KhukuriGod It talks about a powerful rage. The ju-on curse happened because she was killed in extreme sorrow which left a stain on the place. The reason why it isn’t an observable phenomena is because either it’s going unnoticed or it’s a particularly rare phenomena as it can cause a disturbance in the natural order of things. Basically it was an unnatural occurrence that took place with the Saeki family and the ju-on curse. And that Kayako’s rage was so powerful that she refuses to move on

Idk its just a pale woman that makes wierd sounds. Also i hate how she only kills ppl off screen not showing how strong she actually is compared to other horror figures
@@sirbuflorin5950 There's just something about the Grudge that fucks me up. I think it's the supernatural element of her, combined with how you can almost never escape her, and her erratic, twitchy movements that freak me out. Lol Her design doesn't help either.
Imagine you're some kid walking down the street and you see the actress, you would be terrified you'd probably just start screaming and crying, "Grudge lady!!!" 😂
haha i remember when i used to be this scared cos of the grudge(and scary movies in general), now i have my feet/legs outside of my blanket, sometimes i even let my leg or arms hang off of my bed cos its comfortable, im 25, im not scared anymore cos constant sleep paralysis scared the fear out of me lol, the important thing is to stay calm and face ur fears.. i'll admit im a little scared when i look around my room when its dark but its not enough for actual fear, still comfortable
That scene in the first Grudge with Kayako coming down the stairs is still one of the most terrifying things I’ve ever seen, and I watch pretty much every horror movie I can find. There was just something specifically eerie and memorable about the imagery and scares in that movie.
I never cared for movies where there is no hope if you can't escape, fight, or otherwise contain it i can't get attached to any characters as I know they are dead already it's not a bad movie just not my cup of tea
@Brandon Sutton I feel like if there's no solution to it then better stop at 1 or 2 movie instead...Drag it all long and you'll just witnessing the world die in slow motion. It's basically just a zombie movie at this point but you need to wait several hours before one house is turned into mass murdering ghosts.
@Brandon Sutton Yes, but over and over? I would really really like it to y'know...end? Have an ending? Maybe FINALLY get rid of the curse and not drag it through multiple movies. Like what? Are the movies just going to continue, stagnant, yet perpetually creating more and more eventually boring sh*t. I'm easily entertained and have bad taste, but even I can't stand basically watching multiple movies of the same series that ALL have the same premise and ALL have the same endings.
@@fredericksaxton9782 I wish it would "end" the curse in a way that teases the curse not really being over, but at the same time not opening any more storylines or anything. Like a cliffhanger ending almost, but just no story, just a teaser that the curse isn't really over, somehow lol.
@@MistySophie It's unsettling because you know then that the ghost/curse/murderer have completely zero compassion and they are just pure evil. Regardless of who or what you are, you're not safe from them.
@@MistySophie the only way I'd be fine when a child dies in a movie is when it's emotional instead of gory like in 2013 Mama. The child dies by falling with the ghost and giggling happily and hitting a branch and turning into butterflies
@@PrincessOfTheWholeUniverse yeah! Yeah, you put it correctly. Obviously children dies in movies like this, but seeing a raw kill like this on a child is really disturbing
I've watched so many scary movies since I was a kid and this was the only one that terrified me so badly that I still have nightmares involving her sometimes to this day. I watched this video to kind of revisit the fear and feel better about it lol I do definitely feel a lot better though after this thankfully.
The shame about these films is that literally nothing is resolved. Everyone dies and curse never ends so makes viewing after the first entry somewhat pointless
@@DontRecommendThisShxt True but it's not just this film series, I just see it has the potential to go on for maybe 5 more films and only finish when people stop caring about it
That's the POINT. In Japan their horror stories almost never have an actual satisfying conclusion, because that's just not how their horror works. They go less with the idea of a threat a character needs to defeat, and more the way of tragedy - there's nothing they can do, it's going to end badly anyway. It's like Macbeth or Othello - the journey is in watching the characters struggle and fight but ultimately succumb. Granted, that's not for everyone; and that's totally ok. You might not LIKE tragedies. But it's good to at least have that option for people who do like them.
@@LordofFullmetal not saying I dislike the way it is, was thinking to myself that it probably is the point of it. Obviously I've only seen the film's through this review of them and I'm sure I'd appreciate it more if I watched more but I couldn't help but draw comparisons to series such as Final Destination where there is no resolution throughout the whole thing. But I guess it's just the journey of them all really and horror isn't really obliged to have a good ending right?
Well it is a curse and curses hardly have any resolutions. The point of watching after the first, is to see how the curse carries on to different people and through different times, and what happens to said people after encountering the curse/ dying. If you watch the original Japanese films they go more in depth, and you can see how the curse affects those who are touched by it and those who aren't. So I wouldn't say it's pointless to watch after the first film.
@@Dusterance It depends on the reasoning behind it. The Grudge (well, Ju-On and other Japanese horror movies of its ilk) focuses more on the tragedy that unfolds with each unsuspecting victim, whereas Final Destination focuses more on the spectacle of the character's deaths. It's more about the presentation and purpose than it is about whether or not it has a good ending is basically what I'm saying.
i still get scared while washing my hair in the shower, i’m scared her hands will be in my hair 😣 also under my sheets, i’m scared to hide under my bed sheets when i’m scared bc ill remember that scene where she took the woman who covered herself to hide

i am when i was in kindergarten, my dad would lock me in our small bathroom and slide the movie case under the door and block the bottom so i couldnt slide it back out. ahhh.... terrible times lmao 😂
To explain why Naiyako became a curse spirit, it is as Kaiyako's mother said in Grudge 2 that Foundflix pointed out but apparently forgot or never considered. It never was the ritual that caused the curse. I'm sure the ritual did change Kaiyako's personality, but it was the grudge she held when she was violently killed by her husband that caused her to become a curse spirit. Naiyako died violently and became a curse spirit seeking revenge. The ritual was most likely only meant to exorcise a specific spirit which in Grudge 3 case was Kaiyako and possibly her son but not Naiyako.
Because of this movie, I was terrified to close my eyes when soaping my face in the shower, I kept thinking the grudge would be there when I opened them again or that she would grab me when my eyes were closed
Dude honey shit. The grudge was the first horror movie I ever watched. And at 5 i can tell you i burned itself into my brain. I was so terrified I litterly would run away from anyone with black long hair. Also the dark

Fun Fact: Karen's role in the American remake was inspired by Rika's character in the japanese version, although Rika wasn't as prominent a character as Karen since the japanese version focuses less on a single character and divides its time a bit more. Also, Itako wasn't the mother's name, it was the role she played as shaman/channeler. Kayako's mother was Nakagawa Kawamata.
@@BBoy4040 I think the point is that due to how they died, the ghosts really can't be anything other than mad and angry. It's not fair, it's cruel, but it's just the way it is.
"A curse will never end, you can only transform it into a new one" Nayako became ghost as she was killed in a blinding rage by the guy. A rage which was induced by Kayako's influence over him and the whole building. It was the rule of thumb in the first movie. A grudge curse comes to life when someone is killed in a blinding rage.

i literally read that at the same time that he said it on the video
That scene in the first Grudge with Kayako coming down the stairs is still one of the most terrifying things I’ve ever seen, and I watch pretty much every horror movie I can find. There was just something specifically eerie and memorable about the imagery and scares in that movie.
Yah I feel the same for Sadako in Ringu
I never cared for movies where there is no hope if you can't escape, fight, or otherwise contain it i can't get attached to any characters as I know they are dead already it's not a bad movie just not my cup of tea
Exactly my thoughts.
It's worst. They intentionally introduced "the sister" exorcist...only to kill her off. False hope to hook people in.
I have to say, Jake's death was always so gruesome to me, especially since he is literally a child

@@trochii4411 yeah. There's somthing more unsettling to see children die in horror movies.

Why was the makeup for the ghosts in the 3rd movie so bad😩.
I'm no expert but I think the lighting doesn't helps either.
