Some of the reviews for this don't make sense. This ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA works as well as any power strip I've used. Plug in what you need, be sensible about it & keep it movin' The construction is plastic but it's a sturdy piece. It has a single toggle switch & the swivel jacks are useful as well. Plugged in next to Tripp Lite Isobar takes some of these reviews with a pinch of sumthin' - does what it says & functions properly.Had for about a month. Perfect no complaints will update if anything changes.
thanks for watching!
I’ve watched more UA-cam reviews of the magic keyboard in the last few weeks than I’d care to admit, but this one has to be my favorite; simply because of how you depicted your experience with it by walking through the different scenarios that changed your perception of it over time. I was able to envision how the experience would be for me as you were explaining it. That to me is what makes a great review. Solid work 👏🏽 Subscribed.
@HUB, wow!!!! Thank you so much for the feedback. I will continue to try and improve.
YOU JUST EXPLAINED EVERYTHING about this floating keyword , this is really very informative video. THANKS !!
Glad to help. I wanted to make sure I explained all the initial complaints.
I got rid of my iPad air and MacBook air within the last year and went iPad only. So I’m always interested in iPad content. With the launch of iPad OS and the magic keyboard I don’t know if I’ll ever buy a Mac again. Affinity Photo and LumaFusion are all the answers I needed. I just liked and subscribed to your channel the color grading and your sound quality are phenomenal. I can’t wait to watch more!
Wow, thanks for the positive comments. Each video is different as I keep trying new things to make them better. New video tomorrow.
Same, I love my ipad pro
J. Newton Wright hey man I understand I don’t know if I can get over the fact I can’t lay it flat. I travel a lot so on that plan ride that’s important and other scenarios. I use the slim folio pro now 12.9 but I must admit it’s bulky but it has the backlit keyboard.. I just don’t know what to do PLEASE HELP!!!
Really love how you showed shots of you using the iPad in difficult area/situations like on a table, outdoors, or lying in a couch. Gives a good impression of how the viewing angles are, and that's something I've been wanting more channels to touch up on!
I’m glad it helped. Are you planning to get one?
I’ve watched a number of other comparisons of these keyboards, but I really appreciated your honestly in everything you didn’t like, and your genuine experience of going from almost returning it to loving it. Super helpful! Keep it up!
Kody Duncan thanks for the comment, will do.
Jerry,
Bought a 256 K 12.9 Pro for the wife and a 1 TB for me. I got the magic keyboard for me thinking it would be too heavy for her. Not so. Now I have to wait a week and a half to get “my own”. She loves it! Thanks for confirming what what I now know.
Haha. Best not to share! So assume you like it also?
Would you recommend this iPad for a business user?
As much as the keyboard cost it shouldn’t have dented that easy!
Lol. I would say it’s more like a scrape. The rubber kind of split and crumpled up a little bit. But if it were aluminum most likely would’ve dented so either way it was my fault. Thanks for watching !
And that is the reason why I have just bought a Brydge keyboard instead of the Apple one. I wouldn't cope if it dented it like that.
How do you like the Brydge?
Jerry Schulze so sorry, I’ve only just seen your comment. I really like it. It is quite heavy, but I can cope with that. The feel of it is nice, and it’s nice and sturdy. To be honest I can’t really pick fault with it, especially for the price I paid.
Righttttt the most annoying thing for me is when i get the apple battery case for the iPhones, it gets rubbed against my keys or something and i take my phone out and notice there’s a dent in the material and I’m like.........................................
I didn’t know what I thought when I got mine, but I realised that I was just naturally using it as if it was always there.
Meeba The Derpmeister I think you said it better than I could. It just feels natural, feels like it should and has been there. Thanks so much!
I love how all your videos are very detailed and you seem to know what your talking about and not just reading a script
I appreciate that! Depends on the video. lol
Jerry Schulze after looking through a lot of your videos I stand by what I said, you are truley one of the best small youtubers 😍
@@ahmedaladraj Is that a short joke?! 😂 thank you very much for the compliment.
I think I’m going to get a magic keyboard because of everything you said.
Awesome! I still think it is a great product, despite my initial concerns.
Did you end up getting it?
i have it for a week now for my 11 inch pro and i‘m already in love with it..
I have the 12.9 with magic keyboard and it has been fantastic! I’m currently in a Master’s program and strictly used my iPad. It does it all
F Gomez very cool! Any specialized apps for school?
@@JerrySchulze I think the most helpful app for me has been GoodNotes 5.
Hehe “missing scene jerry upset”, lol 😂 I would be too, I have a small dent in my desk and when my mind drifts into the distance I find myself staring at it 👌 Loved this vid! You’re so entertaining, you seem to be more charismatic than usual!
There was some cursing behind the scenes. I am still trying to get used to talking to a camera, which is harder than people think. Well, for me it is. :-/
That’s fine! I think that’s part of the learning process! You’re doing great!
I just got the 11 in for the IPad Pro and I’ve accepted the drawbacks you described perfectly. The pros and workability definitely out weighs the negatives. For me I find the weight distribution fine because I rest my hands on the space under the magic keyboard so it sits very firmly. The keys I fell in love with instantly, I appreciate the near silent and not mushy keys.
thanks for watching and sharing! no issues with the smaller keyboard?
Jerry Schulze the smaller keyboard honestly is fine with me because it doesn’t feel small if that makes sense. Like I how I can reach all the keys without too much hand shifting or stretching. Like I got this as a near laptop replacement.
Cornelius Smith awesome!
I did exactly the same ! I decided to return it as i couldn’t justify the cost, went back to cheap bluetooth keyboard and a regular low cost cover... and the next day I went back to the Magic keyboard for the exact same reasons you mentionned ! Plus I find the iPad is very stable on the magic keyboard, it doesn’t move at all, even on an uneven surface like a matress. Is it worth this price? No ! Do I keep it? Heck yes ! 😉
Lol
However I did return the magic mouse 2 which is a fraud ! Got the logitech MX3 for the same price, what a difference ! Not all Apple products are good is my conclusion 😉
I also recently got the MX 3 and love it.
I just got Mine, and I really love it! It’s so easy to use. I agree the price is really premium, however the comfort is so high.
The way you explained it justifies the price. I use it all the time now. I havent used the Mac or MacBook.
I use it with the Magic Mouse 2, and the second usb port is great for charging or connecting otter devices.
Thanks for a great video i agree 100%
Thanks for the feedback and sharing your experience.
Getting my new iPad Pro, 12.9” with Magic Keyboard for my birthday on July 1st. Can’t wait! Think I may well end up ditching my Mac. What’s your view?
Awesome! In my opinion, making your iPad your primary computer is a fun exercise that has been challenging but also interesting. Making your iPad your only computer should probably wait a good few months until you are full comfortable. Thanks for watching!
I use both my 16” MacBook Pro and my iPad 12.9 with the Magic Keyboard. BUT my MacBook has replaced my iMac and my iPad has replaced my MacBook Pro as a laptop. I think everyone has a different use, I think when it comes down to my work flow needing multiple monitors it is not presently possible to just use the iPad... but it looks like this might change soon. Just a few more days, sooooooo good luck, I hope you love it as much as I love mine.
Mosty Gaming she ain’t spoiled. you can get it too. i’m also getting the iPad pro 2020 but 11 inch. i saved up!
Raspberry Pi4, VNC, iPad Pro, iOS 13+, Magic Keyboard... I have 0 use to ever own another laptop. Anytime I need something desktop related I connect to the raspberry pi. Truth be told it isn’t much at all. Mainly it’s just to interface with my Ham radios. With Windows 10 becoming more of a reality on the Pi4 everyday I have no need for a VM even. iPad Pro is just so versatile and convenient to me that my MacBook has collected dust since 2017 and I won’t be replacing it. Especially since the new MacBooks are going to be overpriced iPad Pros.
I will say this. I was not going to get this keyboard but i kept looking at it and its reviews. I got it in the mail yesterday and man is this keyboard the bomb. I cannot see how i got along without it
Awesome. Let me know after a couple days what you like and don’t like
Choosing between iPad Air 4 and the iPad Pro? ua-cam.com/video/u2y0Y1U18Ok/v-deo.html
I have the 12.9” iPad Pro and Magic keyboard and love. However I still do use the smart folio keyboard too for three reasons, 1) it is washable if drinks get spilt on it (important when you have a kid in the house), 2) it is more stable when using on my lap and 3) more compact if using in confined space. Apart from those the magic keyboard is better in every other respect. If I could only have one, it would no doubt be the Magic keyboard.
Jonathan Tuba 2 good points. I am not selling my smart folio because I do see times to use it. Like when traveling....someday.
The second part of your video sums-up my experience with the device perfectly. I’ve replaced a MacBook Pro with this combination and I’ve ended up using it much more than I ever used my laptop, but when I try to explain why, I struggle to articulate the reasons. I think in part its down to the modularity - I can just take the iPad off the MK and suddenly its a tablet.
If the apps you need are available on iPadOS, its definitely worth checking this out - compared to the current laptop range, its extremely powerful, silent, modular, has a better screen, front-facing camera, FaceID and supports the Pencil. Native cursor support & the Magic Keyboard were the missing components for me which had previously stopped me being able to switch to iPadOS. Like Jerry, I don’t know if I’ll get another Apple laptop.
Mr Mike thanks! It is hard to explain sometimes but it’s like one of this things...once you get it, you get it.

I’ve seen a ton of reviews. This is probably the best reason why I’m keeping my magic keyboard. Amazing review. Im a subscriber effective now.
Wow thanks so much!
Absolutely loving this review.
So many people have experience with this but somehow they don't know how to describe it right. But you did it right. Instant sub.
Wow, very much appreciated!
Been thinking about it for a year, but what finally pushed over the edge to buying was I needed a new iPad stand case because the one I have is getting worn and thought what the heck why not?I carry my iPad everywhere I go and love my morning routine of Mickey Ds breakfast, ice coffee and doing some hobbies and I am outside at local dog walk park in the sunshine and I can see the screen easily in sunlight
I got the keyboard about 3 months ago, and I’ve used it everyday. I really enjoy using it and it’s transformed the way I use my iPad Pro. I have another case I put it in when I know I’m not going to be typing. I don’t have a laptop and haven’t used a laptop for a few years now so maybe that’s why I didn’t notice the small trackpad or keyboard was small. I don’t mind the weight either. I do wish there were more angles for the screen but otherwise I really enjoy it. It does tip occasionally but I’m always careful and it’s become natural to do so. I’m also super careful about wear I put the keyboard down so it doesn’t get dirty. Truly no complaints other than wishing it had more angles, and naturally the price.
Thanks for watching. It seems like you have a lot of the same opinions as me. What case do you use when not typing?
Absolutely love my Ipad pro 11” and with the magic keyboard just made it way better. I use my iPad Pro 11” for everything, I even stopped using my laptop. I use my iMac for photo editing and my iPad for all of my school work and everything else. This keyboard is perfect!!!
Daniel Fletcher do you prefer apps or safari? I have a video about how many things work better in Safari.
Jerry Schulze So I do prefer safari vs most apps. I do gotta say I just purchased an iPad Pro 12.9” and for schooling it’s way better when running the split screen for e-txt and good-notes simultaneously. It’s not bad, but isn’t great as the wacom tablet when you display mirror your iMacs/ MacBook screen to the tablet. I thought the 11 was a perfect choice until I got my 12.9 and with that keyboard it just makes it even better. I’ll def check out your other video. Thanks
I also sold my 11 for a 12.9 and it really became something else completely for me. Thanks!
Jerry Schulze idk if I’d sell my 11” as I really love it for work and carrying it around. But the 12 is my absolute fav! Going to check your video now
Daniel Fletcher oh, nice!
This really helps, I have been struggling with the thought of returning it or not given the price, but I think it will help to bridge the gap between the ipad and laptop that was missing for me before. Thanks :-)
Cool, I recommend keeping it. I have a video about making the iPad more like a laptop that may also help you.
I agree. I sold my 2018 MacBook Air and have a 2019 12.9” iPad Pro w/ Magic Keyboard and I’ll probably never own a laptop again. This setup + my iMac does everything I need. I rarely use the iMac anymore either. Great video...you have a new subscriber 😊👍
Hey thanks for checking it out. Unfortunately with me my convictions can change. I’m never content to stay in one track so you never know what path I will go down.
It was time to upgrade my original apple keyboard case so I was on the fence about the magic keyboard. I watched your video and now I need to get a magic keyboard. Placed an order and picking it up tomorrow. thanks for the tips.
Very cool! I also have a 6 month review video that may be helpful.
Laying down on The couch..that’s all I needed to know. I’m getting closer to being convinced
Lol! Glad it helped.
I got the 11 inch ipad pro and magic keyboard....haven't touched my windows ultra book since...love this thing!
The magic keyboard really turns the iPad into a different device.
I had to switch to the 12.9” iPad Pro once I got the keyboard for the 11” I loved it so much. But it is much harder to use it as a book reader. Really hate needing two iPads. Done with MacBook. Still love my iMac for any truly heavy lifting.
While I LOVE my Magic Keyboard, there are 2 things that I don’t like about it:
1. It burns through my iPad 12.9” battery life.
2. It is impossible to open with one hand.
The other issues are minor compared to these two for me. All in all, I love the magic keyboard and iPad Pro combination. I actually use them more than my Microsoft Surface Book 2 laptop and may sell it later this year and go iPad Pro full time.
I have seen others complain about battery being affected. I do not notice it. Agree on one handed opening.
If it is burning through your battery life really badly get it replaced. This is a known manufacturing problem.
@@christopherfortineux5421 Interesting.
@@christopherfortineux5421 how bad it is? I just have had mine for a day so I cannot notice how bad it is.
I just brought one with my iPad Air & I beginning to love it😊
Currently using it on my 2018 12.9 and it’s changed my enjoyment of it, it’s brilliant, apart from the price
Thanks for sharing!
I’m about to receive my first Magic Keyboard for IPad Pro 11, and you’re loaf term review helped; good stuff, even 2 years later
I feel like if you're already spending $1K on an iPad, you might as well get the magic keyboard and have the absolute best experience possible. While it's certainly more expensive, some things in life are worth splurging on. I use the iPad Pro both for typing out dialog and text + use the Apple Pencil for drawing to create web comics. The accessories are really what make the iPad shine rather than just the iPad itself.
Great points! Thanks for checking it out.
Okay, but what if I won't use it at all
@@ina9024 that’s your problem lmao
It’s always nice to hear something positive about a product when it clearly has great features and literally transforms the IPad Pro. I have the 11 inch 2020 Pro and Magic Keyboard. I know there are function row deficits and that’s all most reviewers concentrate on or the backlit key adjusting. I’ve NEVER had to adjust the backlit keys because it’s done so well on it’s own. I concur with your opinion and this video gives me a little more confirmation that I made the right choice. Great video... take care....
Awesome thanks for watching. Always nice to validate a purchase. I need that for an up coming video. :/
Looking forward to it! I’ll subscribe now and enjoy...
Much appreciated!
One last thing... I just watched your video on cleaning the magic keyboard. What I just did a moment ago was go to otterbox.com and gave my email. They gave 10 dollars off after confirming. I bought the Otter shell series always on 11 inch bag. Larger available I believe. The magic case display side slides into the pocket and bottom as well so it opens and closes with the IPad setup. It’s pretty slim and will eliminate the need for dawn or rumbling alcohol. Came to $22.50 free shipping after using the 10 dollar discount! Have a good evening... Patrick
Oooohh, interesting. I will check that out
Very fair review. In the end, for me the + outweigh the -. However the price still seems extreme. BTW I put a skin on mine. It looks a lot better than the smudged surface of the naked folio. The only drawback with the added skin is that it can slip of smooth surfaces. I might add four rubber feet, but there goes the good looks again!
What skin did you use?
Can you use iPad as your ONLY computer? ua-cam.com/video/0SldMouMEWc/v-deo.html
Trust me I’ve tried them all and even the Brydge didn’t do it. Bluetooth connectivity is not the same. Also the gestures. Backlit keys. The keyboard is powered from the actual device. The price is steep, but I see why. There’s is nothing else on the market comparable.
Good points. Now that Logitech is making keyboards that use the smart connector on the other iPads, hopefully we can get more options for the pro.
Thanks for this very informative review. I am decided to get an iPad pro 2020 11 inch for myself but hesitant and still contemplating which one to get, Magic keyboard or smart keyboard. Now I know which one to buy.. thanks for this video. Keep safe and more power...

Finally someone who gives a real review and knows how to use an iPad. What stuck out to me the most was that Jerry you know how to use the iPad as an iPad and slightly modified your workflow to adapt. You did not look for an iPad to be a laptop but rather for you to be able to do something’s that you do for work using iPad software and it is brilliant. Too many people think that replacing your laptop with an iPad means that you are doing the exact same thing on a iPad that you do on a laptop. This is the wrong approach. I like you use Citrix to manage servers which allows me to work from anywhere. I really wish that apple would bring back the “There is an app for that” commercial b/c when you understand that many apps meet the needs of what a person would do on a laptop/desktop that’s when you really get it. For example as you pointed out there is no final cut or premiere pro on iPad however Lumafusion is a great alternative and is better in many ways. However many want the surface route and rather than upgrade there workflow to include a range of options such as learning how to use apps they want the full blown desktop/laptop apps on the ipad which will not happen. Great video, thanks for sharing.
One thing to say.. I HAVE NEVER HAD A APPLE PRODUCT IN MY LIFE AND NOW I LITERALLY FRICKIN WANT THE MAGIC KEYBOARD
Great insight in this review. I would definitely pick one up if I didn’t have a computer
Uno Pio de Roda thanks for watching! For many people it could be there next computer.

The best review I've seen so far.
Honest and informative.
Thank you!
Thank you, I appreciate it.
Fantastic review. I was centimeters from getting a MacbookPro yesterday, but it just felt so FRAGILE for that price.
So I've been weighing this iPad Pro alternative set-up and you just convinced me. Thanks.
No wrong choice. What do you mean fragile?
@@JerrySchulze It just feels too light and unsubstantial to me for that price. I think I'd prefer a thicker alu body even if that meant it would be heavier.
Because if I wanted a MBA, I'd pay $300 less and get a MBA. I don't see what the point of the MBP is (apart from memory capacity.) The iPadPro, by contrast, feels like a serious piece of kit.
@@ibodhidogma how it feels to use is important. I don’t feel that the air is fragile. Trying to twist with my hands and it’s not moving. It feel solid. That said. I like both products.
i just ordered the 12.9 iPad Pro. I want that magic keyboard, but the price...... damn, okay I'll try it.
Lol. It is great. Check out my 6month review for a longer update.
Jerry - I really enjoyed this video and it reassured my purchase of the magic keyboard vs the $150 less Logitech. Your videos look great and have amazing lighting. I work in the Camera Department in the film industry and see works of different lighting. This is on point and looks great. Especially with the accent behind you on the wall and the LED’s behind you units. The contrast on your face is something to be desired on any videos. It just looks better!
Wow! Thank you very much. I wish I could reproduce it but I keep changing and tweaking to make things a little better. Some people do not like the lower light look.
I lucked out with both of my keyboards because it takes more force than imaginable to detach mine. And haven't had any issues with really bad battery drain which is known some of them have had an issue with manufacturing causing this because they cannot produce them fast enough.
That has been the one and only time it has detached by accident and was because I was lifting from the bottom. The magnets are really strong.
Yes it’s worth the price (in my opinion). I purchased it when I ordered my 2020 12.9’ IPAD Pro. I have also put off my purchase of a new MacBOOK Pro because the IPAD does most of what I need to do. Adding the second generation Apple Pencil has made my life easier.. Money well spent!
Fred Stafford are you excited about Scribble in iPadOS 14?
I totally agree. It is taking more and more of my laptop time. It is now number 1 in my toolset because of the trackpad and the reasons you gave. I will always have a use case for a MacBook and looking forward to upgrading my aging Pro to whatever MacBooks become this Fall, but I don’t have to go all out for a maxed out MBP now.
Awesome! Lets say a new air comes with similar performance to the iPad Pro. Would that be enough?
Also, on one of my recent videos I talked about the iPad vs a MacBook for the best mobile device. What did you think of that?
Totally. An Air with iPad Pro performance would be perfect.
Thanks this sold me on the magic keyboard
Awesome. My initial impressions didn't scare you away?
one of the best video on UA-cam about the iPad magic Keyboard bravo 👌✨✨✨
Wow, thanks Benoit!
I recently found one used for $260 so I picked up it up quick. I feel like the price is the primary reason not to get it. So far, I’m really glad I got it. My one wish is that it had function keys and an escape key
Very nice! How did you find that deal?
As someone who has a MacBook Pro, I could not justify the weight of the Magic Keyboard with the 12.9 iPad Pro because that setup weights more than the MacBook Pro itself, and the MacBook Pro offers the trackpad, backlit keys, different viewing angles, multiple usb-c, and basically everything the magic keyboard has. Ended up getting the Smart Keyboard because I preferred the portability of the iPad setup (the main reason why I got it in the first place). Very informative video. Thanks.
All good points. Then Smart Keyboard is definitely lighter and makes it feel more portable.
Just got an iPad Air 5 and thinking about getting the Magic Keyboard. This was very helpful ❤😊
Check out the CoverBuddy Case for iPad Pro that works with the Magic Keyboard: ua-cam.com/video/pwb5qSCbjn8/v-deo.html
A good solution to keeping the Magic KB cover (any cover) clean: Dawn Dish liquid soap (clear blue) with H2O on a cloth. Wipe on wet, and dry off with a clean cloth - no need to rinse the bubbles off. Works every time.
In ter es ting!
@@JerrySchulze Only need a few drops, btw. The oil spots from our hands will come off - just like new. Cannot do much about the scratches, except your suggestion to put a skin on it. :)
Tersuz1, I had to try it so I made a video.
I was about to return mine! Thanks for the review, think I will keep it.
Wow, glad to hear. I have a longer 6month review video that may offer more info.
Soooo, what you're basically saying is...if you HAVEN'T ALREADY wasted $300 on the Magic Keyboard, DON'T. Because, once you do, you'll become dependent on a few key features that you COULD remedy with a cheaper folio case and 3rd party keyboard; but won't feel motivated enough to return it.
Gotcha. 😉
Van Davis lol. Sure you could look at it that way. Something about it just makes it worth it for me.
I was skeptical until I watched your video. Gonna buy it now.
So happy you found it. I have a 6 month review as well for a longer term experience. Spoiler, I still love it.
I still have my Magic Keyboard cover sleeve whatever apple calls it, but the keyboard on this thing is so good…. I haven’t switched back once.
Really great review and especially about the drawbacks.
I still consider myself a laptop person rather then an iPad person (due to freedom you receive with the laptop and limitations of an iPad), but I tend to agree that for average (not tech enthusiast) it's a great choice
Thanks for checking it out.
Nicely done. I am really looking forward to getting my iPad Air 4th Gen with this keyboard.
Good choice!
This is an excellent video man. I was sold on the magic keyboard from the get go but your video showed the versatility of the iPad along with the keyboard. Really helped a lot. Thanks
Wow, thanks! Glad it helped. What is the most interesting feature for you?
Jerry Schulze - well for me there were three things-
1) the backlight keys.
2) usb-c port on the side.
3) the fact that by having the keyboard you’re basically rolling two into one.you have a tablet and what is essentially a laptop.
All of which seem to be the way of the future. I’m just very pleased with it. Btw thx for the quick reply, not many UA-camrs do that. Much appreciated.
@@itslikethesamebutdifferent8020 Thanks, I am trying.
NIce review. I agree with you on your arguments. I own a MacBook Pro 15 inches 2018 and don’t feel the need to use it anymore other than for software development, and I think that it may even change in the future with the convergence of Apple devices. The Magic keyboard completely changes the way IPad are used, and it’s for the best. Keep up the good work.
I appreciate the comment. Thanks for watching.
I have the logitech folio touch. Its great...backlit keys, function keys and trackpad and you can fold it down flat with the keyboard underneath to use as a traditional tablet when you want. It doesn't sit up on a lap as well though. My only reservation with the magic keyboard was that you can lay it down flat in the case.
I was waiting for a 12.9 version to compare them but they still haven't released it.
Welp, I just purchased mine this morning, so it'll be here on the 2nd. Thanks for reassuring me that this is the go-to!
Andrew Bellucci Cool. Did you get the 11 or 12.9? All the negatives at the beginning didn’t scare you off? Let me know what you think when your get it.
Jerry Schulze I’ve had the 12.9 for a little bit over a year with the Logitech slim folio pro, but my problem was turning my iPad back into a tablet at the end of the day. I also had bad latency issues with using a Magic Trackpad. Having the ability to easily take the iPad out of the case is a big thing because it transforms what was originally a secondary laptop to me back into a tablet. I also would love to use the trackpad in my workflow as a developer/business owner. The beginning didn’t scare me at all! I just needed the reassurance I wasn’t buying a shitty product, but now I know that I’m not! I’ll ping you when it arrives to let you know my thoughts! Thanks for the swift reply! You earned a sub!
Awesome. See you on the next one.
@@JerrySchulze Heyo, my order was actually delay and I just got it yesterday and I wanted to give it some time to try out. I absolutely love it. The keyboard feels better than the Logitech slim folio pro, the trackpad feels buttery smooth compared to the magic trackpad 2 and it just gets even better when I'm able to take it off the keyboard and use it how it was meant to. Anyways, thanks again for the awesome video!
Andrew Bellucci whoop! That’s awesome. Interesting that you think the trackpad built in is better than Magic Trackpad 2. Thanks for sharing!
The problem is most people expect the iPad + magic keyboard to work and feel like a laptop, the combination is not a laptop, when you open a laptop, it’s bottom heavy, that’s why it’s stable, when you open the iPad with magic keyboard, it’s top heavy, of course it will topple, it’s physics. People need to manage their expectation and not asked for the impossible, it’s really not that hard.
Yes, there are physics issues with the case but for many people it can be a laptop replacement. It has been for me for almost 2 years.
I got one for christmas by march the space bar wasn’t working right i took it to the Apple Store and they gave me a new one , I had it in black , the second issue i had is what i have with my MacBook Air since the keys are black its stains easily making it look oily, well when they ask me if i wanted another black one i said no i ended up with an white one. Well i a brand new one as a replacement. Come July 5 months later the new one i got the letter t was falling off, i when to the Apple Store today and they gave me a new one again this was today. I hope this one doesn’t break and i have it for a very long time. I’m glad this thing still under warranty. The truth is i love the flexibility of my Magic Keyboard i use this more than my MacBook Air,. Since i got this i have used my macbook maybe 3 times after getting the Magic Keyboard. I used my iPad more than my phone and more than my MacBook. My better half every year for christmas takes me to the Apple Store and buys me the entire line up of Apple products. I got the iphone 14 pro max , the Apple Watch series 8 , I didn’t like the ultra its just too bulky. I got the I pad air 5th gen, the Magic Keyboard. I got the new air pods . The Apple Pencil and the MacBook Air m1 and i got the m2. And just to think he doesn’t like anything made by apple but would get me all the apple products as he knows that i enjoy them. He has all Samsung and i got all apple. I forgot we got Apple TV and the Mac mini but the Mac mini is like 3 years old.
I went from the Brydge Pro to the Magic Keyboard and it's simply changed EVERYTHING on how I can now use my iPad Pro. I thought I'd really miss the function keys on the Brydge, but after reading lot's or articles and watching a boat load of UA-cam videos, I have now learned how to program just about every function I really need, including an escape key and a lock function. I just subscribed to your channel. Thanks for the video.
Hey, thanks a ton for watching. Would love to hear some keyboard funtions you use.
@@JerrySchulze I've created an escape key, one to lock the screen easily, reprogrammed home, and other functions to be easier for me to remember, such as Control Center, Notification Center and Dock. There are loads of options you can program, from Swiping to two finger options. Of course, I wound up having to write them down at first, but now, they've become pretty much second nature.
For the sleep shortcut, is it this? ua-cam.com/video/7XOa6INPQRM/v-deo.html Also, new video tomorrow morning on some customizations.
@@JerrySchulze Yes, but I simplified it by reprogramming it to simply CMD L. That's it. No need to do CMD Cntrl Q, when you can program things to be even simpler. Settings > Accessibility > Keyboards > Full Keyboard Access > Commands > Lock Screen - Any function you see in all the lists there can be easily reprogrammed to commands you may find easier to remember.
@@Rodghost1 When you do that you get the highlighted areas for keyboard focus, right?
Thanks man, this is really helpful, There was a lot of common scene that we will all face in daily life, and I just got my 11 inch iPad Pro months ago, I think I’m gonna take serious consideration about this. It seems like in lots of working situation, iPad Pro can really substitute laptop... anyway, thank you again man, already thumbed up and followed looking forward to ur other videos!
Much appreciated and glad it helped!
Great honest feedback, love it! I just picked up the Magic Keyboard two days ago and was wondering if it was even worth it. Thanks again!
Fantastic! What do you think?
@@JerrySchulze So far so good, been experimenting with different ways to position it in order to write on it with my pencil.
Awesome!
I have one I agree with you it’s great product and now I use iOS 14 with the pen and its even better thanks for your video
Marc Teleki that’s great! Thanks for watching!
I was returning mine and like you and probably many more had it back in the box..Thanks for this very informative vid...
Been really wanting one of these so this was helpful. I’ve been using my iPad since launch without one and now I’m itching for one after so much use haha
Cody Austin I highly recommend it!
Great review, I love my iPad Pro. I prefer to just buy a multiple port adapter and use a mouse and keyboard and a kickstand case for a fraction of the cost. It is just as convenient for me and what I do with it.
shawn smith great idea if that works for you.
You really deserve more subs :) I'am currently rocking a Logitech Combo of Pebble and the K380 it's great, not optimal of couse but works. I'm impressed how well the mouse even work on the Bed etc
Nice, I’ll have to check that out. Thanks for the compliment!
Just ordered mine this morning, super excited - great review
Barry B Benson thanks for checking it out. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.
Thank you for the great review :) Same thing here for three weeks I had the Smart Keyboard long story short exchanged for the Magic All I can say its truly Magical :) & very addictive :) Also the Magic Track Pad is Amazing:)
Fantastic!!!
I cant even lie i was starting to joke with myself that there must be a conspiracy of apple holding a gun to these reviewers heads or something because I’ve never seen a review about the MK that was negative... after getting my MK I know why everybody loves it so much. To any of you who are worried about the price, don’t think about the price, its worth it, especially for hours of use per day on a product that will easily last 4 years
You said it better than me!
I bought a vinyl skin for my magic keyboard and it improved the material issue tenfold. Don’t have to worry about the grease spots, fingerprints, etc... anymore. It’s amazing and I recommend everyone go to amazon and invest the $25 for one
Thanks for the idea. Any specific brand you like?
Jerry Schulze well there aren’t a lot of options available at the moment, as the magic keyboard is still a newer product, but I got the SophiGuard Skin for my 11” iPad Pro on Amazon. It’s pretty good quality. I recommend getting the 3M variant of it, you’ll see it when on the product page
I did send DBrand (my personal favorite brand) a request to make a skin for the iPad Pro 11/12.9” Magic Keyboard. Hopefully they do that as their skins are nothing short of amazing
The best review i've seen so far... great job!
Wow, thanks! I just added a 6 month follow up video.
Helpful video, I use my iPad mostly outdoors since I work out of the vehicle a lot. I like the bright screen and pen functionality, I will have to give this keyboard a try.
The screen on the Pro is amazing. Let me know if you do get one. Thanks for watching n
The first day I did not like mine but after a couple of days it turned into an addiction now I can’t use my laptop.
Wow, lol. Very same story as mine. Thanks for checking out the video.
You save me. I changed my mind on keyboards and bought 2 of this one just now. One for me, and one for my wife.
Wow, awesome. What about it sold you?
@@JerrySchulze You said, "I can't live without it" and the first half of the video was your honest points about the things that you don't like about it. And later you said, "I'm not sure if I want to own a personal laptop again" and my goal is to replace my laptop. And you said, "This increases the versatility of the iPad ten fold for me". So wow, that was all I needed to hear, thank you, and I subscribed after that. Great review.
I absolutely love mine so far, but man, I still have nightmares about the price tag.
itz Trav lol.
I love my Magic Keyboard so far so good. I got the white one to go with my space gray iPad Pro 11inch.
I fully agree with you. It’s great. For me the biggest plus is the trackpad. Especially those 3 finger gestures are amazing to zip through the iPad UI
Awesome! Just wish was a little bigger.
Apple Silicon is coming for the iPad ua-cam.com/video/_txleCWwkgI/v-deo.html
I had the exact same feelings as you, only I did send mine back. I hated the imbalance with it on my knee, the pencil kept falling off and hated the grease marks! or catching the iPad when typing plus didn’t like the thud sound when typing plus with my fat fingers the track pad was just too small! I now use a standard case which covers the pencil and when working at home I just use the magic battery keyboard and a bluetoooth mouse. In all the case was £16, mouse £35 and keyboard £80. I just couldn’t also justify the crazy price of the magic keyboard, there was too much I didn’t like to justify the outlay. Great video though :)
Thanks for watching. What you are using is a good option. The magic keyboard case has a convenience factor, which for me, is worth it.
