Bought my M3RWD in December and have put 5,000 miles on it already. Next month I'm driving it to Florida (about 600 miles), then in June I'm driving it to Tucson, AZ, (about 2200 miles). I'm going to have a lot of experience in road tripping by the time summer gets here!
A lot of great memories to reflect back on when you done :) safe travels!
The new LFP battery can be charged to 100% with no problems a few times a week. The screen reminds you that regenerative braking will not be available until the battery drops down a few %.
Great video! I’m taking my M3LR on her first road trip tomorrow round trip 640 miles GA to SC and back. Can’t wait. The more I watch videos like yours, the more empowered and knowledgeable I feel. Thanks so much for the great content! *Had NO IDEA about camp mode!
Thank you! Safe travels! Let me know if you have any questions.
Keep up the great informative content! You post videos that current owners or potential owners (like me) who find these videos helpful. I like the fact you mention information that most people wouldn't mention/post on videos. Once again, we appreciate it!
Thank you! I’m glad you find it to be helpful!
Nice video. Very helpful for my trip to NH next week. Thank you for taking the tome to do it!
My pleasure! Safe travels!
👍 Thanks for the video, very useful
My pleasure!
Appreciate the content enjoy the channel
Thank you!
About to take a road trip next week...came back to ur video to ensure my knowledge is up to par.
Safe travels!! :)
Great video
Thank you!
nothing better then a tesla road trip
That’s right! :)
Thank you so much MG! Would you be able to share what bedding you use for camping set up?
Thank you Robert. Yes, it’s the Nugget. Here is the link. nuggetcomfort.com/products/the-nugget. I also did another video that’s on my channel which will give you a closer look at the setup. Let me know if you have any questions.
@@MonsterGadgets Thank you!
My pleasure!
Nice video.
Thanks!
Great info. I will be taking delivery next month for M3LR. In regards of using AP, I read a lot about phantom braking. Have you experienced with phantom braking issues?
Thank you! And congrats! It’s happened a few times but you of course have to stay alert and be ready to take over
I would suggest cruise control would manage the battery efficiency just as well as rather than upgrading and paying so much for AP
@@tjw1861 Autopilot is standard on every new tesla. Full self driving is not. On another note the phantom braking also happens to me too, just be alert at all times.
Great video!! I had my 2021M3 since 9/18/21 first day with I had a road trip bc my delivery location was 5.5 hours away from my house. I want to get a Mattress and sleep overnight in it as you did. Question how well do you sleep when u camp in it?
Thank you and Nice! Congrats on your M3! My experience has been really good so far except the first time I camped out in it. I was parked at the supercharger and when I fell asleep, shortly after the lawn sprinklers came on and I woke up. Besides that one incident, I’ve can’t think of any other issues that I’ve had. I love the fact that I can pull over at anytime and just camp out. Although I always try to plan it at or near a supercharger.
How charge in miles / kwh you get when you campout at campgrounds with poer outlet to charge it overnight?
Hello. Did you put any kind of paint protection sealant on your Tesla?
Hi. Not yet. Thinking about getting it tho.
@@MonsterGadgets So with all your driving, Did you notice any paint damage?
Some small rock chips on the front bumper
Question.
What made you go with the Model 3 vs The Model Y ?
I personally like the look of the M3 more as compared to the MY. The M3 is also faster :)
The second tip is irrational. So what does it matter if you cannot regen right away after a 100% charge? It doesn't. There is no loss or gain in this suggestion. Also number 7 does not add any range or less stops.
It wears down brake pads
@@JeffMathias you might want to take a remedial reading class. His headline reads as follows. "Tesla Road Trip Battery Charging Tips! Less Stops And More Range" Charging to 100% and temporarily losing regen has nothing to do with the brakes. Also, unless he was charging on a downhill slope when he pulled out the vehicle would still regen when he came to a downhill slope down the road.
@@JohnSmith-ug5ci i think the point here is the efficincy measure. If you always charge to 100% you are losing the benefit of regen in the total trip calculation. just maths..
@@tjw1861 if you think about it you would lose very little. So little that I seriously doubt that you could even realize it unless you fully charged on top of a large long hill and immediately started a downward decent on leaving the charging station.
Do you ever get bothered by the cops with your windows being tinted so dark? I was just curious because I would like to get mine that dark, what level are they at??
In my M3P no but I’m my other cars yes. I have 5% on the side windows, back and top and 35% on the front windshield.
Tesla told me charging to 90% is pretty safe for daily driving
Yes that’s in the safe zone but better to keep it a bit lower for overall battery health unless you need it on a daily basis.
What was you're average speed through out the trip?
Between 75-85 mph
Good video my friend. Definitely takes a little more planning at first in our Tesla. I laugh at the naysayers gobbling gas that say this can’t be done. It can easily be done with a tiny bit more planning. Superchargers are literally all over, even the car tells you where to stop on long trips. The planning comes into play by deciding what you will do at each stop for 25 minutes. Bathroom break? Grab a bite? Play a game on the monitor? It’s really not rocket science. Let’s see the naysayers go into camping mode in their chevy malibu 😂. Nope, they’re either shelling out for a hotel, or getting a bad nights sleep 🤣. Greatest car ever, I’ll never buy a gas vehicle again.
Thank you! Yup, lil planning goes a long way! 😂😂😂 @ camping mode in a Chevy Malibu
Can’t hear audio over tire road noise
Huh?
how many high speed on your highway 🥴
The speed limit of course! 😉 55-75 MPH
Damn Tesla rental added 4 hours to my trip
Plz explain from where to where?
@@MonsterGadgets STL to New Orleans .. but I skipped a stop . In Mississippi now, saved an hour !
That’s about a 9.5 hour road trip. The way Tesla routes on the stops is generally a 15-20 min stop unless there isn’t a stop for a while and generally it will get you to a charger with a low state of charge. This allows for a quicker charge. The lower the battery, the faster it will charge and it will charge enough to get you to the next charger.
@@MonsterGadgets yes I skipped a stop that would’ve took me way off course and now I’m in Southaven, MS . Next 2-3 stops are 2 hours apart ! So I think I’m good to go now man , at first it was telling me I’d arrive at 7pm
@qbanz00 cool, safe travels!
How significant is the charging prices compared to the old prices? I hear Tesla has changed the amount to make a charge and its pretty high up there.
It really depends on which location you charge at and the time you charge at. It varies slightly. However if you want to compare it to gas, it’s still doesn’t even come close. Meaning Charging your Tesla is far cheaper.
@@MonsterGadgets Appreciate it. Taking delivery of Model 3 LR hopefully next weekend. Need all the info I can get.
My pleasure! Congrats and welcome to the Tesla family!! You will never go back to a ICE car! Feel free to take a look at my other videos also and if you have any questions, msg me here or on my IG/Twitter. I’m happy to help! If you want a check list as a reference for delivery date to make sure you don’t miss anything, DM me your email and I can share that with you.
@@MonsterGadgets Will do!!
I'll be too nervous to go on a road trip in any electric vehicle.
Don’t tell me it’s cause of range anxiety lol
@@MonsterGadgets lol
I take long trips with tesla. It’s a breeze.
Is so annoying charge my model 3 all the time and waste 30 minutes in my life,I just trade in on Carvana for a bmw m3 , after 2 years owning model3 is good enough for my patience
Not sure which model 3 you had and why your charging for 30 min at a time? I personally have not experienced that at all with my model 3 performance and daily commute. During travel, I always follow what the car recommends for charge time and at times go a lil over but I don’t find myself sitting there wasting time as i coordinate it with restroom breaks or to grab a bite to eat. I’m not a BMW fan but the M3 is a nice car but also a completely different experience. Premium gas and a lot of it.
What was the total cost of the trip..supercharger
For me $0 cause I have a ton of referral supercharging miles but if I had to guess… prob around $25-35
