kyla Thomas no I don't usually grease my scalp because I feel the oil weighs my hair down a lot. I do have a naturally dry scalp so I keep my roots and scalp moisturized when I deep condition.

    How often should you moisturize and seal your hair??

    • @ESSNTL
      @ESSNTL  8 років тому +1

      +Chelsea D it depends on the style I'm wearing. If I'm wearing a braid out or a heatless style, I moisturize and seal every night. If my hair is straight or in curls, I moisturize and seal maybe 2-3 times a week (every other night or every two nights)-- just to keep my hair light and bouncy so I don't weigh it down with the moisturizer.
