The way the cat panned straight to the camera right after he said “deranged killer” was the cutest, most horrifying thing I’ve ever seen.
Jordan Johnson Lol same!!

Thats awesome
and bloodshed and
*cat perks up*
Cat: *hears “deranged killer”* Oh shit, they’re on to me.
I always thought that Billy either murdered Agnes out of jealousy that his parents paid more attention to her than him or he molested her then murdered her to stop her from telling their parents hence the "Don't tell them what we did Agnes."
I'm guessing both
Same
Bob Clark (the director) apparently at some point said that Agnes survived whatever she went through and was put into a psychiatric ward. So whatever she went through, it must’ve been pretty bad.
@@oldfashionedslashin8280 There’s a remake where billy and anges team up.
(Spoiler)
Anges is Billy’s daughter, as his mom raped him when he was 12 due to his mother’s new husband being infertile. Billy’s only joy came from his father whom his mother murdered. Anges was treated much better than him which resulted in pent up anger. He brutally cut her eye out thus resulting in trauma, as well as bullying for being inbred and disfigured from the eye cut. Billy also murdered their parents, which is why he was incarcerated beforehand.
@@grimsquad273 problem?
the shot of Billy's eye peeking through the door is one of my favorite, most memorable parts of this movie 👀👀 pretty creepy
Time stamp?
It's weird she gets a really good look at the brown eye and then thinks her boyfriend with blue eyes is the killer.
@@ryanwalker8843
Tbf, we can say that now because we have better video quality to see that the boyfriend has blue eyes. Back in the '70s, the video quality wouldn't reveal that as much so audiences could still be in the dark on who Billy is.
@@Scarshadow666 how blurry do you think 70s movies were that you cant even tell what colour peoples eyes are? 🤣
Those two eye shots are so damn effective! The part with him behind the door scared the shit out of me the first time I saw it.
I used to have nightmares of finding someone hiding behind things or inside of things in various places and all I could see was that damn eyeball.. 😅 so I guess good job to the film creators lol
The cat! The cat! I can't focus on anything but the cat!
I didn't even watch the video
@@NameIsDoc I did and I still think the cat is the best part!
That cat is a great cat.
the cat is our god now we must give it offerings of rubs and pats to please it
That cat is dead, Billy pretty much imitates all his victim.
I’ve recently realized that Billy killing and then calling someone is very similar to the Weepy Voiced Killer, a man who used to call the police after his crimes to confess
"Don't talk just listen..."
Black Christmas was at least a decade before
@@causerDAguv That is true. I'm just pointing out the similarities.
In addition to the theory that the house belonged to him. Not only was he able to successfully get in and remain hidden but in the scene in which Barb was murdered he affectionately refers to her as Agnes. This may be hinting to the fact that this was his sister's room. Just a thought

I love this movie, the maniac is the scariest portrayal of crazy in any slasher film i've seen. Favorite part is when Billy calmly says "i'm going to kill you " .
I feel like a lot of movies don't go all-in with the crazy, but the phone calls are spot-on in this one. I answered a ringing payphone once when I was young, and had some weirdo on the other end asking me, "is it pink inside?"

The dark-haired actor (can't remember his name) playing the captain or lieutenant of the police department, is the same actor who played Nancy's dad in the first few Nightmare on Elm Street movies. Ironically, he plays a cop in those films too. Just an interesting fact. 😊

This isn't an Ending Explained video. This is a cat video that got interrupted.
You screwed up man, now every video in the future without the cat is completely unwatchable.
I see what he did. Used that cat as a distraction so none of noticed his set changed from previous vid😏😏😉 The clever clog

I’m 21 years old. I’ve always heard of this film and it’s influence on Halloween. I was never interested in watching it though. Halloween 1978 is the first horror movie I’ve ever seen at age 8... I was hooked ever since. At 21, watching black Christmas... I felt exactly how I felt at 8 watching Halloween for the first time... this film is a masterpiece and I’m ashamed I didn’t watch it sooner. VERY good film and the more I watch it the more I realize this film was way more than ahead of its time. The leading cast, the small details, the fact that there was literally NO SEX in this film was very surprising too, usually every slasher film has that. This film was not what I expected and the ending... oh my god that ending... I’ve never felt so much chills since Halloween 1978... VERY good movie and just as I watch Halloween every October I will make it my duty to watch this every December! Definitely top 3 favorite slasher film for me!
I think you need to work in that you're 21 a few more times.
Tbf, while there's no onscreen sex, they at very least have sex jokes and sex is implied to have happened (since the MC goes over to her boyfriend to talk about getting a certain A-word that is still controversial to this day).
And there is a poster of a couple having sex in the background too, lol.
@@keeganshigh I’m 21
@@Scarshadow666 I’m talking about the movie itself, posters & slight talk is fine. I’m talking about the action itself. I don’t care if a movie does or doesn’t, I was just meaning I was surprised that it didn’t usually slasher films do
@@Scarshadow666 i definitely see the influence in Wes cravens scream too from this movie.

okay, two things I must say about this movie! One: the part when jess finds out about the calls coming from inside the house, is very tense. I don't think I've seen any horror movie do better or this damn good. Two he left out the funniest part. When the detective goes to call the house, the cop in the back is laughing at the number barb gave them. It is obviously a comic relief but it is very funny. This is a great movie for both Christmas and Halloween.
He mentions that part briefly.
I don’t know why but Claire’s blank expression when she’s sitting in the chair creeps me out, especially in the scene where billy throws a temper tantrum and he violently rocks her. But all in all this is a exceptionally well made horror movie and is still in my opinion one of the best, the ending and the unknown identity of the killer are what sold me on watching this film. Merry Christmas everyone!
I thought Jess was so stupid for going UPSTAIRS right after the cop says leave the house because the killer is in the house
I think we were supposed to feel like that, but her not being able to leave her friends behind when they are in danger shows her own courage.
@@FrogeFella your right. It kinda hit me later. I only watched it once but thinking about it she was brave for not wanting to leaving her homies lol

That house must have some great soundproofing. Billy is so loud on the phone. I know it's a big house but how do not hear screams coming from upstairs. Also I'm not sure I would say Billy's wide eyed stare is clearly showing hes scared and not the stare of a killer. There is something called the psychopathic stare. Its characterized as wide unblinking prolonged predatory gaze. Remember when everyone kept talking about how creepy Elizabeth Holmes wide eyed stare was? How it was one of the main things people picked up on as showing something psychopathic about her.
I saw this in the theater (yep, I'm old). It scared the crap out of me. His calls were so creepy. Even though there are other people around, it gives you a feeling of such isolation.
I think the last phone call was for killing Peter. Maybe when Peter came into the basement he went to see if Jess was ok and Billy came, killed Peter, and knocked out Jess. I feel like Billy saw Jess as his sister (or Agnus) that could be why he looked terrified to see her. I think the reason why he does the multiple voices is because he was traumatized as a kid and anytime something happens he relives that moment. Idk just my take on it
What happened to back of his story ?
*BLOOD SHED AND TERROR*
Cat:*lifts up head*
I've been watching horror films since I was a little girl. Growing up in the 80s, I saw all of the classics on VHS. Friday the 13th, Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, etc. None of them scared me. Only Black Christmas did. I was terrified. Such a great film!
Such a great classic. Also, that cat is just too adorable.
Even if I haven’t seen the movie and or have no interest in the movie, I still watch these videos
You blew my mind that the same director did A Christmas Story.
The kitty was so cute at the beginning because it looked like it had no idea what was happening. It was chilling on the couch, not a care in the world, and suddenly raised its little head as if saying: "Papa. Papa is talking to himself. Oh nos, he's deranged. I need to escape, I no longer thrive in this household."
I wish the cat was a recurrent feature.
Great video as always, man.
The original is the best by far. One of the greatest horrors ever. LOVE IT! Always have. It's always better when there's no back story and a LOT is left ambiguous and left to your imagination. The POV filming and the camera moving away from that poor girl in the attic was so disturbing and effective at the end. Bothered me forever when I was a kid.
Once I saw the big orange cat FINALLY made another appearance in one of your videos, I immediately hit the thumbs up.

Wait a minute...Billy’s been using a cat’s meowing to lure his victims (or two at least). The cat is barely seen in the movie. You have a cat with you...
*GASP*
*YOU’RE BILLY! AND YOU TOOK THE CAT AND DYED HIS FUR!*
(It’s a joke).
Are you sure it's a joke?

I feel like Halloween refined what Black Christmas stumbled on in some aspects of defining the slasher genre, which is why some people seemingly forget about. However Halloween seriously lacked in making any character that wasn't the brilliant Laurie Strode completely one dimensional
While I agree the characterization in BC was amazing and felt very deep for a prototype "slasher" esp Margot Kidder's strong yet tragic, alcoholic character. But all the characters in Halloween besides Loomis and Myers, remind me of real ppl, and I think there's strength in realistic and simple characterization. Simplicity and minimalism is part of what made Halloween as good as it is.

Well damn, background is on point :D Love your videos!
Hi! You're mostly right, but Black Christmas wasn't the 1st Xmas-themed horror movie. "Silent Night, Bloody Night" predates it by 2 years (1972), and includes a phone call from within the house (upstairs), the killer's point-of-view shots, etc. All of the prints I've been able to find -- & I've really tried -- are cut terribly, so at least Black Christmas got a better release. It apparently made a "killing," if you will, in its home country of Canada, but a lousy distribution in the U.S. (its title was changed so ppl wouldn't think it was a blaxploitation film, so common at the time), and didn't do as well. OH well.
I only was focused on your cat, put him in more videos!

Plot twist, The cat is the master.
When Nash calls the house and tells Jess the calls are coming from inside the house I’ve always wondered how Billy knew the sorority house number. There were two separate lines in the house.
Back then, numbers used to appear on the phone dial. My guess is he climbed down from the attic and got it that way. He could’ve called 411 or looked it up in a phone book.
I love your humor man! Cant get enough of these videos! Hope i see you at TFW this year!

Recently discovered this film, and its great. I loved your review, esp the potential site reason that the sorority used to be Billy's home and its his stuff in the attic. What a great review!!! I love the original, the remake was ok,not great, leaving Billy mostly at mystery in the 1970ovie was smart. Nick Mancuso as the voice on the phone was scary as hell. I thought the same as you did, that Jess. was a . very "modern" heroine, with her abortion decision, not wanting to get married and being tough, A terrific "final" girl even if her fate was unknown at the end
I remember watching this for the first time and at the ending thinking “wtf” because no explanation of who the killer was. Thanks for more clarification.
